An Adelaide contact of mine who's a Port Adelaide supporter is a big wrap for Petty who he thinks will end up as good if not better than Jacob Weitering of Carlton.
He's not a fan of the Crows who he says doesn't do enough for players recruited from interstate and that's the main reason why they struggle to keep them in the state.

Didn't they say last week Filipovic would be out for 2 weeks?
They said Balic was out for 2 as well but it looks like he's back for this week.
Filipovic missed a game and then missed another week for the bye. That's 2 weeks.

Can't stand the bloke, what he did; but Aussies do appreciate stuff. He needs some acknowledgement.
Yes. I think it’s pathetic for people to take any joy out of injuries to sportspeople and that applies to Tom Scully.
However, I don’t have a problem with GWS having to part with $1m for a player who might not play many games this year.

Mykelti Lefau seems to be going well - any chance that he could be rookied as a Category B as an international player (born in NZ, I believe).

I hate to wish injury upon any player...
But I really hope Dangerfield has an injury.
Hush your mouth. How could you possibly wish injury on any footballer. It’s not sportsmanship!

I want to tell a story from yesterday.
I was watching the game with my old man and sister, sitting behind us was this young woman who was annoying me all game, mouthing off and being a pain.
When Keilty got injured at the start of the 3rd quarter, and was lying on the ground before being helped up by the medical staff, we were obviously pretty concerned. All of a sudden I hear this young girl behind me say "oh look he's just faking it". I turned around and stared at her and said "what did you just f***ing say?" before my sister (who hadn't heard what she said) intervened and calmed me down.
Man I was so angry, I wanted to kill her.
Just needed to get that off my chest.
I thought that the mean spirited streak that used to run through Port fans was dying out now that the area has become gentrified. Don’t worry about it; the Collingwood fans you’re going to come up against will be much worse?

In the third quarter we kicked long bombs into a crowded forward line and, with Hogan playing downfield and TMac not there, the result was inevitable.
Plus the fact that the Saints were very good on the rebound when they got the ball out and the result was 6 goals to 1.

That’s about 10k per possession for Mayne, isn’t it?
Not bad if you can get it.

That crowd is absolutely pathetic. More people turned up to the women's game in 37 degree heat yesterday in Alice Springs.

I find AFLX so meaningless* that I spent the whole of WJs report wondering why 1964 was a prime number. I then observed multiple references to prime numbers that are not actually prime numbers littered through his story. And like AFLX, I'm still none the wiser.
(*I think it's meaningless in the context of the AFL season. However, I think it's possibly a very good idea for taking the game international, including north of the Murray).
I went to the play Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and they gave away prizes for particular seats that were supposedly prime numbered but they weren't. I think it's part of a gag or something.

It was hard to work out many of the players.
It wasn't so much an intraclub game as match simulations in which one team had white tops and no numbers. You could recognise some of the players but the Casey boys were only recognisable by their lower skillsets.

Great to see so many curses bite the dust and how good was The Melk?

Jeff Kennett runs the Hawks who play in Northern Tassie. Is it a coincidence or is he reviving his economic rationalist ideology on the Hawks’ fiefdom up there?

There’s no update on the MFC website training dates page.
Not sure whether training is on or not.

Is there training tomorrow?

I think the final round of 2017 fitted in brilliantly with the era of #fistedforever.

Maynard's one game for the club was impressive enough and in hindsight, he probably should not have been dropped. His performance in that VFL final for Casey against Richmond was a standout and if he can match the strength and resilience he showed that day, he'll be a regular in the AFL next year.

Matt Balmer of AFL Draft Central has done us Demon fans a favour with his Final AFL Draft Power Rankings Part 1.
The reason for that is he’s running down from 50 to 1 with this first lot therefore covering players ranked 26 to 50 which covers the range of all four MFC draft selections in 2017.
I will link the less important ? power rankings when they come out next week.
On the other hand, if we end up picking some players from the 1 to 25 list that comes out next week then could that not mean that we've done well in the draft?

Because Richmond were given a second round compensation pick by the AFL based on salary and contract duration.
For someone who couldn't get a game on a regular basis at the Toiyges in his final year with them......
Sounds about right then. We got a second round pick for Jack Watts and Geelong got a late first rounder for Motlop. The system suddenly starts making sense.

Jack Petruccelle DOB: 12-Apr-1999 185.1cm, 77.7kg Northern Knights
“Jack came into the system mid-way through last year and put the basketball stuff on hold. He’s the quickest player in the TAC Cup and whether it’s in the air or on the ground he just does things that others can’t. We were impressed with his ability to chase and tackle - he tackles to hurt - and he puts his head over the ball. He’s been working extremely hard on his kicking - he’s OK when he’s on the run or from a set shot, but he can miss the short ones when he pokes at them. He’ll improve enormously in an AFL competition.” - Northern Knights talent manager Rhy Gieschen.
Brings back memories of that tv show Petrocelli about a big shot lawyer who practiced in a small town in the USA. I'm sure Petruccelle the footballer isn't as bland.
After losing Trengove and Watts we really do need some Jacks up our sleeve.

How about this bloke - Who wants a ready-made 204cm, 112kg ruck?
