Very important as 8th will be either essendon or Melbourne. Essendon play suns @ GC and freo @etihad.
-
40 point loss would get essendon back to 105%
-
Carlton managing to keep it close. Go blues...
-
Corws need to win by at least 30 to help Melbourne. Essendon will likely win their next 2 so might come down to % for 8th spot
-
Essendon will be fighting for the 8th spot. If we both only win 2 games then % matters.
-
Afl.com saying he trained with Casey last night. Won't play on Sunday

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 21
bandicoot replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will be sunny and 19. We will only get flogged if our mids get man-handled like GWS. saints mids are so far off from GWS quality that we will need a run of injuries on the day to get flogged -

T mac will stretch them up forward. No need to move him in defense -

O mac will take Bruce and hibberd takes membrey. Their remaining forwards are small. Pederson has been named HB. Not sure if he will start there. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 21

Our win over the Saints in round 1 came from: Gawns dominance in the ruck. 49 hit outs to Hickey 19. Hickey hasn't played for a few weeks and Gawn will be matched up against Longer. I don't believe Longer will be a match for Gawn Gawn then helped Oliver, Lewis, Jones and Vince to significantly win the clearances. Tyson didn't play and Viney had a quiet game. They wont be able to stop all 6 of them on Sunday This then allowed us to keep possession and didn't allow the saints to play their game. Reiwoldt had a field day kicking 4 goals. I don't believe he will have as much impact as he did in round 1. Saints are quicker than we are so if we give them space we will always be on the back foot. Clearances and contested possessions are critical for us winning. If Gawn brings his A game then the mids will feed off him and we should win. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 21

I wonder what the mids would say if you told them that Max wont be rucking. The reason we lost to North and Hawthorn earlier in the year was because we didn't have Gawn. Did you see his first half vs Port? He schooled Ryder in the ruck and against GWS was one of only a few players contributing. The team is significantly better with him in the ruck. -
He didn't lay 1 tackle against north. That essentially spells the end in a Goodwin side

Looking ahead ... the Path to September

It does seem like the players mentally has changed and we are now rudderless. Will take something extraordinary to change direction now -

Geelong? Do you see them losing the next 3 games? -
The only clubs that can win it are Adelaide, GWS, Geelong (selwood and danger playing) and Sydney.

Eagles can't win away let alone top of the ladder giants. No chance of them winning -

we technically can win 2 and make it on %. Fighting Essendon for 8th -
119 tackles is in the top 5 for a side in AFL history. GWS came to play and no one was going to get in their way
-
GWS are scary good. Imagine when they get their forward line back. They should be odds on favorite to win the premiership. We are a long way off from where they are. Will make me feel sick when they hold the cup up.

MAssive win for Sydney last night. Almost guarantees them a place in 5th or 6th and a home final. If Melbourne don't win 4 and only 2 or 3 then we are mostly likely to finish 7th or 8th and play our first final interstate against port or Sydney. not sure which I would rather play. -

Big out.. he is the highest ranked forward in the league over the past few weeks. No excuses now. We should win -
Lever has had 1 good year. Future AA and captain are all unknowns. No club has ever offered more than a 1st round and late pick for a player like lever.

We would beat Sydney at the scg. The small ground plays to our advantages
