Will be nice to see our two best rucks go at it today.

Did Neeld give away Stef to get Clark because Stef was often late to training?

Poor attitude by Stef. Contrast with the professionalism of Clark.

    More Neeld revisionism.

Clark played his first game for the MFC in 2012 while Stef was still at the club. He left at the end of that year so Neeld could not possibly have given Stef away to get Clark.

Yet another episode in the book of fictions about Mark Neeld. It won't be long before people start claiming he was the mastermind behind 9/11.

You're entitled to your opinion WJ. It's certainly not mine.

Whether you're a thief, a drunk or any other transgressor the first and most important step to retribution is to own up to what you've done andapologise to all and sundry.

What has Essendon done. Almost the complete opposite. They still protest they've been hard done by as though they are the victims. Really !!

At any opportunity they've sought to stall legitimate processes. And still they do.

They shouldn't even be playing this year.

That's what OUGHT to be happening.

It's perfectly RATIONAL to expect justice.

WJ you of all should expect that. Without rules and penalties you have anarchy.

What we have here is the AFL playing godfather. It's protecting its worst offender.

What further punishment do you recommend?

Being born in 1982 I never got to see him play but I always imagined Michael Voss to be the closest approximation to RDB. Is there any other modern player you might compare him to?

As WJ wrote, blokes like RDB won't come again ... but we have a combination of youngsters like Jack Viney, Jesse Hogan, Clayton Oliver, Angus Brayshaw and, ahem ... Christian Petracca who together might revive that spirit at this club.

  4. I still think it was Howe's management that gave him a bum steer, spending most of last year manoevring for a better contract price than what he was worth. I think in the end he's on about what we offered and now finds himself at a club in turmoil.

    And we have Ben Kennedy.

With Reiwoldt ang Montagna out I reckon it might be no change. The "stability" mantra.

Petracca may have to wait as it was our best performance in years.

Let him bag 6 or 7 at Casey first.

    If it ain't broke.

Agree with that. Being in Casey's best players three weeks in a row isn't enough. He has to conquer suburbia first before making it to the bright lights of Broadway.

On the other hand, I reckon one of Rooey and Joey will play next week if not both.

I used to go to most training sessions, never remember Dank being there, and I knew most of the backroom staff

Dank has changed his story so many times, I am astounded that ASADA take him seriously, I thought he refused to say anything to them originally?

Sam Newman (who I normally don't listen to, I put the TV on mute) summed it up the best on the Footy Show

I know Dank was hawking his wares around the clubs, mainly on the strength of what Robinson was supposedly doing to the fitness at the Bombers

Among his many talents, Dank can now claim to be the invisible man. Turned up to every training session for four months and nobody ever saw him, never got paid and the bloke who was supposed to have given him the gig knows nothing about it. On top of that, his credibility has been found by judges to be in question.

And we still have muppets around here giving him the time of day.

    Go figure?

Good heavens Pickett do you have no respect for the recently departed? Our good Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward (née Anderson) passed away just last week. Yes we were adversaries at times but we also had a certain rapport, things could have been different but there just too many strings to untangle to make things work! I have been in mourning since I heard the news.

The mere thought of the Uncle drooling over Mi Lady makes me sick to my stomach. And I suspect DC has similar urges as well! Do any of you have one iota of moral decency?

While I am at it is anyone interested in purchasing a pink roller with a few miles on the clock?

    Pamela Anderson's mother died?

Don't understand the fascination with guessing at who will be the next version of a player totally irrelevant to us.

We have the first Jack Viney, the first Jesse Hogan, the first Angus Brayshaw... Why do we need the "next" anyone?

Because it's not about the next 176cm midfielder who averages 30 possessions but rather, about the next unheralded player who lifts his game to new heights.

On that basis, it might be Max King.

That's not what I heard WJ, both Craig and Neeld were all for Toumpas, recruiters were leaning more towards Wines and putting up smokescreen so they could land him, they knew Port were hot for Wines, Viney was no fan of Neeld

Ever considered that you probably "heard" wrong. Toumpas was considered by the pundits as next best behind Whitfield. Wines was thought to be outside the top five and that's exactly where he was picked.

Todd Viney was one of the recruiting team who vindicated the selection of Toump on that basis and the club was said to be delighted on the day with their selection. The stories that circulated otherwise began when Wines made such an impressive start to his career while Jimmy's start was hampered by his hip surgery.

CAS verdict Tuesday morning, according to afl.com - hope everyone at bomberland wear their brown  trousers Tuesday! Can't wait to see the reactions from the Bomber faithful and the sycophants in the media - Slobbo , I'm looking at you!!!!

Surely, Foxtel must put on a special edition of AFL360 for the final verdict?

Well FWIW, this is what Proper Gander said about him in Bigfooty:-

"Looks pretty good - like a big white work-in-progress. He's done something weird with the hair though, No 1 back and sides, throwing his ears into prominence, then the ginger top longer and sprouting in a 360. It's an interesting look that is all his own - he kind of resembles a live volcano that has sparked up on an alpine mountain.

Bits and pieces of his play look promising though. He works well and matches up in drills, and his kicking is decent and can travel pretty well. He even snuck in a couple of bounces running for goal which look a million times less terrifying than those included in his highlights package."

I hope he's not as self-conscious about the carrot top as Matty Bate. Anyone remember when he dyed his hair brown?

  12. I was looking recently at the list of newcomers the club has taken on board for the coming season and noted that Melbourne has nine players (including two rookies) who have yet to play any games of AFL:-

Liam Hulett, Jayden Hunt, Max King, Mitch King, Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Joel Smith (r), Josh Wagner and Sam Weideman

In addition Tomas Bugg, Ben Kennedy and Jake Melksham have AFL experience but not with the Demons.

There's no race involved here but I've always considered that Petracca would be the first of the list players to break through for a debut AFL game but, based on reports I've heard and read from training, it wouldn't surprise if Clayton Oliver gave him a run for his money.

    Anyone else feel the same?
  13. I have been to a few of his games this year and his defensive work rate is fine, at TAC cup level it's quite raw, defensive work rate becomes alot more obvious when it is implemented into a structure and role within an AFL side, really at TAC cup level he just wants to stand out as much as possible, but he's more than capable of running both ways and doing those things.

The beauty of the way things are being done under Roos is that unless he shows in the preseason that he has ironed out the weaknesses that you perceive he has, Parish won't be under pressure to perform at the highest level immediately (unlike Toumpas who was probably brought in too early because we had few viable options). Roos and McCartney will make sure that he's ready when the time comes and not necessarily in round 1 of his first season.

  14. Terlich has never had a 3year contract.

He had his initial two year contract for 2012/13 where he came 3rd in the Bluey in 2012 and played 14 games in 2013. Then received a two year contract for 2014/15 at the end of 2013.

I agree he should have only got a one year extension, but the constant talk of him ever receiving 3 years is simply misinformed.

So how come he's contracted for next year?

  15. The 18-year-old averaged 28 disposals a game at TAC Cup level (16 contested and 12 uncontested), plus seven clearances and five inside-50 entries.

Main thing i took out of that article.

I remember reading something about Steele Sidebottoms combine, check it out if you can find it, but his results were pathetic, but he can play that guy

Sidebottom had a teammate at TAC Cup level who tested even worse. Slow as the proverbial and didn't get drafted in the ND. Tom Rockliff went in PSD.

  16. So out of that deal, We would receive picks 29, 26, 46 and Ben Kennedy?

    Giving up Howe and Toump

Sounds good - you then send all three picks to GWS for pick 8 and Tom Bugg.

Win/win for all because the three picks are worth more than 8 under the bidding system.
