Not sure what your game is pal, but you seem to be overly dismissive of anyone who thinks our Demons brand and Red and Blue logo are to be protected. Any time the issue arises your new moniker pops up putting the kibosh on those against it. You wouldnt by any chance have a stake in the new marketing, would you?

I thought he was supposed to be a bargain if he went that late. I recall he was touted as a 1st rounder. At last we are seeing some possible quality around our picks. I would hope we would punt on another tall Forward like Riley Dunn. Im still hurting from getting Jamie Shanahan at our number one when Shannon Grant who went at two said he wouldnt want to go to Melbourne. So we took Shanahan.

Maybe the Admen running the club would like to call us the Yarras. For those not old enough... When I was a kid in the sixties to be called a Yarra meant you were a soft dikhead.
-
That is hugely disappointing. Im sure the Bombers wouldnt give up their emblem so easily. I cant believe it isnt a marketing ploy to dis-associate MFC from the Demons. There will be a huge backlash I reckon if this soft idea is going ahead. Very worried about this.

I can give you the tip that for his 80 odd games he was more often than not in the best players with Chris Connelly, Robbie, Alan Johnson Peter Moore. He was core. But we really were shite during his time. FWIW Jack Dyer would always mention him in dispatches on WOS.

Which means he still could be (Vetoed)

I thought it was quite instructive that he told a tale from his early days at Freo that convinced him about ALWAYS taking the best player available in the draft. Dont worry about filling holes or worrying about players going home. Hmm. He was there when we recruited Luke Molan, maybe he was outvoted at the time.

CAC is about to talk to Dwayne and Tony on 3AW. May be worth a listen!

The load shifts a little off Simon Black, now that TJ is there. Black nearly won the Brownlow without much notice or recognition of an outstanding year. I think he may be a good bet next year. But J.Brown may very well pinch Lots of votes off both. It Maybe that the Lions could be having a good year.

Im happy with the trades but it seems to me that Dean Bailey believes we will be last or second last next year. If that is the case Im still supporting the Demons who must be rebuilding, and Bailey who is reported to make tough calls. It is silly to huff and puff at posters who can see where we are headed for a year or two. Plus Its OK to highlight players that CAN be core to a side that will win more than say eight games next year, but you have to look at who we may be better than: And most other also-ran teams look to be on the rise. Richmond Essendon Carlton Brisbane So if we arent making the eight, and it looks like we may be third last, would you want to be last and get next years Kreuzer? IMO I think most independent judges will have us 16th or 15th behind Essendon.

Nick Reiwoldt should be higher. Im a bit surprised Scott Thompson didnt make it.

I wouldnt mind finding out if Aaron Hamill is available. I dont know him but have heard him speak, He strikes me as a quality person and a leader. He always tried to get the utmost out of himself.

No she asks the personal questions. She tries to turn her columns into New Idea. I dont mind her on Radio, but she goes over the top in print much like Patrick Smith.

Do you mean that the exception proves the rule?

Is it just me or do Judd and Robbo sound EXACTLY the same?

Its just you -
There is plenty of whispers about a couple of MFC, carlton and Collingwood players. I havent heard anything about essendon. Maybe others have. I dont see why there wouldnt be a clean club. Just because our own backyard may be a bit whiffy doesnt mean all clubs have issues.

I believe he will ask WC to deal with either 2 or 3 clubs. I think that "lifestyle" will carry a larger weight than most other aspects. I think his overall choice will be based on theses factors. (1)He wants a club with no issues, whether it be nightlife or stabilty. (2)He wants a club that will have a crack at finals (3)He doesnt want to play Docklands too much. If lifestyle is his most important factor, i think essendon will shine out from the rest and will be nominated If finals are important he will nominate the woods, or possibly carlton! I hope we would count as well. MFC and Collingwood both play the G. If Bailey has intimated that any lifestyle issues will be traded out (which I reckon is the case), we will be included. I think the choices will include in order: Essendon, Collingwood and Melbourne. It then gets to the deal. I dont think WC will deal with Collingwood. I also think there maybe some big "Lifestyle' issues to come to light from Pieland. So it will be the Dons or us. If I was going to bet now, which I wont because Ive invested on us already, I would load up on Essendon. Mainly because the main reason he left West Coast was to go to a "clean" club. But if his groin stops him from playing telstra (and does that spell trouble?) or he doesnt want to drive across town to training(who knows?) we are home. Sheesh!

Its a stupid and childish stance to have anything against Mark Riley.

It would be seen as a good marketing ploy to add the demons to the the bigger clubs for a trade, if you looked at it as a purely business decision. You would then drop them off as the second place to the media. All spin. We will probably come last. But be shown as the "close runner up". 20%

I think it would make more sense if we were adding something to the Robbo deal. Bullies would want a big man. Jamar Miller or more likely PJ. They also may want Green. I do think however WC will want two first round picks. The higher the better...

A Doggies supporter just rang KB and said he heard 3 weeks ago from an insider at his club that Robbo is coming to the Dogs. For their first round pick and Ward(!) thrown in. He heard that Judd was going to MFC and that the Demons were dealing with the bullies to get judd. Pick 4, 1st round from WB and Ward. If only it was that easy.....
-
I have been hoping for two weeks that someone would open a book on who the next Essendon coach will be. I would put a bit of money on it being Thompson. My source has always been correct when talking Essendon. And he is sure as eggs are eggs.

Bob, Im reasonably comfortable that Simon wasnt up to it. Footy clubs have good reason to reward effort though. Without both Brown (your boy) and Godfrey our loss is effort but not skill. I dont see Godfrey as a waste of space if Wheels loses his spot to Bartam. If Junior struggles to get in the ones next year, which I reckon will be his last, who will get the stopper job? Buckley? Dunn ... maybe.
-
My take is that Bails has decided to put the players out on a limb and see how they handle the pressure. I cant say Im happy with Godfreys delisting, and think it puts extra pressure on Junior and Clint. Yes you arent going to win a premiership with him, but does anyone think we are in the 'window"? We dont have star midfielders and to win games or more likely scratch out wins, we need stoppers. His opponent this last year was not automatically in the oppositions best, which you cant say about Ward, Miller and oftentimes Brown and Bell. If you get rid of Godders, why wouldnt you delist Fergs? He's slow and fearless as well. We are not a team chock ablock full of gutsy warriors. And if you are going to compare "hardness" you dont go back thirty years. You may as well say Batman is not as tough as Superman. Hard is tough. I like the line I heard on SEN one day about a player being as tough as "old goats knees". Matthew Lappin is tough. Doggy Brown is tough. Junior is tough. Simon was tough, he should have got another year.

I have been watching to see if anyone else was annoyed about todays umpiring. It was a joke! I thought the umpires had been pretty good all year. To the point that I thought they were going against the mob. After watching the Swans get dudded by home-town Free kicks, I thought it was an anomaly and that they would be back to their best. They demoralized the Roos with their (to my eyes) obvious bias. By midway through the second quarter, when I believe the Roos were equal to the cats, it was the one-sided decisions that swung the game. The roos were beaten. I thought it was dis-graceful.
