  1. Credit to Dean Bailey and co. We've really set this up well, nullifying Hawthorn's run.
  2. Good rippage of Pickering's call. Decent start. Important to keep pressure up.
  3. Good PR for Melbourne. Nice little ploy.
  4. Jones - Needs to add a new dimension to his game. Bate - Needs to be given a key place in the team. Dunn - Consolidate yourself within a role. Robertson - If we are to move forward, we need you showing the young boys up forward the way.
  5. It is not very often the MFC receives positive news articles or in general have a day where the media attention is focused on us. Today was great. Very happy with all of our recruits. Onwards and Upwards for the Melbourne Football Club.
  6. Spoke with Patrick again tonight. Travis just generally misses the MFC. Doesnt like living in Brisbane and the training the Lions do. I think Patrick had spoken to him tbh.
  7. Facts here are wrong. As above mentioned. Regardless, the boy is only 17/18 we cannot expect miracles of him.
  8. My point exactly. Anyway what I meant was Chris wouldnt be traded unless it was a top 10 pick, IMO. And that aint happening.
  9. Think I may have been misunderstood. I wasnt classing CJ up against TJ, just comparing the role CJ could perhaps play. Right now our midfield doesnt have a classy/quick/extraskillful player. Mostly tough, in-and-under ones.
  10. Firstly just want to say thankgod we kept hold of him during last years Trade week. Anyway to the point. Do you think CJ could have the impact Travis did in the midfield. Although hes doing really well off the half back flank, I see him eventually pushing into the midfield and really adding the touch of polish and class through there we really lack at times. Thoughts?
  11. Newton could be gone before he knows it, if he doesnt do something with his next chance.
  12. CJ is a definate no. Hes going to be as good as Travis, give it time. Carroll would be of some interest to clubs like Fremantle, Adelaide maybe. Pick 20-40 would be good!
  13. Natinui is to much of a talent to overlook. All of the above names mentioned I would be happy with though.
  14. Agreed. It was much more toned, WTF's with the Grey?
  15. Demons break all-time membership record Thu 03 July, 2008 The Melbourne Football Club has officially broken its all-time membership record, following the release of final membership figures for the 2008 season. As of 30 June, the Club had signed a total of 29,619 members, surpassing the previous record of 28,077 members set in 2007. The strong surge in membership has come in the three weeks following the arrival of Jim Stynes and his new board. In the final three weeks before the 30 June cut-off, the membership department was inundated by sales, with an additional 2,295 members pledging their support to the Club in that time. Club President Jim Stynes said it was a great achievement to reach the membership record. “We thank all of our 29,619 members, who have pledged their support to the Melbourne Football Club in our 150th anniversary year. “This is a strong achievement for the Club, and caps off an exciting three week period. Considering where the membership number was at only three weeks ago, it is a milestone achievement to break the record, and everyone at the Club can be proud of that. “Personally, I have been overwhelmed by the groundswell of support the Club has received since the arrival of our new board. It’s great to see so many loyal and passionate supporters signing up and being a part of the rejuvenation of this great Club. “This is also a clear indication that our members have belief and faith in our on-field future under the guidance of coach Dean Bailey. “There is no doubt that 29,619 members is a fantastic base to be working with, and we will aim for a bigger and better result in 2009. To do this, we need to give our fans the emotional and rational reasons to support this club, regardless of who we’re playing - or what position we hold on the ladder. Sunday afternoon’s win against the Brisbane Lions is a great example of the excitement this club can produce”.
  16. The courage shown by Brock Typifies the closeness the current group have. I feel confident in saying every player out there on Sunday play for the jumper.
  17. Its good to see Chopper Lovell and his staff playing him in a range of roles. Good development for the kid.
  18. Jaaack Grimes! Positive signs. Make his debut for the Sandy seniors this week then?
  19. Fantastic article. Good reading Mike. The future is bright for the Melbourne Football Club.
  20. I think he will get one more chance to impress. If he does well he might just get one more year. The ball is in his court though.
  21. Cam Bruce - Capt. James McDonald - Co Vice. Brock McLean - Co Vice. Brad Green. Matthew Warnock.
  22. Ahhhh, yes!. Hes going to be as tough as nails like Riccuito too.
  23. Where do we all think the MFC will finish next year. With another good pre-season into our youngsters and a bit more experience. Add a couple of (hopefully) talented first round draft picks, could we push for a top eight finish or is that a few years away yet. I think this club will thrive under Dean Baileys management. Could be a while yet though.
