  1. On the weekend we fielded the youngest and most inexperienced side in the comp. Average age of 23 years and 10 months with 62 games. Shows that there is massive upside and also that this year will be a bit of a roller coaster regarding performance.
  2. Totally agree.. He will dominate at VFL level and will get called in for the seniors round 5-6.
  3. I think Oliver is a lock for a forward role come round 1.... Has the size and strength. Just needs a good preseason to build his fitness
  4. Defensive work??? We are not planning for this guy to be a tagger. the best form of defense for this guy is attack. Sides will need to get 2 players on him in order to bring him down. Are you comparing him to Mckenzie because he is a red head? Mckenzie couldn't break tackles and is listed as 71kg. Clayton has 15 kg on Jordan and has just turned 18.
  5. Nearly every AFL aligned VFL side has 10-12 AFL players. That's a lot more than 2 at WAFL and SANFL
  6. Parish might turn out to be a gun however the football departments preference was for a bigger bodies mid
  7. I tend to agree... There are more AFL listed player running around in VFL than WAFL and SANFL combined
  8. That's exactly why we picked Oliver ahead of Parish. Roos wants a top 10 mid to play round 1 and match it with the best. i.e Brayshaw At 74 kg Parish will be bowled over next year
  9. Makes this even more impressive if he only had 60% game time with no pre season.
  10. He will likely start as a high half forward and have a few minutes per quarter in the midfiled. He can mark overhead and kick goals. That's a massive asset. Could be a Jake Stringer type
  11. He played for Richmond against Box Hill and had 6 kicks, 10 handballs, 5 marks and kicked a behind. That's amazing considering he didn't have a pre season, is 17 yo and has never played with that squad before. Against Williamstown he had 4 kicks, 9 handballs, 2 marks and 4 tackles. He was also named in Richmond's best for the day. How many TAC cup player could do that? What it shows is that he is good enough for VFL at 17 without a preseason.
  12. My concern with Parish was his size. This is the same concern that the recruiters had. If you don't weigh more than 80kg then you will get bowled over in the midfield. Top 10 Mids need to come into AFL and have an impact from day one. i.e Brayshaw. Oliver will stand in the centre square in round 1 and will match it with the best.
  13. Have a look at who the recruiters have picked up in the last couple of drafts. Our TOP 10 picks have all been over 183 cm and over 80 kgs. Brayshaw, Pettracca, Salem There is a pattern here and I cant see them breaking this. Roos wants big bodied tall mids and thats exactly what we will get. Parish is out of the picture.
  14. Fyfe is 190cm Parish is 180cm No comparison. I'm concerned that parish isn't big enough for today's midfield
  15. That is correct. Scully had/has poor skills by foot. Check out his game against SA in 2009. Parish's highlights show that he has above average foot skills.
  16. Parish seems very similar to Tom Scully.... http://afldraftinfo.blogspot.com.au/2009/10/tom-scully-dandenong-stingraysvic-metro.html I always thought that Tom was too skinny for a midfield roll. In his first few years he kept getting pushed off the ball and was unable to shrug tackles. This should be a red flag to the football department.
  17. Agree...
  18. Not a big fan of what I see in his highlight reel. I think he too small for the modern day midfielder. He will get pushed off the ball too easily. Same height and weight as scully who found it hard for the first 5 years to make his way through the middle. We need 185cm 83+ kgs players.
  19. Great pick up Dees. Pick 25 (30 after academy picks) is cheap for a 24 yo - 115 gamer. I think people are over rating draft picks. Not even the #1 pick is a certainty. Jake will be in our top dozen players every week and will push our fringe players. M Jones, Michie, Grimes, Newton etc He also has a little mongrel about him. Extra points for decking Jackson.
  20. Pick 25 over the last 5 years: 2010 - Patrick Karnezis 2011 - Seb Ross 2012 - Spencer White 2013 - Daniel Mcstay 2014 - Daniel Neilson All of the above are completely worthless. To make it worse this is also reported to be a weak draft. I'll take a afl proven 115 gamer, past top 10 pick that's played in a sinking ship any day of the week
  21. Lets hope Neeld is shown the door before Watts goes. Neeld is a cancer to this club and must be removed asap
