  1. Fair enough.
  2. Ross Lyon is close to Harley and he said on Footy Classified that he wouldn't get another contract from Melbourne and that he had problems away from footy to deal with. Given that statement Harley could be finished with AFL footy.

    He's gone then.
  4. Why are North pushing him out the door? Something must be wrong for them to actively get rid of a player who has kicked over 60 goals in each of 2017,18 & 19.
  5. I think that most people on here admire JV and the way he goes about his footy. The two criticisms of him most cite, are first, that he tries to barge through players, causing free kicks against him and turnovers, when he ultimately tries to get rid of the ball, while being tackled and second, that his disposal by hand and foot is not great. I agree with those two criticisms. If that then leads you to conclude that I and others who share the same view, have nfi when it comes to football intelligence, then right back at you, having nfi when it comes to football intelligence, and is proved by what you fail to see, of the way he is playing at the moment. PS. Criticizing an aspect of a player's game, doesn't mean you don't like or value his other contributions, but rather it is recognizing an area that maybe he can improve, to enhance his game and thereby his contribution to the team.

Good luck on your retirement Jack, you gave us a lot of joy in an ordinary side. He is a friendly approachable guy and was never up himself. Hope to see you at a Dees game in the future.
  7. Jye Caldwell? Don't know O'Halloran. Maybe both if they are better than what we have. Preuss is a valuable commodity now and there should be no fire sale.
  8. Will have to rookie an experienced ruckman if he goes, to allow LJ and Bradtke time to develop.

ET stop posting here and get back to breaking trade news on the Trade Board. You are the man. You did say that Jack Watts has retired didn't you?
  10. I think ET the trade news breaker will soon announce Daniher to Lions.

Surprised at Dunkley, but good luck to all 3 boys and thanks for being part of the MFC.

Russell Robertson says hi. Went from the worst kick in the side to the best, in one pre season with help and practice.

That is what I said, 38 on main list, that is 2 less than this year. "How many players are on AFL lists now? Teams have between 38 and 40 footballers on their 'primary' list, and either four, five or six Category A rookies for a maximum combination of 44.Apr 4, 2020"
  14. Great end to the season. Miss finals. Covid breach. Inappropriate touching. Good to be a Dees fan.
  15. Well now that he has been suspended and the club fined, it is open for informed comment. It is very disappointing for all concerned in this and especially as Harley was given a lifeline by the club, when his footy career appeared over. He is a husband and father and presumably this is his main source of income and to put that at risk is really unbelievable. FWIW I think they will give him a one year deal.

The AFL will not slash list sizes, they will be reduced gradually, by about 2 this year and 2 next year and maybe 1 the third year, is my guess.
  17. No and they are not coming off a 4 day break since Alice Springs and 3 games in 9 days. Nor is it pouring and blowing a gale.
  18. I didn't realise that Walters was out injured. That makes it pretty hard for the Dockers. The Dogs have had the dream draw staying, and playing at the GC for most of their games. They have met weakened sides like in the Eagles game, without Nic Nat, Yeo, Cripps, Shuey, Hurn, Redden and others. Against the Eagles they were also 3 of their 6 goals from soft frees and beat them by a dodgy goal line call, in the last score of the game. They had the best of the umpiring, allowing them to throw the ball to each other and getting soft frees in front of goal in many games and yes I watched most of them. They hardly travelled. Now for the Cairns game they were allowed to go up early unlike us who were forced to go on the day, being our 3rd interstate game in 9 days. Is all of that an excuse for us, no, but it sure was a help to the Dogs. Hope they get smashed today, so we can again be the travelling team in the finals, to add to our leader record for this year in games travelled away from home or from our temporary home. BTW, if we fluke it and get in, I actually think we can beat the Eagles in Perth, as they are not at their best and have a few injuries as well. End of rant.
  19. I don't think we should wait for the facts, I think we should hang the bloke and then later on see what it is all about. What if he had been told he is not playing again this year and maybe even will be delisted? So, what if thinking he is finished, he goes out for some drinks, leaving the hub and not intending to return to it, which he hasn't. In that scenario where is the Covid breach? Maybe that is not the scenario, but can we wait until we know exactly what happened, before we have him tried, convicted and retired from the AFL.
  20. Would you do Sparrow and ANB for Fogarty, if Viney and Brayshaw stay? I think we have others who can go into the middle for periods.
  21. Players can kick goals and might not be natural forwards. Lockhart kicked goals but everyone says he is a defender. I actually believe he is a better forward. Hooker and Tom Mac played most of their footy in defence, but kicked goals when moved forward. Are they natural forwards or adaptable. I think natural forwards are the guys like Breust, Papley, A.MacTipungwuti, Miers, Betts, De Goey, Gray, Ryan, Stephenson, Walters and past players like Cyril, Flash and the Wiz etc, who can make goals out of nothing and take their opportunities. Pickett will be our next one, once he starts converting his chances. Anyway as others have said, opinions are just that.

It’s in his head. Practices and hardly ever misses. Needs to talk to a psychologist about self induced pressure/stress. In his first year as a new player with no expectations he hardly missed.
  23. Would look at him. Send ANB home with something else.
  24. Get rid of their best young key forward. Yes that will happen. Weid, LJ ,Petty and TMac ( back to full fitness) is a start, with Brown also for another year to pinch hit. Yes if we can get a good key forward, absolutely.
