Our form, even with 2 wins from our last 3 games, isnt good. We have certainly improved in the last few weeks, but have only gone from shocking to poor. Gotta be happy with this. In a season that has been an absolute tragedy for MFC, this is a genuine highlight. I really like how the club got his brother to tell him he is playing his first senior match. Even better for that fact his brother plays for another club. Family is everything, and this warms the heart. For once, well done MFC, well bloody done. No pressure Kyle, but i expect a rising star nomination this round.

What a bloody sad fact......... Even when we have been good(ish), you always knew any game could also be a loss. It has been the Melbourne way all my life. Yes, as long as we use a first round pick. We could get a player and downgrade to pick (say) 20 and that would still keep us within the rules. *Factoring in a couple of compo picks which may or may not happen. As long the pick is in the first round, the number doesn't matter.

We just need to have been in the ear of someone we need. Contracts dont mean much these days, so if a good player wants to come here, we at least have decent currency to play with (if we end up with 1,2 or 3). You have a good point, but i would prefer we roll the dice now, and not go draft again. Our time is (well, obviously not this year) NOW. 18 year old draftees wont be the difference imo. Free agent, AND a ready made trade. Thats our best bet i believe. (Obs we have to take a first round pick this year, so your idea probably wins unless we trade out someone decent)

Or we could get a free agent AND trade for a ready made. Kids with talent are great, but our window is (or at least appeared to be) now. Adding a talented 18 year-old to this list wont see us any closer to a premiership in the next year or 2. The time for us is now, which is why we went so hard for Lever and May.

Liked this post because i had typed up something similar, only to delete it a few mins ago. When we get 1, 2 or 3 i hope we have a trade target lined up to swap it for. We need more quality NOW, not in a few years. (ofc we also need quality in a few years, but right now is the more pressing need before our list starts its decline)

If the rest of the season is about preparing for next year, this is a crazy decision. Baker has shown signs of being a very good long term player, and we are crying out for speed. Hard to believe either of the Wagners are a better solution to giving this kid another run. You can only shake your head.
