  1. Couldn't have said it better myself Today was the last day for a long long time that I go to the football, both expecting and wanting to lose. We probably won't make the 8 next year but that won't mean we won't give it a shake and it won't mean there won't be 22 players and a full board of support staff throwing everything at it every week. From next year, we develop by winning.
  2. Thank God a thread that looks a little deeper at how a player has progressed, to see how much potential someone has and how much they have developed. When Melbourne is challenging for a premiership, Jones will be instrumental in how important people will think Scully and Trengove are to our success. I reckon Jonesy has been super this year, and has a lot of development left in him. Can't wait for next year
  3. Hopefully Grimes
  4. I like Valenti. Seems like a disciplined player happy to play his role. Has suffered from having too many 'like' players in Jones, McLean, Moloney all fit this year. I hope he gets a consistent run in the last 5 weeks. We could do worse tha having him on our list
  5. Sylvia needs to be rushed back in so he can have 'general soreness' for the Fremantle Game
  6. I love that EVERYONE is talking about our player. Melbourne supporters talk about Morton and Grimes. Jurrah will be the sort of player opposition supporters go to watch, just to see what he comes up with.
  7. I saw it as well and my first thought was 3 and I know it's not good for Col or the team but gee I was proud. Someone had to stand up for us
  8. I agree, and I've heard Connolly mention him very highly when discussing how good he expects our team in 3 years time to be. I believe he's very much in our plans. Never as the number 1 or even 3 forward, but I reckon once he's getting the number 3 on a regular basis, in a forward line that has some sense of stability and structure, he's going to be important
  9. Bate Watts Maric Wonna Martin Jurrah I understand bates flaws, however in a better team, I think he's very dangerous. I remember when he would routinely put balls laces out on Neitzs nose from long distance. I know how looks a little ungainly (He is a red head) The key for me is when Watts is ready to grab games by the gouli's Unitl thism we have to bear with Brad Miller
  10. Jurrah Floating to take the pack mark reminded me of Michael Jordan jumping from a long way out at a slam dunk. he just keeps floating vertically, almost defying gravity. Does anyone else see a bit of Joel Selwood of 2007 in Jack Grimes of 2009?
  11. I would be surprised if Davey and Syvia were playing next week. Davey might escape with a rep but he smacked him in the jaw. I saw the very end of Sylvia cleaning up whoever he hit, and as good as his last 6 weeks have been, I was absolutely wrapped that he was flying the flag. I know it's a fine line and he'll probably get suspended, but the game really required someone to put their hand up and say 'we're not going to be intimidated' and I thought sylvia was the one
  12. Steph Martin - The reason why we shouldn't be afraid to use picks 1 and 2 on elite midfielders Pick him there, play him there, keep him there, invest the rest of the season in him there PLEASE bails
  13. Umpire 15 was disgusting yesterday. A West Coast player was absolutely beating up on Ricky Petterd in the first quarter, Had him on the Ground, and was ramming his head into the turf repeatedly, and wouldn't allow Ricky to get up to move towards the contest. Should have ben a free kick for a) sheperding, B) high Contact, c) reported for wrestling / unduly rough conduct Umpire 15 ran in from 20 meters away until he was 1m away and just watched. No free kick, didn't even look like putting his whistle in his mouth, I was absolutely dumbfounded. I would suggest this is the umpire who has reported Ricky for telling him a whole host of home truths. I would love to see footage of it, with the umpire in screen and have Gieshen justify it. It was the worst advertisement possible for our game, considering you can bearly touch your oponent in a contest these days without risking driving mothers away from the sport. I watched 15 for the rest of the day and he didn't even look like paying a free kick our way
  14. Imagine how we will be when we actually start winning? I know 2 or 3 'supporters' whose balls I have been BUSTING to sign as members, and I know that as soon as we start looking promising again, they will sign up. We are renowned for coming out of the woodwork
  15. Hopefullt today is just a great big ugly aberation because on todays performance, we are a LONG long LOOOONG way away
  16. There were numerous times today that if our players had taken the first and best option, Jack would have had a bit more of it. Instead, we hesitate, stop, dodge, bounce, hesitate again and then handball to someones feet As someone else has already mentioned, the joint endeavour of all bar 2 or 3 players meant we were always going to get belted. Tough initiation, I can't wait til he puts on his other 10 KG of muscle so he can provide some of the leadership we craved today.

  18. Is Frawley playing forward?
  19. I voted the obvious Collingwood with little thought I would like to change to Carlton, and make the Margin a lot. No stress on the heart, just 3 hours of enjoyment watching us belt the living bejesus out of them. Oooooooh and Judd to only touch the ball twice, with Watts kicking 7.
  20. I dislike Hutchy enormously, but can't believe Richo didn't have the gumption to attack him on air if anything that Hutchy reported was fabricated or inaccurate which tells me he was pretty much spot on the money. Don't get me wrong, I love Richo, but if Hutchy's reporting was so offensive to the players, no better place to call him on it in front of 350,000 viewers An opportunity missed There is a link to Street talk on the same page as the link to the footage of Hutchy above. Probably the funniest street talk I've seen =)
  21. What do you know? For starters if you take seriously anyone offering Fev a 1 year deal, you need to get out more and relax. Secondly, fev going in his own direction?... Appears you are agreeing with me, though I can't be sure, considering you seem hell bent on looking for a fight this morning... wrong side of bed? Fev is a big influential leadership group member at Carlton. If you think Fevs attitude and output doesn't affect the younger players at Carlton, you've got your head planted somewhere not very nice. And no-one ever said they were as bad as Richmond. No-one has ever been as bad as Richmond; I'm not sure why you are reading this much into that comment. Simply the players are confused why they have 1 game plan for Richmond (back yourself and all out attack) and another for the bigger bodied sides like Sydney and Adelaide; totally defensive and Fevola ending up on a wing with no-one to kick to. And my source, the same person who told me Judd would be at Carlton next season 10 weeks before anyone in the media even suggested he was going to be leaving West Coast. So make of it whatever you like! Perhaps a stiff drink Rhino? Do you have to turn everything into an critical personal analsis?
  22. I couldn't understand why early on, we were playing Rivers on Buddy and Martin as the loose man in defence. In my opinion, Rivers is the best 'loose man in defence' we have ever had, and Martin has better size and speed to go with Buddy. I'm not the coash, but I thought we were really exposed by this decision early
  23. If you traded for Fevola you would only offer him a 1 year performance based contract. If you look at all the years where he's been really damaging, his contract has been up for renewal... what a chump Word out of Carlton at the moment is that the landscape is Richmondesque. Players aren't happy with Rattens multiple game plans and everyone isn't potentially running in the same direction. They are definetely going to have to buy some more players next year; Visy will be shopping
  24. I have it on pretty good authority that whilst the team went to Vegas for the end of season trip, Steph went straight to the Gym everyday in preparation for this season. Whoever said show him tapes of the great forwrds is on the money, because he would be bloody tough to match up on.
  25. God really, could that be Moloneys worst game of football ever?
