I know some people argue about picking on best talent vs best option.
If we're looking option wise, what type of player do we target with our first pick?
We desperately need a tall young ruckman (202-5 cm tall) to develop over the last few years of Maxy’s career while he can still learn from the greatest ruckman of the modern era.

A couple of reports in the media.

Young gun faces anxious wait as Demons dealt double training blow — Track Watch
Seems like they're covering a lot of the same territory.

anyway, our draft targets at the end of 2025 are clearly kalani white and toby sinnema; ah-mu who?
And therein lies the problem. If we are targeting Kalani White who is a 200cm plus tall, is there any value in investing in a 198cm tall who is also going to cost heavily in terms of draft points?

I doubt it’s that reason.
SEN interviewed Jace Burgoyne from Port and he indicated that training for the indigenous team would occur next week.
I think they’re just easing his load a little as he’s missing (yet again) the first 3 games and the team needs to put in structures and strategies without him.
Wait till Tom Morris get a hold of this!

The VFL list changes (January edition) as published on the official Smithy's VFL site:

TO BE CONFIRMED: Jack Behnk, Max Coughlin, Jesse Craven, Tyler Edwards, Tom Freeman, Andrew Green, Max Gregory, Eddie King, Charlie Muley, Harvey Neocleous, Charlie Peters, Kobe Shipp, Noah Yze
Wow. That's what I call a cleanout. A lot of last year's regular Casey listed players out or undecided and one or two names not yet confirmed. Paul Amy who reports regularly on the VFL has reported that a few players not on the list have also signed on for 2025 including Noah Yze, still to be confirmed. Definitely will be a tough gig for Casey boys to get games this season.

She also said that IHO (H = Her) Spargo isn’t improving at the rate they’ll have us believe. She’s thinking long term injury list for him and Roy George is ours.
Does anyone know how to determine if a player is eligible to be placed on the long term injury list?
I know of a player in a suburban competition who had surgery on his Achilles late last year and was told he could be out of sport for 12 months so being over 30 years old, he decided to retire.
Charlie’s surgery happened in July last year. If he was also looking at a 12 month return date, would that be sufficient for him to be put on the LTI?

Thanks the zero hanger definition is a touch ambiguous as they left out 'at the start of the season'.
Players are required to be under 21 years of age as of January 1, 2025 and must have played no more than 10 career games at the start of the season to be eligible for the Rising Star.
On that basis, he’s clearly eligible and IMO is a definite chance for the Rising Star in 2025.

Ned Moodie to frankston
On that basis, I put a line through him. On what I saw of him in 2024 I thought he was handy at times but given the extent of the club's recruiting to date, I think the move to the Dolphins is probably a good move because it will give him more opportunities.
If anyone else has any info on the comings and goings at Casey, please post in this thread.

By my reckoning, these are the players contending for places on the Casey Demons list. New or returning players from past years in bold.
Riley Baldi, Jack Behnk, Riley Bonner, Paddy Cross, Jai Culley, Chance Doultree, Tyler Edwards, Tom Freeman, Roy George, Andrew Green, Max Gregory, Mitch Hardie, Patrick Ireland, Eddie King, Mitch Kirkwood-Smith, Brayden Laplanche, Caleb Lewis, Harvey Neocleous, Charlie Peters,Ned Moodie, Tom Sheridan, Kobe Shipp, Deakyn Smith, Tyson Sruk, Kai Windsor, Noah Yze

It appears that the proposed relocation of the Caulfield Racecourse as a home base was nothing more than a performative exercise orchestrated by the board and CEO. The project seemingly lacked genuine intent, yet the club expended significant time and financial resources on a feasibility study and concept drawings. Was there any consultation with the Caulfield Racecourse Board, particularly given reports that the Mount Scopus agreement has been under negotiation since late 2023.
If the club were genuinely committed to securing a new home base, it is conceivable that any well-informed board member could have foreseen the impracticality of this concept at minimal cost.
The pertinent question, therefore, is whether the former CEO or President breached their fiduciary duties, thereby causing measurable harm to the football club. This matter may warrant closer scrutiny in light of potential continued governance failures.
Yes - by all means, let's carry out a full and transparent investigation and if it's discovered that what you have written above is complete and utter bulltish, you will make a public apology in front of the members on the opening game of the season.

Jail Culley would be a fantastic get for Casey.
Watching their games this year, the biggest whole we had on field was midfield depth.
Not only was losing Jordon, Dunstan and Harmes a significant hit for Casey midfield depth, but I felt the loss of James Munro was a bigger one.
We got Campbell Hustwaite as a replacement but he lasted 5 minutes until injury.
Culley would add a bigger mature body in the midfield and take the load off our young players. I am hoping Riley Bonner also signs with Casey just to add some further experience.
I wonder if Riley Bonner is still on the table for Casey?
As @george_on_the_outer mentioned, the club is subject to the limitations of a salary cap. There must be a limit to the number of high quality ex AFL players a club can recruit.

Turns out that AFL page is out of date. NGA count as Cat B too
In Mentha’s case, he counts as a Cat B because he was an NGA player who nominated for the National Draft but was not drafted in the main draft. Tyntynder is not in any district associated with Melbourne, so how can he be rookied as a Category B?
NON-MFC: Round 13

No, you can’t lay on the ball and make no attempt to dispose of the pill.
