  1. I expect it to be tight, but I’m quietly confident that Daisy will be holding up the silverware at the end of the day. The ‘Demon Spirit’ will prevail.
  2. I had a similar experience a while back D4L. It seems that records of memberships in the 1960s, 70s and 80s were a shambles, and I was only credited with continuous membership from the time that record keeping improved. I'm quite proud of my unbroken years of membership, especially given our many years in the 'doldrums', so I wrote to the Club, and included copies of all the cards in my shoe box (like you, I suspect that some earlier cards were missing, but I was unable to verify this). Bottom line: I thought the Club handled it in a professional way, and I've experienced no subsequent hiccups. Hopefully it will be the same for you in future years!
  3. 100% Kev. I reckon that since we last played the Lions, we’ve improved by 20%. I have no ‘feel’ for any improvement by the Lions in that period, but I do know that we’ve really hit our straps. They are a very good team, but so are we! I’m quietly confident that our ‘Demon Spirit’, led by the strong willed players who you mention, will get us over the line. Gee, I hope so!
  4. I’m okay with the venue because Brisbane won the right to the ‘home ground advantage’ (albeit by a measly .1%), but I’ll be seriously angry if the shifting surface costs us because of an ‘in game’ or ‘long term’ injury. The AFL are taking a significant risk on this front, imo!
  5. So for the time being it’s LSW (Limping) CivilWar? Recover quickly!
  6. 100% agree, but what a ‘ripper’ in the last!
  7. The ‘Demon Spirit’ and a touch more class when we needed it, got us over the line in the end.
  8. Gee we made head work of that. Thanks to our defensive structures and defenders we held up well, and over-ran them in the end. Go Dees.
  9. North dominated that quarter. We are lucky to be in front. Kicking inside F50 haphazard. Need to lower eyes and hit up targets..
  10. North pressure lifted. Even second quarter.
  11. Positive start. Ball movement looking sharp.
  12. North have been playing well, but a level below our recent form..Really excited.
  13. Received mine today. The presentation is so professional, and to me, this demonstrates the genuine high regard with which we members are now held by our great Club. Well done to the current Board, CEO, Membership Department, and everyone else involved.
  14. …………………and / or TMac.
  15. I have loved footy and our beloved Dees for most of my long life, and I can honesty say that, outside of AFL premierships and a few other extremely memorable occasions, nothing has given me more joy than to watch the ‘growth’ of our AFLW players and game plan over the last seven years. it’s been phenomenal. A flag is almost within touching distance. I promise you, tears will be streaming if / when we can bring it home.
  16. ……. but we are Melbourne OD, climb on board and you’ll enjoy the ride! There’s red and blue in all of our our veins, or we wouldn’t be here. Soak it up! PS: from one old bugger to another!
  17. I’m loving this thread. Keep it going folks!
  18. Thanks Demonland for the best coverage of the match in the current (wilderness) part of the land where I’m temporarily residing. No TV, no access to AFL site presumably because of demand, no radio coverage because of the Cricket World Cup. Well done Demonland and all Demonlanders who contributed to my evening. And of course, thanks to our wonderful AFLW team, which appears to have made a remarkable comeback! Now it’s time for a Cognac.
  19. Not a joke as such, but a very clever back page headline from the HS (circa late 1950s iirc). It came after a very meritorious Melbourne victory over the Magpies: ” Today’s Magpies, Tomorrow’s Feather Dusters” I loved it way back then, and I still do!
