  1. 3 ticks - saw him in all of them. Can only think perhaps they are confusing Meesen with Jamar???
  2. This smells fishy to me! I did a little research into treatment of a stress fractures. Nowhere does it mention a reco! Happy to post the link if anyone wants to read it direct from the source. Read on below A Treatment Guide For Lower Extremity Stress Fractures While treatment for lower extremity stress fractures, in and around the ankle, varies, here is our treatment protocol for specific lower extremity stress fractures.6 • Medial malleolar. Use a nonweightbearing (NWB), below-knee (BK) cast or boot for three to four weeks, and then proceed to weightbearing (WB) with a BK boot for four weeks. Patient should be able to return to activity (RTA) within 26 to 36 weeks. Orava, et. al., have found healing can take five months with these injuries.7 Shelbourne et. al., recommend open reduction, internal fixation (ORIF) and a NWB BK cast for four weeks, proceeding to a BK boot for two to four weeks, and an estimated RTA in six to 12 weeks.8 • Lateral malleolar. Have the patient maintain WB in an air cast for four to six weeks. The estimated RTA may range from eight to 12 weeks. Be aware that there may be a prolonged healing period, particularly among post-menopausal women. • Tibial epiphyseal plate. Emphasize NWB in a boot for two to four weeks and then proceed to WB in a boot for two to four weeks. The RTA ranges from four to eight weeks. • Navicular. For type I fractures (dorsal cortical break only), emphasize NWB in a BK cast or boot for six to eight weeks and then proceed to a WB boot for four weeks. The patient’s RTA may range between four to six months. Types II and III are fractures that propagate into or completely through the navicular cortex. For optimal treatment, use ORIF with a bone graft across the fracture site. Follow up with six weeks of NWB in a BK cast and then proceed to the WB boot for two to four weeks. The RTA for these patients ranges between three and four months.9 In our experience, most patients who have had conservative treatment of types II and III navicular injuries either never completely heal, give up on their sport, and/or develop significant talonavicular and sometimes cuneo-navicular arthrosis. • Medial tibial. Have these patients wear an Aircast (pneumatic) brace for four weeks. The patient’s RTA may occur between four and 12 weeks. This is supported by the work of Swenson, et. al.10 You may use a “standard” version of the brace for lower lesions or a “long leg” version for more proximal lesions. • Anterior tibial. Use the Aircast long leg brace with anterior panel for four to six weeks of NWB. Then proceed to six weeks of WB. The patient’s RTA may range between 12 and 26 weeks. Clanton, et. al., also recommend electric bone stimulation and even IM Nailing for recalcitrant injuries.11 All stress fracture time protocols here are general references. The succession of each stage of treatment is based on pain. Remember, X-rays and other imaging techniques may lag behind the actual healing so assessing clinical signs and symptoms is paramount. We also address the patient’s lower extremity biomechanics with orthoses and shoe accommodations when necessary. Hmmm...... no reco required??!!
  3. Wayne who?? I thought he was dead! Turns out he's just irrelevant.
  4. Great post. I went out to watch Maric a couple of times for Casey and definately think he was worthy of the promotion to senior level, think I actually noted it in another thread. The games I saw him play, his movement was fantastic. I still think his movement yesterday was exellent, but his disposal and desicion making showed he was overawed by the occasion. This will only get better with experience. Kids are most definately not a quick fix option, but they are building a foundation for future success so the more experience we can get into them, the better.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Thought his commitment to the ball was inspirational. I think Miller was preturbed by this and elected not to make contact. He should have contested for that mark and cleaned up Selwood in the process, that would have said more about toughness than Bruce's actions. Bruce's 'coathanger' was lazy and about as sloppy as his disposal.
  6. Have you lost the plot or did you drink alot at the game today? I suggest you might want to go in for a cold shower. By the way, since when did 'pompous' become your word of the day? Moving right along, I think this little spat might have hijacked the actual puprose of this thread, which is to evoke dicussion based on our players performance. I thought you were a bit harsh on Stef Martin Joeboy. He showed good signs up forward and created some great opportunities. Certainly didn't look out of his depth.
  7. Not saying he doesn't, I look forward to reading Joeboy's comments each week, just challenging the abitrary rules relating to posting in this thread. Just because you start a thread, doesn't mean you can dictate how responses should be made. To assume the tone in my response was pompous is an extreme misinterpretaion. In my own mind it sounded like I was simply expressing a matter-of-fact statement. However, if that is how you read it, I'm sorry for your lack of understanding.
  8. Wouldn't be ready to send him back to Casery based on 1 horrid performance. Truth is Addam was able to find the ball very well today, his disposal was absolutley putrid, but that is so far from the norm for him. Whether he was overawed or trying too hard I'm not sure, but he has to be given another chance.
  9. Why? Who died and made you king? I think you'll find we'll say what we like where, when and how we want, like it or not.
  10. http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4742/newsid/75964/default.aspx Kennett has destroyed AA in this letter and there's no rebutal that won't make AA look like a [censored]! Don't mess with the master!
