  1. Forgot to mention that Jason Krezja looks a lot like Dean Bailey.
  2. I have been watching the cricket and tennis of late. Shaun Marsh on occassions looks a lot like Chooka to me. I also think Serena Williams looks a lot like the 2008 version of Aussie
  3. Name the first Melbourne Footballer who took constructive criticism onboard - and then delivered an emphatic answer = Brad Green.
  4. I remember him fondly. He made his mark with MFC just after Darren Cuthbertson proved himself to be flash in the pan. Jacko was a charasmatic chraracter - and a talented one at that. The image of him kissing his brother after kicking a goal and high fiving fans - one of the best moments in football. Characters like that would not make it in today's sterile world of professional sportsman.
  5. Just a thought, could Frawley play a role in the forward line? - Similar to what Cambell Brown did this year - lots of grunt.
  6. From the limited footage I have seen of him - he reminds me of Daniel Ward. I love the fact that Watts, Blease and Strauss have all played together - saw some footage from Vic Metro games - Strauss to Blease, Blease to Watts - goaaaaaaaal!
  7. Excellent thread Nugget - I appreciate your insightful synopsis on individual draftees. You are a credit to this organisation and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter
  8. What an exciting prospect. Australia has had an influx of recent immigrants from Africa, Asia, South Pacific Islands, South America and Mars. Soccer, Rugby, Basketball, Cricket and Baseball were revolutionised by multiculturalism. How much improvement at AFL level will our new citizens bring over the next few decades?
  9. Excellent post. Forgot to mention; "Rolls Royce of the competition (Travis Johnstone)" - is very expensive. Has a massive reputation (based on nostalgia), is not practicle in the modern world (would have been Diesel in a bygone era).
  10. its a play on Baptised - new beginning - being converted to new faith.
  11. Kudos to Dean Bailey - he has not shirked a tough decision yet! He has made all decisions on individual form and the greater needs of the TEAM - the balance of the Force is shifting - he is Master Yoda.
  12. Dean Bailey under very adverse conditions has handled the media like a Premiership winning ten year coach - he has been honest, transparent, delivered on his promises and dropped a witty dry line when needed. If he coaches half as well as he handles the media he will be next Paul Roos - Roosy charmed the media before moulding the Swans into the TEAM that they are - self belief and cool in a crisis - flows from the top! Ladies and gentlemen, buckle in your seatbelts - MFC is about to be Bailtised!!!
  13. Copliments on your thread. I think something MFC needs to look at is how to generate revenues from sources outside of Melbourne supporters, attract a new happenning/untapped crowd. 1. Have the first openly Gay Player in the AFL - recruit Carson from [censored] Eye as a silky skilled ball magnet. 2. Recruit Ben Cousins - the cash will flow from unexpected sources of income. 3. Celebrate our Irish connection by letting the players get trashed with fans on St Paddy's day - Jonesy to be a Lapricorn. 4. Make our players household names by memorable off field performances - recruit Fevola to do TV ads like the wallabies did for Bundy Rum. 5. Attract publicity worldwide, by slaughtering a goat as a ritual for Satin before the start of home games (untill we get to unfurl the FLAG).
  14. I have no facts to back this up - but I dare say MFC has the most educated and wealthy supporter base of the AFL. Hence, MFC should be asking supporters to provide free/discounted services and products rather then paying for it. I for one, am more then happy to donate my time towards the club - to do volunteer work - just have no idea how or who to offer assistance.
  15. Being Melbourne supporter's shouldn't we be classed as unppassionate and devoid of inner strenght??
  16. Supporter blogs carry more weight and relevance then any article by a journalist (ex players included - trying to sell papers) because supporters make players into heroes and zeroes - without us, players have no feeling of selfworth as sportsmen (as they too grew up criticising and idolising players) - without players (good and bad) we are nothing but frustrated sportsmen with too much time on our hands. That is why we are passionate about sports - stuff politics!!
  17. Alistair Clarkson is the last listed Melbourne Footballer to taste sucess as a coach - he too like Bails is a product of Port Adelaide FC under M Williams - early criticism sound familiar??
  18. Sylvia = T Johnstone - time to trade him while he still has some currency - maybe top 20 pick???
  19. Don't forget C Connelly coached Freo previously - he may give us something - but then again MFC don't have a Pavlich... had a Farmer...Chisolm...Daniher...Gilbert...and Simmonds.
  20. When Neale D became coach over 10 yrs ago he said Melbourne MFC needed a spine a - we are left with Carrol, Rivers, Mclean, Miller and who??? - we still need a genuine spine!!
  21. I concur - time to stop talking shite - cull the list!!!
  22. Nathan Jones is the future leader of MFC - he is hard - in and under - fair on the field - and does not rely on others to get the ball for him!!! Bails let the revolution begin!!!
  23. Valenti shows more heart, soul, intent and leadership then most of the currently listed Melbourne players - round 7 - time to move towards the future!!
