  1. You would think we would get a good crowd saturday, first game, good weather, we will see.
  2. Believe it or not I am worried about the 29 degrees predicted. That will help them enormously.
  3. Beaten a short half head on a hard leaders track. Great effort from him as he comes from the back and likes some give in the ground.
  4. I hesitate to post this but I have Briefed running soon at Sandown at 4.40. If he can get a clear run at them in the straight from not too far back he should be in the finish.
  5. Smashing Andrew Demetriou for starters. Getting stuck into Caro for being the AFL mouthpiece for another.
  6. I taped all of the Stynes tribute games plus the funeral service today and I have probably got 15 hours to watch, in addition to On the Couch and my daily AFL 360 plus this weeks game against the Lions. I will have square eyes when I finish.
  7. Well I put the Kiss of Death on Evans when I selected him to be my big improver this year. He may not even play this year.
  8. Lets say we gave him another year and he went off happy. At the end of the year Sheedy gives him an assistant coach job. Then like this year he decides to play on for a while to help the young GWS boys. Then all we are arguing about is whether he should have played 2011 with us. I don't think he should have. We could never have stopped him having a go with GWS, unless maybe we played him until he was 40.
  9. And you would rather Junior for one more year than who from the list below: Melbourne 12. LUCAS COOK (North Ballarat Rebels, 18, 196cm, 81kg) Mobile, marking forward with clean hands and the ability to read the play well. Can head back into defence too. All-Australian 2010. 33. JEREMY HOWE (Hobart, 20, 190cm, 80kg) Tall, marking forward who can take hangers and run: he's posted a level 14 beep test. 50. TROY DAVIS (Geelong Falcons, 18, 192cm, 90kg) A tall defender who played a lot of school football in Geelong this year and really came in in the last half of the year. Strong, and competitive. 53. TOM McDONALD (North Ballarat, 18, 194cm, 88kg) Has grown up playing mostly in the ruck. The Dees are hoping he'll grow a bit more but if not see him as a forward: he has a good leap and can run. 81. JORDIE McKENZIE (promoted rookie) 96. JAKE SPENCER (promoted rookie) Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/2010-afl-national-draft-who-your-club-picked-20101118-17zfd.html#ixzz1q6CNKmLp
  10. GWS shouldn't be taken lightly and need to be shut down, to stop the free flowing game style. If not, they will hurt you when they gain experience. They have very skilled, quick players, but obviously without the strength and experience. You need to play them on your terms not theirs. They also have a good smart coach in Choco.
  11. Can't believe people are saying that history ( one game for GWS ) is proving we made a mistake letting Junior go. He was rising 34 and injured and we had a stack of young kids that needed games to gain experience, like Jordie Mc, Gys and Nicholson etc. We are rebuilding not a GF side. If he doesn't get a kick next game what will "history" have showed us.
  12. Sorry Jaded but you are wrong on both points. We gave Junior the captaincy and 240 odd games and when rising 34 we decided to play younger players like Jordie Mc, Nicholson and Gys etc. Had we have not done that we would have hindered their progress and the team's progress, for a guy with maybe one year left in him at best. Absolutely correct decision to make. We were rebuilding, not a finals side. Junior will not be in their side late in the year IMO. We also didn't push him to play for GWS. He went there as a Coach and like Cornes, Brogan and Power is playing while he can, to give some grunt and experience on the ground. They are short term players for GWS. Don't hear the Power or Lions supporters upset that they have moved on younger players than Junior was.
  13. I give that 0% chance. I think his father will drag the big offer from GWS and then put it on the Pies to nearly match it saying he wants to stay a Pie. He will take a bit less to stay. Pies will either ante up or he heads to GWS.
  14. Just reflecting on the Rendell "sacking" after reading a couple more articles in the papers. Would not the best thing for all sides have been for Mifsud, an AFL Official working in the indigenous area, to have reprimanded Rendell there and then about inappropriate comments. Rendell would have understood the unacceptable nature of what was said, no matter the intention and all would have continued with a lesson learned. That to me would have been the best way to deal with it rather than ratting on a mate about a private conversation to the media and ended up with that mate being sacked without any attempt at fixing the problem. What has been achieved here, nothing other than a non AFL employed person being publicly villified and then sacked. Really helps the problem, that!
  15. Is it just me or are others feeling it too, but the AFL is really getting me offside. I just want to see football and all I am seeing is them stuffing up.
  16. As a side issue I can't wait for the day that Patton leaves GWS, so that they know how it feels.
  17. We should. Malthouse from Eagles. Buckley from Lions. Rocca from Swans. Ball from Saints. Jolly from Swans. Should I go on? We should be ashamed.
  18. Not a bad suggestion. He is disciplined enough to sacrifice his game to stop a dangerous clearance player. He is fit enough to run with one. If he limits the other side's clearances and can get his hands on a couple of possies and can "handball" it to us, he could be very effective. It also reduces the turnovers off half back flank when he gets it. Also agree, that it could allow a younger player with better disposal, ( not Nicholson) and more speed, to open up the game for us.
  19. The AFL appreciates things being brought up well after the event.
  20. Hope it also includes film of a win against the Dogs.
  21. He apologized completely. Said he didn't mean to attack Jim, but rather questioned why other good people didn't get as much publicity and a state funeral. Said Jim was a great guy who did a lot of good work. That he was terribly sorry and that he was stupid to say what he did. Move on.
