  1. We are on a mission in 2023, and I just know we won’t be leaving anything on the park tonight. Best of luck to our debutants, and those wearing red and blue for the first time. Dees by 4 goals.
  2. I love the building excitement of this week, and besides, we’ve got the Demonland Season Preview poddy tonight, and that just adds to the sense of anticipation. Go Demons!
  3. In my long lifetime, and after (perhaps) one too many glasses of Shiraz: 1. Robbie (RIP) - for those who didn’t see him play, you (sadly) missed something very, very special! He was pure magic on the field, and revered by all footy fans, regardless of their allegiances. Deserves a ‘stand alone’ chapter in the history books of our sport. It’s an absolute travesty that he didn’t win a Charlie! 2. RDB - inspirational player and leader of our great Club, in (perhaps) the most dominant era of any VFL / AFL team. Shared the title of ‘Mr Football’ with the great Ted Whitten. Say no more! 3. Clarrie - only part way through an outstanding career that we’ve all witnessed first hand. The envy of every other team in the AFL …….. the type of player who makes a good team great! No need to elaborate further, I’m sure! 4. Shwarta - There have been plenty of great CHFs in my time (Hart, Walls, Brereton & Carey to mention a few) but none of them could hold a candle to ‘the Ox’ pre multiple knee recos. He could have been anything! 5. Jimmy (RIP) - an icon of our Club and our game, based on where he came from, what he achieved on the field, and who he was off the field (RIP).
  4. I just want to hear all the good vibes from our esteemed panel. Without mentioning names, there will be no room for MFCSS on this poddy. 😀😃😄
  5. I’m sure I heard a magpie chortling in the background at times during the interview (true!). Several interpretations can be placed on this phenomenon, but lMO it was giving Collingwood the ‘bird’ for letting Brodie go.
  6. Loved the interview Andy. Great get, and perfect timing for our kick-off into season 2023. Go Dees!
  7. IIRC, when Weid (who was contacted at the time) sought to be traded out for more opportunities, we agreed to let him go, subject to getting a ‘like for like’ replacement. We recruited Schache as that replacement, and imo he adds more to our squad, and has more ‘senior level upside’, than Weid. Only time will tell, I guess.
  8. Those two would be Geelong and Brisbane …….. wishing and hoping, but not thinking! 😊
  9. Bugger you David. I was still trying to erase 1958 from my memory.
  10. Fantastic work as usual @Demonland and @binman. Thank you!
  11. …….. and aligned to Moe’s question, how does Brodie rate the ‘culture’ at Melbourne. No need to ask him how it compares with C’wood (I think we probably know the answer to that!) but I’d every interested to hear his views on our culture, and any insights as to how he was ‘inducted’ to the Melbourne ‘way’.
  12. Thanks @Demonland. Definitely for worse imo, but I am very ancient (verging on prehistoric).
  13. What a fantastic array of pre-season questions / discussion points. We are so lucky to have our Demonland pods! As a point of interest, does anyone know how many, and which other fan sites have them?
  14. As an ‘interstater’ I could only watch the game on TV. While there were some standout players (for me they were Tracc, Max, Maysie, Nibbler, Hunter and Bowser) the aspects that impressed me most were how well our boys seemed to be ’on the same page’; how ‘even’ we appeared across the field; and how fit we seemed to be compared to the Tigs. Are these reasonable observations(?) and if so, how well does it place us for what is a very tough draw in the early part of the season proper? IMO, with the draw we have, it would be a great indicator of how far we can go in 2023 (barring significant injuries), if we are 3 zip after 3 games.
  15. Thanks Luci. Nice ‘balanced’ assessment and summary.
  16. Let’s just build and refine what we saw in last week’s scratch match. The score doesn’t matter, but if we do these things, we’ll win anyway ……… and of course, no injuries.
  17. Exactly bin. Jackson even stated in an interview shortly after being recruited by Freo, that he had decided mid-season to ‘return home’ at season’s end.
  18. 'Training the house down' as usual! Great season opener. Thanks Andy & Bin!
  19. Thanks Bin. Just need to read this out at tonight's Podcast.
  20. PS. I’m also interested in the panel’s views on Kade Chandler as a small crumbing forward. I love Kade’s attack on the contest, and the defensive pressure that he brings, but I don’t see the ‘spark’ that separates the good crumbing forwards from the rest. IMO it’s important for us to have a 25+ a season small forward to fill this role, given the likelihood of us having a tall forward half, and Kozzie spending a fair portion of his time on ball.
  21. Based on reports from our track watchers, and vision of the Sim on Friday, Judd McVee has emerged from a ‘long way back’ as being a genuine prospect in the space of one pre season. (What a bonus that would be!). I’d be interested in the panel’s ‘gut feel’ on how readily his pre-season form might translate to the real thing (?); is he a genuine chance for R1(?); and do you see him becoming a regular best 23 during the season, and if so whose spot is vulnerable (?)
  22. I wonder how much we will be able to gauge from today’s hit out? I’ll be mostly looking for some hints and insights into tactical / game plan changes that we might take into the ‘23 season, and some clues as to the possible ‘pecking order’ where there seems to be strong competition for spots in our best 23.
  23. Thanks BBP. Great news if reliable. This would indicate that he’s been cleared of any significant structural damage.
  24. BBB presumably being ‘managed’. How are TMac and JVR looking?
