Hey Guys, Just wanted to brag I suppose.... went into the ballot to be the elite player sponsor for the draft picks and I received Tom Scully..... Maybe the function I can get him to attended will be the Forum footy matches

Although it is hard for Jordie the club did mention a couple of weeks ago that the are looking at next years draft as a right off and plan to recruit mainly from our rookie list

I know... the record at the stingrays was 10:10 until Scully did a 9:36 (maybe 9:26)..... thats a 5% increase on the best U18 to ever come through the club.... We are a lucky club this year

IF we are going best available with pick one in the PSD then he might be it... Bradshaw McPhee MacDonald Thorp but of course we change the best available to best suited to my arguement

I can't believe we are upset at Ball... who cares if he doesn't choose the MFC as his PREFERRED destination..... He is a good footballer and mostly likely going to get another 100 games out of him which is more than we can say for pick 18.... I personnally thing the MFC should pick him up and say hey you selected the draft (he won't sit out a season and with his attitude will be a great additional to the football club). Scully wouldn't want to come to the club neither would trengove but once their they wll be great and professional... We are cutting off our noses to spite our faces if we don't select ball as he is better than any kid over pick 15

Luke Ball can sit out the year of football if Melbourne draft him and he doesn't want to play (It would be interesting how the contract was arranged and if the dees would have to pay anything). If he nominated a 2yr contract for 500K a year (which is what is rumoured) then he would be on the list for two years if drafted by any club. Ball cannot refuse to sign a contract as when he enters the draft he can stat his terms and any club matching those terms and thus using a pick enters into a contract with Luke Ball... But if nominates a contract for one year and melbourne draft him he is still on our list... He would need to be traded, delisted (club or his choice) or PSD next season to get to Collingwood and do you think GC wouldn't nab him in one of there picks.... So by even sitting out a year he cannot get to collingwood unless everyone passes on him again next year (which they may but big chance they may not)... By putting himself in the draft he has opened himself up and I think the two suitors at this stage are port and melbourne.... I think Melbourne are talking up pick 11 to get port to use pick 8 or 9 (those believe a previous AA is not worth pick 8,9, 11, 16 or 18 are kidding themselves) as Port would use pick 16(its third pick) to beat Melbourne at pick 18...... I don't think Collingwood have any chance as two many clubs will have a crack and sitting out for a year would be merely a threat

Since we just delisted two contracted players maybe it is similar issues, injuries, can't get a game in the ones... maybe his attitude had something to do with it maybe Hawthorn can't see a spot for him in the fwd line and so what another draft choice....

If he was going to do that he would of traded pick 2 for pick 8 and 9 thus got scullt, butcher and another mid

He doesn't get drafted

As I see it he has shown no interest in MFC and has meet Collingwood???? but has he nominated for the draft or just delisted himself and has until the 18th to nominate for either draft... he may have been making the decision to leave the club now will interview all suitors as we may wish to get to collingwood but a few clubs might have other ideas and it would be best to meet with them (MFC not neccessarily being one of them)

Jarka, I think Melbourne have played it well by giving Ball a way out.... At the moment its St Kilda or Melbourne so he might stay at St Kilda.... if he thinks he may get somewhere else he may not think St Kilda is such a great idea then put himself on the market... then we can have a chat with him and convince him to come otherwise we can just take him

If anyone can bring down a video camera with the cord to play it at the Park hotel that would be great... Sadly I'm reduced to a still camera today....

Your wish is my command WJ... The drinking hole for after the game is The Park Hotel 191 Nicholson Street Abbotsford... I have spoken to the pub and we can use the big screen to reply the game as long as we have the right cords etc etc..... They have a good pub menu which I am getting emailed to me tonight and will post tomorrow (meals run to 9pm)... I'm trying to organize with the publican some drink specials and maybe a vouchers for the BOG etc etc... I'm trying the old line of if we get 30 people back there they knock a couple of dollars off the cost of a jug etc.etc.. If you plan to attend could you let me know on here so I can give them some numbers, they may have to put on another staff member...

Rollo, I don't think I'll be pulling on the boots as my back will explode (I'll bring my gear and hopefully jump on for ten minutes in the pocket ) Still looking to buy drinks for all the people watching and if we can get a BBQ I'll fire one up. The two pubs I'm looking at for the aftergame function are: The Fox hotel -351 Wellington PDe, Collingwood and The retreat Hotel - 226 Nicholson Street Abbotsford both pretty close to the ground anyone have any experience or preference??? I'll give them a call and with any luck they will have a TV we can use and I'll try and film the games... Once the pub is decided (If anyone knows a better venue which is close feel free to throw it out there) Rollo you should invite the other forums

The reason he can't leave the NT is because he is on parole... He was sentenced to a youth detention centre for a robbery on a service station (I think) but when he got out I believe his mum moved him from Darwin to Alice because of the group he was hanging around in Darwin... I think he went back to footy whilst in jail after leaving it (top jnr squads) when he was 16.... Not sure where he will go but wouldn't mind melbourne as I believe that if he has turned is life around then he deserves a second chance

Its not like they could of kept it a secret as he is relocating to GC next years so it had to be announced

Mate you have more chance of dominating than me as I'll struggle to get a quarter in before my back goes (although a week off work will be nice).... but even if you can't kick the ball we'll always help out our team mates.... saying that all games seem to be played in great spirit

Sounds Good Rollo.... doesn't bother where it is, just want to make sure we have a social side to the game this year as six to the pub was a bit more.... Hopefully we can get cuddles to come down to chat to the faithful so everyone will want to come to the afterparty and celabrate us beating collingwood and carlton

Pringle, Bring your younger cousin and he can have a run.... he'll be fine if someone wants to be silly there is a few of use that play football (Charlesy and Heater) who will remind them that it is a social game and we aren't playing for cattle stations.... When we can confirm a venue we'll set a pub for the after game function.... I'm emailing cuddles and hopefully we have an MFC personality down at the games or at the function afterwards (maybe discuss our draft strateg)y.... This is a great opportunity for us to pull on the famous red and blue and have a kick. I highly recommend everyone coming down and making it a bit of a social day as well... Wolfmother

They can't be signed against the players will.... Essential if a player is out of contract and agrees to move to the gold coast then they don't have to trade with a club they can just sign them and the AFL decided what they are worth

Anyone know what the current rumour is about Fev.... which was the reason he was moved on.... SEN won't discuss it YET but usually they are true and probably really damaging

IF both players can't get traded and nominated for the PSD (highly doubtful, but a bit of fun) who would we pick. Burgoyne for me, as I think we have enough inside mids but it is tough as Ball would be around in five years

Looks like the 8th will be a go but I'll leave it to Rollo to confirm..... Want it to be big this year, so will organise a function afterwards at one of the local pubs and maybe a BBQ for the ground... Hope to get a few down to help out even if you don't want to throw on the boots
