I posted this in April 2016. Last weekend we fielded the second youngest and inexperienced side in the comp. Average age 24.3 and 68 games. 17 of our starting 22 had played less than 100 games and more than 1/4 under 10. collingwood fielded a team with an average age of 27 and 120 games. These are the facts and a major reason why we are where we are.

We need to action what Collingwood and richmond did with their assistant coaches. Clear the decks and get new ideas into the club. Im still in shock that the season is over in April

Totally agree. Goodwin needs new ideas. His game plan has been exposed. Essentially all the experience he has had is at a rabble at Essendon and under roos who was more about culture than game style. This year is a write off. All we can hope for is a richmond style clean out

Maybe I should list the side that played 3 years ago for your comparison. It’s chalk and cheese. We are essentially 2 players off full strength

Dees are unbackable favorites at $1.3. Under Roos/Goody we have been strong against port. They have difficulty containing our contested style. We dominated them last year and narrowly lost at Port. Their top 6 contested possession winners from that game were wines, Polec, Rockcliff, Pittard, Jonas and Wingard of which 4 wont be playing. That same group also had 60 contested possessions. Who from port could possibly make up those number??? If we are on we will bury them.

Our game plan doesn’t allow has to change gears. It’s all or nothing. The plan is to win contested possession and for that you need to be at 100%. It’s a glaring issue with our style. The reason hawthorn are so good is that if they want to slow things down they play keepings off by foot. This tires the opposition at which point they turn it on for a 5-10 minute period.

Against tigers: 80 games, 24.5 age, 10 players under 50 and 3 over 150. premiership sides: Tigers 2017: 104 games, 25 age, 4 under 50, 8 over 150 crows R/U: 109 games, 26 years, 1 under 50, 7 over 150 The recipe to success is average over 100 games, 26 years, 3/4 of the team over 100 games. we had 6 players on the weekend over 100 games. Almost 10 short of what we need.

You can’t compare sports wagering and the pokies. The pokies are essentially programmed that you can’t beat the house. Sports wagering is a skill dependent on an ability to pick winners. The house just takes a % of the spread.
