  1. Anyone know what our inside 50 stats were? That is an area we really struggled in last year - even Roughy and Buddy can't win a game if the ball isn't coming inside 50. Considering the significant development of our backline and recruitment of high draft pick midfielders we are using a similar development plan to Geelong rather then Hawthorn. Either way I don't mind, as long as our young players improve their skills as a collective group and build a strong team ethos based on courage, gut running and sticking together rather then chasing big money.
  2. I remember a friend's Father having an official MFC can of Beer (can of Beer in MFC colours and logo), that must be now about 30 - 40 yrs old that he was saving for a Premiership. Anyone got similar items or plans they have been saving for a premiership?
  3. I was watching a sports show on ABC this morning - The Offsiders - and a comment was made on club culture directly impacting on and reflecting through players and supporters alike. A concrete example given was the way a premiership win is celebrated by certain clubs/players/supporters vs others. For example it was proposed that Hawthorn players, officials and supporters celebrated in a sportsman like and professsional manner as oppossed to the boorish way West Coast celebrated their during the Judd/Cousins era. My question is; given the looooong drought between MFC premierships - how would you celebrate a premiership win?
  4. Melbourne in the last two weeks has faced Fire, heavy winds, storms and even an earthquake. MFC has recently merged with the Scorpions and fought with the dogs for a major sponsor. In search of Salvation, the Demons have been exorcised and the Saints have been called upon
  5. That is pure gold. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter
  6. I rate Mr Jones quiet highly - and I agree that he had a tough 2008 and will learn a lot from the close attention he copped. On another note I do recall hearing that he has a famous sporting mother - any idea who?
  7. I totally agree with you - I think Wonna's injury is due to over training. I am pretty sure Sydney Swans use a software to risk manage players over the year - however it requires a history of previous injuries to identify high risk areas. Nonetheless the curse of injuries to key MFC players continues.
  8. Thanks everyone. By the numbers it appears that Matty Whelan is the Indigenous player to have played the most senior games for MFC - this is a fantastic achievement by "Wheels". I for one hope his record will be smashed by Jurrah, Jetta, Bennel and Wonameari. I would have also included Davey, but I feel he won't play in our next premiership.
  9. True. But from memory, I think only one played seniors??
  10. Considering the healthy number of Indigenous players currently on our list, I would love to know the names of all the Indigenous players to have played senior footy for MFC. I can recall M Whelan, A Davey, A Wonameari, S Motlop, J Farmer, S Charles, B Pickett, S Chisolm, One of the Cockatoo-Collins (Donald or David), Isaac Weetra and a former Melbourne and Port Adelaide player who's name I cannot recall (currently has a court case re: domestic violence).
  11. I wouldn't mind playing Frawley in the forward flank - much like Cambell Brown did late last year. Definately has the size, speed and tenacity to lock the ball in and make some crunching tackles. Spills can be cleaned up by our Indigenous Army and Maric.
  12. I don't have fox - can someone tell me about Grimes' smother late in the last quarter. I recall someone saying that Grimes is a Kirk type player - who you want playing for your life when it matters most - not flashy but all heart. Was it just a normal smother - or something out of nowherre?
  13. Could be our major sponsor with masta (bate) as the face of the product
  14. I think we need to look at this game in a constructive way - first game at Launceston and none of our draft picks from last year except for Bail. Lots of room for improvement - Watts in the Forward line
  15. If we win or not, I want someone new to step up e.g Grimes, Frawley or Martin.
  16. Could we lose it from here? - Roughead first goal, Williams a shot at goal, and Morton kicks a goal.
  17. Brad Green seems to be playing with gay abandon and enjoying is footy again.
  18. Nothing unites Victoria like a game of Footy between two Melbourne clubs. On a side note - the amount of courage shown by the CFA volunteers is astounding. They all deserve a special medal.
  19. The presentation prior to the match starting showed how much this one game means to Indigenous players. It was almost like a right of passage/initiation for the young players. The serious intent on the faces of all the players showed how much it means for them to represent their people. I recently read an article on Griffen and Campbell. It appears that Aaron Davey is seen as an elder statesman amongst the "Indigenous Brotherhood". This is great news for our recent Indigenous recruits. I am sure, our revival as a super power will be driven by the skill, speed and unity these boys will bring . On a side note, does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the Indigenous players to have played a senior game for MFC?
  20. I smell something fishy "Rude Boy". No self respecting "filth" supporter would (a) support a player who left the club, (B) admit to being a "filth" supporter on another clubs forum, © close friend of boy from woop woop - yet on the internet forums hey??
