We don't sell a game there, we are made to play there every year, due to the AFL contract with Etihad.
-
And their choice was?
-
Most will.
-
They obviously didn't listen.
-
Then you would have seen me and heard me screaming at the box, from about 5 minutes into the game, to get someone onto Nick. Clearly no one in the box did.
-
Hurley is a free agent as his contract has been breached. Therefore you don't trade for him, you just have to get his signature.

This irks me big time.

Agree with most of that. I probably used the wrong term when I referred to "bleeding " goals and really meant, allowing "easy uncontested goals." However, it is clear, that when we had a turnover or loss of possession, or they gained a clearance, the Saints players were already running forward and even if we chased, which we did, we would not catch them and they would have loose men up forward inside their 50. The first thing that caused this was poor skill in handballing and kicking. The second was intensity at the ball and then the use of spread on gaining possession. The third was anticipation by the Saints that they would win the ball. This is a high risk game strategy, I know and is so dependent on who gains possession and what you then do with the ball. For those reasons I was so concerned about fresh legs and bringing in another strong clearance player, who with the loss of Brayshaw, to me was a fresh, young, Oliver.

Gresham was pretty good too, according to the Coach.

It's not easy to kick a football 15 metres between two big posts, 7 metres apart, when that is all you do and you have been practicing it for the last 6 months.
-
That's where our skill errors killed us. I just loved the 20-30 handballs to a team mate's ankles, or directly to a Saint. I also loved the many mis kicks.

Thanks for calling my thoughts complete rubbish. If you look at the goals we conceded against the Pies and Tigers, many of them were similar to yesterday, where of course more were scored, in the same manner. Call that complete rubbish if you like, but winning a game doesn't mean you haven't bled goals. I am talking about the simple, unopposed, uncontested, over the top, to the loose man type of goals. If you watched yesterday you would see how most of the Saints goals were scored, it was the same in the last two games, but we happened to score more and win. It is not simply being on, structure plays a big part in it as well. We had none yesterday. Skill errors also killed us yesterday.

To have only brought in one player, a new player, who copped so much publicity, was poor. CP was ok and I don't look at him at all in regards to yesterday, other than to say the club made it all about him and that was poor, also. He should have been one of about 3 ins, like the Saints. As I said before, how did the 3 Saints who came in go?
-
Unfortunately the Pies and Tigers win papered over some of our cracks. We bled goals in both games, but won. Those goals came the same way as yesterday. 2 dollies over the top to Cloke. Dollies over the top to Jack Reiwoldt and Lloyd. The quick entry to loose men, who have run hard, to get free in the forward 50. Yetserday was coming and the only ones who didn't see it coming, were the Coaches, who selected poorly and coached worse.

Unfortunately we had a plan, which didn't work, but the defenders stuck to it and that allowed Nick to roam free. If we would have just manned him up, even with a different player each quarter it would have cut the Saints goals down. However, our Coaching box stuck to their plan and allowed a loss to happen, without even trying to stop it. I think Nick was involved in nearly every Saints goal in the first 3 quarters. Most of his possessions were uncontested. Like the Bombers game, because of our game plan and structure, we saw Jetta or Bugg or Hunt on Nick close to goal with the ball coming in. Same happened with Daniher, who got his highest marks tally ever marking over Jetta, Bugg and other midgets. Our players were poor but our Coaches were poorer.
-
We are his bunny.
-
We both had short breaks between games and the Saints brought in 3 fresh players. We brought in one, a first gamer. How did the 3 Saints go? As with the Bombers game, we started stuffing up at selection, followed it with poor match day coaching, then poor skill and disposal and ended with a lack of effort, from most of the side.
-
And the fact that an 85 year old Saints Captain ran harder and put in more effort than any Demon, is a disgrace.

Great game, this club gives me so much joy.

And plenty of us in the stands, but not in the Coaches' box. We appear to lack a plan B. When you see something happening, that if you let it continue you will lose, surely you at least try something else. I am fearful we have an arrogant Coaching box, that will just blame the players, if they don't win under the same plan. We could have thrown in a sweeper, tagged Riewoldt, or played man on man, even for a while, just to change things up, but not one change. It was the same in the Bombers' game. Yes we played poorly and yes the Saints worked harder and played better and yes our skills were once again deplorable, but the Coaching was pathetic. I hope for our future that this is not the way Goodwin will coach, not the plan, but the refusal to adapt to a game, where the plan isn't working.

Too many on here drink their own bath water and think we are better than we are. We needed fresh legs on a short week but no. We we needed to change and man up on Reiwoldt but no. We needed a sweeper to stop their loose man up forwarding every single 50 entry but no. Poor play and poor coaching and selecting.

Into the 2nd year of the $million a year contract and shown nothing, despite playing in a good side.

I see a few of these top sides with old lists, struggling, when they have a mass retirement of several of their older guys. Many of them are great players who will not be easily replaced. I predicted a Freo drop, but not as bad as we are seeing, though injuries haven't helped them, but I think that is the way of older lists that hit the ceiling. Thankfully we now have a young talented list, that will be our platform for success.

Pity that Gus doesn't get to play in the first game of his mate. I am disappointed that 2 of our 4 hardest clearance players are out. Gus and Oliver. I am worried about Bugg today.

Roos want access to best Tassie youngsters Article on AFL site suggesting Roos want a Tassie Academy to get first crack at players and AFL is receptive to the idea. Wonderful. http://afl.com.au/news/2016-04-29/kangas-tassie-academy-a-possibility-says-lethlean
