More about that closed loophole
The Swans found a sneaky draft loophole last year. The AFL just closed it

Close thread, he's not interested in coming, this all makes me sick.
Nah ... keep open until the PSD.
I was surprised that Martin nominated $1m and a 5 year contract, albeit averaging $600kpa over the full term which suggests that these terms are acceptable to Carlton. They’re placing a lot of store on their ability to turn him into a consistently good performer across what will virtually be the remainder of his career.
So far, it’s been very unremarkable for someone who selected first in the 2012 special Mini Draft and was considered the best young player in the country at the time.

Are you sure that would be better than 3, 10 and 22?
This would clearly be better for us than 3, 8 & 97 even if the later pick becomes 75 by the end of the draft.
Would 7, 8 & 10 also not be better?

I think Freo might do it if it guaranteed them another choice on top of Henry.

I’m staggered that Cornes has a gig in the media.

Probably off to Vegas to get rid of the lingering Hangover from the 2018 season.
Not to mention the 2019 season.

We can still sign more rookies if we wish I'm pretty sure, so we don't need to upgrade a rookie to add another one.
That’s correct and it would mean going with a primary list of 39 plus 5 rookies. Much the same effect and depends to some extent on where we stand in terms of the salary cap.

Bennell would be rookie listed in my scenario above
The only issue there is that we currently have four rookies listed so that, if we took Bennell as a rookie it would have to be at the expense of a senior pick. That is, senior list = 39 + rookie list = 5.

I wonder if it’s possible to trade our picks 97 and 115 for GWS pick 60 and our agreement not to pick Tom Green at 3?
This would enable GWS to do a trade with Adelaide involving a trade of picks 4 and 6 and give us a better third pick down the line for what amounts to no cost.

An extremely overrated footballer. Couldn't kick, incredibly slow and undisciplined.
He left not long after and chased the coin to Collingwood.
I think he finished second behind Peter Moore for the 1984 Brownlow, played in a couple of premiership teams and captained the Tigers.
While he often came across as being up himself, it’s hard on his record to say he was overrated.

Agree - only a basket case would agree to the deal suggested by Ralph.

The first week of trade window is effectively over. There have been 6 player movements:
FA: Ellis, Tomlinson, Ellis-Yeoman, Birchall,
Trades: Frost, Langdon.
Our club enhances its reputation to gets deals done!
As an aside, only 2 trades for a week shows they should shorten the trade period.
Erm ... you might have missed the trade involving Tim Kelly?

Hoping for one more snag, maybe Yokozuna’s mail comes to fruition about an exciting forward prospect.
Interestingly, a few player managers were interviewed on radio leading up to trade week and they predicted this trade period could see a record number of players switching clubs. Unless they extend it until March can’t see this happening so far.
It’s quite possible we’ll see large numbers of players changing clubs but that might happen through delisted free agent pick ups rather than via trades.
We’re seeing clubs placing too high a value on some players up for trade and hence there are often no takers as other clubs take the view that they simply have to wait for players to be delisted before they strike. We will possibly get someone like Sam Murray that way and might also find that JKH and/or Stretch are let go if they can’t be traded.-

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)

It seems to me that Green is certainly worthy of nominating at #3. The failure to do so would come as a surprise to me - why are we being such nice guys?
