  1. Me too and I have another grandchild on the way as does WJ.
  2. I am in New York and arrive back before the Swans game next week and share your sentiments, Old Dee. Thank you all for Demonland, it is a great read when you are away.
  3. Hi guys from a cruise ship in the Pacific about to cross the Panama Canal. Glad the boys had a real dip last night and that we are starting to gell a bit. With Chip out and Mitch and LJ it was a great effort. If we inject some speed and skill in the midfield at the draft or trading we will be a decent side next year. Keep well and back for the Sydney game. Love reading Demonland while away, I feel like I am there with you all.
  4. Good post. You don't boo your own. I recall at a Carlton game years ago many years ago fans booing Ange Christou and even Kouta and both had great careers with them and those same fans would then kiss their arses. Typical Carlton. We don't need to behave like them. I hope Cale continues to improve and becomes a consistently good footballer for us. A bit more strength and who knows.
  5. Didn't see the game yet as I am overseas, but I have posted previously that JT is not quick and I think that is going to be a problem. When some people say we can't go for young quick players I believe that is what we are missing. Obviously wet nights negate speed but generally we need a couple of quick skilfull mids who can spread and deliver. Then we will be a decent side.
  6. Thanks, leaving today. I think you posted earlier you are also going away, if so enjoy your trip.
  7. Starting to look like the game against GWS at the G could be our big one. Not too many others where we can be optimistic.Perhaps the return game in Canberra and the GC one.
  8. I am sorry for starting a new thread but this is a new topic. Could Demonlanders please only start a new thread where it is necessary. We don't need 100 threads discussing our game style, poor midfield or the recent game when there is a Post Match thread for that very purpose. Please look at existing threads before you start a new one and see if your post belongs there rather than starting a whole new thread. It is very difficult to follow the board the way things are going. Thank you for your assistance.
  9. Another batch of new threads all relating to yesterday or the past two weeks, which could have gone on the Post Match thread.
  10. Every time they flipped the ball out to Foley that was it. He was off and no one got near him and often a goal resulted. We are too slow in the midfield and it has killed us in every game so far. Then when we need to defend our mids don't, except Jones and there is no run created out of the backline. It also seems that every game we refuse to man up on a player who is loose or kiliing us, yesterday Grigg and against Lions, Black. I can't remember who it was against Eagles but I think it could have been Shuey.
  11. It is next to the pic of T$ on draft day in a Melbourne jumper. Actually I think that pic showed him holding the jumper, while every other one of the top ten wore theirs.
  12. I actually don't bet anymore, been at least 10 years since last bet. The way I am going at the moment with the Dees if I had wanted to back Ethiopia, I would have probably backed Kenya by mistake.
  13. The sad thing is that when the media talks about tanking it is always us that gets dragged up as the example and then on top of that we lost the player we got for doing it. No other club has lost their number 1 pick within 2 years. Even Gary was taken a lot further down the list as a father/son selection. The use of the two compo picks is absolutely vital to our future IMO. Use them well, plus Jack Viney and maybe another good selection later and we are well on the way. Add these players to a young list with several players at about 50-60 games and you are in a far better position than we are at the moment.
  14. Agree too. Shocking umpiring sapped our confidence, gave them 5 soft goals, robbed us of a couple and then in the second half they ran over us, Our players wilted in the heat against a better opponent in the second half and with all hope gone surrendered meekly. Had we had the breaks we may have lasted a bit longer and had a smaller defeat. Contested possession was our way in the first half. Interesting sidelight, Dermie on Fox league teams showed Hams in the Grimes/Waters incident take a large step lowering his body just before the tackle but then throw his head back as if hit in the jaw before the Melbourne player touched him. Other clubs are doing this and getting frees. Dermie called it cheating and that it should be stamped out by the umpires. I am sure the first time we try it we will see it outlawed.
  15. Just want us in the game right to the end, so that there is something to watch. Alternatively a huge win would not upset me either.
  16. Don't they refer to lowest score as a record as well. Therefore both clubs would hold part of the record on the frees disparity.
  17. Well at least we hold one AFL record, 23-1 early in the third quarter. God we must be a filthy side.
  18. Have been so busy haven't even seen fields. Wii tape all races as usual while at footy.
  19. Well finally some good news. New sponsor. Hopefully more to come. A win saturday would be great.
  20. No he is a recruiting officer not the head of recruiting. Viney holds that position for this year.
  21. Might also be able to help in some off field issues from time to time.
