    Only 31 missing.....

I'm beginning to think that 31 needs to be rested for a long while. Since Barassi left, the number seems to have been jinxed with most wearers never achieving their full potential or lasting as long as might have been expected. I suppose that Paul Wheatley might be considered as the exception to the rule in a way but some might argue that even he didn't live up to the promise he showed at the very early stages of his career.

Cheers again for all the training reports. I am sure I speak for most Dees fans living outside of Victoria, it is much appreciated.

You can also speak for most Dees fans living inside of Victoria who for whatever reason can't make it down to training.

Thanks also to the mods for getting rid of the nitpickers who used to derail these threads by picking arguments at the drop of a hat and generally playing the fool.

Training threads are much more readable these days.

    they would sue themselves? priceless

The threats worked. All has gone quiet. The AFL has issued its final draft order and GWS will in all likelihood, not lose any draft picks. The AFL has swung another wet lettuce in the direction of the Giants who will draft and pay the Ferryman Perryman.

The way I understand it is -

Say North Melbourne bids 11th pick on Collingwood.s father son pick Callum Brown.  Pick 11 is worth 1329 points so collingwood have to come up with those points.

So they use pick 28  @ 667, Pick44 #362, Pick51 @ 259 and pick 62 @ 123 to match the points.  Once you get past pick 60 the points are not worth much.

    On that pick alone our 47 becomes 46 , 69 becomes 66 and 84 becomes 81.

If there are another say 5 similar bids on players, I think we could be closer to 40.50 and 70.

That works if North bid for him with pick 11 and Collingwood matches that bid.

However, it's unlikely that Brown would attract a bid that high. More likely it would be around the mid 20's and the cost in points to Collingwood would not be anywhere near that high.

Downie from GWS will be delisted, he's the best we could probably do.

The word is that Downie and a few others will be delisted before the end of the month deadline in order to allow for GWS to keep all of its selections for academy bidding.

However, in order for us to pick up a DFA, we have to make room on our list for another selection because we only have three spots available.

Any chance you might want to nominate which contracted player we would be paying out to create space?

  6. I read an article saying Richmond should expect a much more favourable fixture in 2017 because of where they finished in 2016. That might be fair enough but from my memory, they received a very good one this year and it didn't help.

  8. Good luck to him even though I can't figure out why a bucketful of extra $ was more important to him than playing for the football club he was weaned upon as a child and that his family loves. Makes no sense at all.