  11. I actually like the Umpires being miked up. It gives me an indication as to what thought process was going through the umpires mind. I don't always agree, but I think it's much better than an unexplained desicion. I also don't mind umpires using players nicknames, it helps them create a relationships with the palyers, which is only going to improve the perceived preciousness being exhibited by the AFL. It's important to note that none of what Kennettt complains about is the umpires fault, it is the AFL's fault. They are the people directing the umpires to alter thier interpretations and they should be held responsible, not the umpires. Also agree that umpires should not be directing players on the field with 'get it out' comments. They are there to call it as they see it, not as they would like it to be. Again, this directive has been handed down from the AFL. FWIW thought the umpiring was alot better this weekend. Sure they made a few mistakes, but they paid far less free kicks. I'd much rather the umps pay fewer free kicks and miss the odd one than get over zealous and start to break the pace of the game up. The AFL deserve thier fair whack, but the umps deserve a bit more support.
  12. 6. Davey 5. Moloney 4. Frawley 3. McLean 2. McDonald 1. Bennell
  13. Morton, Davey, Bennell can all fill that roll very well.
  14. I'd offer up Sylvia, Newton & Bartram for him
  15. McLaren should be droppped for failing to make significant contact with that Collingwood Pissant!
  16. He forgot Jake Spencer = Screetch
  17. Imagine a forward line with Robbo, Miller, Watts & Newton - not too many teams that could muster up the tall timer to cover all of them. Newton wouldn't get the better defenders every week. Alot of options there.
  18. Bartram - Welcome to Casey Bate - Not his best Bennell - Showing some promise Bruce - Good & bad Davey - Creates the play Dunn - An honest effort Frawley - Best effort yet Green - D'oh D'oh D'oh Jetta - Skills need improvement Johnson - Just did enough Jones - Good hard worker Martin - Rock solid Stef McLean - Looked alot better Meesen - Slotted in nicely Miller - Hit packs hard Moloney - True demon heart Morton - Always finds time Newton - Provided good target Petterd - What a tackle! Rivers - The Defence's General Sylvia - Brilliant 2nd quarter Warnock - Beaten not disgraced
  19. Bartram played on Nahas and was towelled up by a rookie. He constantly gives his opponent 2-3 meters space, I'm still not sure why, perhaps he thinks he can do some damage if there's a turnover. I also think it's useless playing a dedicated tagger in the backline. We need tight accountable players who can spoil, win the ball and then create and hit targets from the backline. I don't think Bartram is capable of doing these things on a consistent basis. He might have the odd good quarter, but that's about it. Changes for mine, OUT: Green, Bartram, Bate IN: Grimes (if fit, if not Cheney), Maric, Robertson (Looks ready to go)
  20. Loved the affiliation we had with Sandy, if for no other reason, than to see Dees players to win Premierships! As a Casery resident, I am rapt to see them down this way, for obvious reasons. Thanks Sandy, GO SCORPS!!
  21. Went to the game tonight and enjoyed the game. For what it's worth, these were my observations. Maric - MUST be selected next week. Worked hard all day, showed great evasiveness and was highly effective, looks like the player we all wanted Sylvia to be. If Jetta has another quiet day, they will most definately swap positions next week. Mortified not to see him in our best! Robbo - Can't be far at all from a senior call up. If for no other reason than the lack of goal kicking options up forward. Jurrah - Kids got skills! You can see that he is still learning the finer points of the game, but wouldn't be surprised if he had a senior call up in the latter half of the season. Spencer - Hot & Cold, his kicking is awful to watch, leaves your heart in your mouth everytime he drops the ball to his foot, there's so much margin for error. Looks like Screetch from 'Saved by the bell'. Grimes - Class act, hits targets, remians composed, makes good decisions and runs hard. Won't be long before we see him in the seniors. McKenzie - Played reasonably well, didn't set my world on fire though (I'm sure that's important to him). Could develop into a good player, will need to spend a bit more time a Casey though. Valenti - Worked hard all day and won plenty of the footy. His skills still leave a bit to be desired. Would love to see him get the call up to give Brock a rest, but don't think he can be elevated yet?? Zomer - Extremely underwhelming, beaten all night, get the feeling his career is at a very important crossroad. McNamara - Did ok, just ok, need to see more from him. There were an awful lot of turnovers due to skill errors, mainly from the Casey players. Makes me wonder how difficult it must be to develop AFL players in this sort of competition? Thoughts?
  22. Completely agree. Bartram's disposal is atrocious. You can almost see the panic on his face every time he takes possesion. He make Simon Godfrey' look like Nathan Buckley. He is not in our best 22 by a long shot. It's also becoming increasingly obvious that Brock is playing injured. If he's not, can someone explain to me what has happened to the limited pace he used to have? He lloks like he's walking out there.
  23. Watched this kid as a junior, he played in the same league as my brother. He was nigh on unstoppable then and he's only gotten better. His skills were always brilliant, combined with the running he's added to his game over the past couple of years, he will be a star. We need to do whatever it takes to get this kid to the club. Not saying he's the answer to all our problems, but definately a few of them.
