BB59 I think your attitude about draft picks is becoming quite common with the football public and I can't understand why.... Yarran was worth pick 6 last year but somehow his talents drops to pick 22 this year???? all draft picks are speculative but just because the guy has one year on an AFL list doesn't mean his talent has dropped that much or this years talent would be any better.... In fact Yarran would have gone higher last year because Watts wouldn't be eligible under this years rules.... The football public has been lead to believe (mainly by coaches giving hope) that draft picks and rebuilding is the way to go. You may get a superstar or you may get a dud through drafting but people are happy to throw established AFL players around for draft picks????

i really can't believe all these supportors over reactions to some of OUR players... you can't cut, trade delist every player...there needs to be some solid C/B grade footballers in each club... This guy is an AFL player who played some very good games even when we were near the top of the ladder in 2005/6(how quickly people forget).... gees the way people carry on you think we hadn't played finals or been off the bottom four in twenty five years and had no good players at all... not every AFL player will be a Jdd, Ablett etc

I would happily take him at Melbourne... teach the midfield how to kick to a leading fwd and give the club some much needed agression (no one game doesn't make aggression) his culture on the club wouldn't be a bad things and he is supposed to be a good trainer and works hard no off field incidents more issues on the field which I couldn't give a sh^t about it as its not like he is snorting a ounce up his nose every week. Plus imagine the media for Melbourne it would certain help that as well (even if he didn't hit anyone )

Why is it that any young player who plays well is annointed as a possible captain at Melbourne.... first it was Mclean, I've heard Watts and Grimes.... Let these players become good AFL players before we worry about them becoming Captain.... I know they all have leadership written all over them but most of these guys were captains of there U18 because they were dominate footballers not just because of leadership... Even the Captains of the state side are usually the best players who go early in the draft

Luke... great effort and thanks for organising this.... If the guys are out of pocket please let us know... I'll throw in some more if need be.... Wish I could be at the presentation but sadly I'm deployed overseas.... Its great to see this little demon community get things together and this is what a footy club is about.... The meeting up at the pub before a game occassion is great and the praccy matches played over the off season against other sites is great as well...

Finally some agression and hitting some players.... It lifts teams and thank god its colin (amongst others).... Keep it up Col now that you are over your injuries you could be anything

It would by his age as a player but I think it would assist the rebuild by helping the young players to learn to kick to a fwd. It will take Watts about two years to start to influence games consisently

You have to give Bailey his third year and it is amazing how a pre season or new players, some confidence can change a club (maybe not in our case) Geelong were ninth with the same players and have gone on and won 67 out of 69 (I know we are not at the stage but sometimes lists click) If buckley doesn't take a senior position then I think we move heaven and earth to get him as an assistant... we have to sack Josh Mahoney (spelling) as our fwd line structure sucks although it may because the deliver from the midfield sucks more

If Sydney cut Hall because of his discpline issues, I would take him in the PSD especially if we don't take a KP with pick two. He is marquee and would provide stories for the club... I don't care if it is about hitting people, its on the field not off it He would only be around for two years but would straighten up the team help the midfield learn to kick to a leading player, protect young players like watts. He won't be around for a premiership, I don't care for this blooding kids b%#@$%crap because if newton isn't going to make it no point a midfield not pushing fwd because they know it will just rebound (which is what I think is happening alot at the moment), a player like that would assist the club and he has a bad public image but inside the club I bet he is respected

Well done guys my $50 is in DN122978. Great idea to get the club involved and present it to a Mt Theo representative. Get Susie and Brett Japaljarri Badger down for the Richmond Game and present them the jumper and I'll part with a few more dollars to chip in for the airline ticket (although with all our business contacts at the club maybe someone can donate frequent flyer points). I really hope the jumper hangs in the club rooms of the teams so all future players can look at it and know they can achieve their dreams with some hard work. Well done demonland/logy and fork.... its amazing how an idea can grow

It means that the club will always survive because it now has the backing of the MCC... also means more sponser will get on board as they will be negioating with the MCC and have access to the MCC... Practically the football department may lose money because theMCC doesn't want to provide coin

I agree with the size thing but I remember after we lost the final in 06 to Freo that they come out and said we were too big and slow and had to slim down like Freo and get speed.... Jones dropped 7kg other players dropped size to get speed and then we get smashed.... Hopefully we have started to find a better mixture

Our side isn't that bad and alot has to do with injuries, even injury interupted pre seasons it can make a huge difference we could easily make the eight and have an up year this year... This why it could happen Rivers - if he stays fit our whole game change, I mean the whole structure of the team he is that sort of player.... The reading of the play and cutting off balls allows the defence to play with confidence meaning running off their man etc because they know others are going to cover for them. Sylvia.... If (cross fingers) can stay fit and not get another niggling injury watch out AFL... He will move into the middle where he belongs and will be alot like Riccuto Davey... He has been really ordinary the last two years but show glimpse which proves that he can things others can't Moloney and Brock.... how many matches did they miss imagine Brock playing 22 games you couldn't see many getting near him for the B&F Whelan... He is another that without injury changes the teams structure he is Melbourne Campbell Brown. These are only the injuries that could help us but other things Frawley getting a bit bigger and stronger, Wona cutting some weight, Jones having some support and Morton having another year in the gym. Thats not even including new draftees. Our defence is good Our midfield is reasonable Our Fowardline struggles But twelve months can be a long time in football and simple things like having a nice training ground that doesn't cause shin splints/sore spots can make a difference. It's possible that we don't do anything which will be fine by me because I happy to suffer one more year but I think we discount how bad our injuries have been in the last two years.

I totally agree with you... Guys how to you remember Todd Viney... he was the capt for two years at the end of his career when we could of given it to a younger Neitz, that and he was similar to JMac guts determination not all class and polish

I actually think this was the same sponser that rumours had Essendon taking off us.... The whole issue was our lack of FTA....

I agree its a great thing and not too worried that they are not counted but they are ticketed member because 10 kids can go to the footy. Are jnr memberships included in the total
