  1. Your guns??? They got wolliped by the bottom side. If we can tag dangerfield out of the game then I’m predicting we win by 10 goals.
  2. Cats players are injured... they will be hobbling into round 1
  3. Form through both games of preseason will be a good indicator as to where teams are at going into the season. Most teams will be fielding most of their fit players especially for the last game. results last year were a good indication of where teams eventually finished. I’d like to see the dees take saints to task and come into the season with convincing 2 wins.
  4. Narrative? They finished 7th last year and are expected to improve. No reason why they can’t finish top 4
  5. Underwhelming this pre season? 1 glorified training drill and a half paced JLT game. You are a hard judge. id rather rate him on his 26 disposals against the saints last year after a 4 month break
  6. Brayshaw? I’d say his is in our top 5 players. A sure starter as long as he is fit
  7. You must have lived in an alternate universe. Most games played during the 70’s and 80’s were glorified kick to kicks. No fluidity and constant stoppages.
  8. Bing181 summarizes ot well: At this level, no. But it's not designed for elite athletes, it's not even designed as a spectator sport, it's designed to give easy access to jo/joanne average who just want to try Aust. Rules football. As I mentioned earlier, I watch something similar to this all the time here in Europe, and you are NOT seeing players who can regularly and accurately hoof the ball 50 m. Scores in the game I watch are similar to/lower than regular footy, even though they play 4 x 20 minute quarters. I definitely think it will help to increase participation internationally. What place it has in Australia on a professional/serious level, difficult to say, and like most here, I wouldn't be queuing up to watch it.
  9. With this assessment you would have been happy to have an all Victorian league where players are part time and venues are sub standard. every successful organization continually improves and tries things to get better. if you don’t progress in today’s world then you go backwards and die out. Kudos to the AFL for having the guts to try new things
  10. I disagree. This will go down as the biggest change the game has had since the national league was created. Aflx address all the concerns the AFL have. 1. There aren’t enough ovals for local leagues to utilize 2. Local leagues are struggling to get enough players to play. 7-8 aside is easier to form 3. It will open the game to more pjayers who would have retired post 30. Both in local and professional leagues. 4. As the game is less physical it will open the game up to those that don’t want to get a battering every weekend 5. Parents would more likely get their kids to play this game than the full vgame version 6. If the game is ever going to get traction overseas then this version will be it. This is a master stroke from the AFL and shows why it’s the most successful sports operation in the country
  11. The triangle are in question is a massive space. It’s close to 5000 square meters. If a facility were to be built it will be at least 6-7 levels high plus a roof top area for entertaining. Even if you were to utilize 70% of the area it would still constitute 21000 square meters of commercial space. That would make it the largest operation in the afl. The only thing it wouldn’t have is an indoor gymnasium big enough to do football drills etc
  12. If the game has any future overseas then this is it
  13. If companies don’t continue innovating then they go out of business. The need for afl X is expansion to new markets i.e nsw and qld There aren’t enough ovals to play afl in these states. The alternative is a smaller rectangular ground. In addition is comes hand in hand with people shortened attention span.
  14. Why cant we speculate names? This is an internet forum which holds as much weight as a conversation at a pub. This isn't a news publication.
  15. What a balls up situation. Amateur hour at the MFC
  16. Why did the players have to go to the union to air their concerns? why couldn’t they approach management and coaches with their issues? why was the boot camp scheduled if the players didn’t find it useful? why was it only cancelled st thsaid last minute and not 9 months ago? too many unanswered question for my liking
  17. So the players are questioning the expertise of the coaching and medical staff? Tail wagging the dog
  18. This is an absolute joke. It shows a clear lack of communication and trust between the players and coaching staff. There would have been so much time and effort in arranging this camp only for it to be called off at the last minute. goodwin doesn’t have the buy in from the players. Serious alarm bells
  19. Essendon are coming off a 4 day break.... loss??? Our manic game style suits etihad.
  20. We get queens bday and Anzac eve both of which are much bigger than Friday night. Taking those into account we have 1 x Friday night game and 2 additional blockbuster games. No complaints from me
  21. The club could have negotiated harder on lever and pick 31 for watts is unders. No reason why we can’t expect the best from the recruiting staff...
  22. Super excited to see Tom up forward next year. He is a good mark, has real strength and strong endurance. I can see him top 5 goal kickers in the league. 50-60 in very achievable. A solid pre season with the forward coaches will see him improve even more
  23. He was even more impressed with $800k per year
