  1. There's a major problem with this article from the Cranbourne Leader - Geelong bags last four goals in big VFL win over Casey Scorpions The staff writer probably left early because the last two goals of the game were actually kicked by Casey players - Jack Fitzpatrick and Christian Salem.
  2. Official injury list for round five Max Gawn (hamstring) – test Jesse Hogan (back) – 4 weeks Viv Michie (jaw) – 3-5 weeks Luke Tapscott (hamstring) – test Dean Terlich (groin) – test Jack Trengove (foot) – season A door closes for Jack Trengove and another opens for Neville Jetta
  3. Rotten luck and I wonder how long he's been carrying the injury. At least with diagnosis and treatment comes the hope of rehabilitation and a return to full fitness and form in 2015. Good luck Jack!
  4. Spoke too soon. Damn it.
  5. However, as Redleg the lawyer will tell you, there's a three year limitation period and on 8 July 2014 the time runs out and we will be able to discuss the person and his grossly overweight and overpaid father to our hearts' contents.Additionally, as from that date, posters will also be able to talk BS which they have refrained from hitherto for almost 3 years.
  6. Not to mention an old man who gets paid as well and is said to have a healthy appetite at club functions.
  7. Agreed. Big Carl's debut game was sensational - he was actually 3" taller than Wise who was 6'2" and a lion hearted ruckman who couldn't counter the enthusiasm and bounce of Ditterich. I played for his junior club East Brighton (he was a few years older than me) and was a revelation lifting the Saints from mediocrity to a top four club in the blink of an eye (helped by a couple of handy players from Tassie in Darrel Baldock who joined the Saints in 1962 and Ian Stewart who also debuted in round 1 of 1963).
  8. Dank is now going on the pub circuit with his next appearance due in Ballarat - Dank set to speak, but not to ASADA Of course, he would put everyone out of their misery if he went public with information about what he gave the Essendon players during the supplements programme or gave it to the Bombers (who own the information) so that they can pass it on to ASADA. I suppose he needs the pocket money he'll be getting for appearance.
  9. Unless another long term injury opportunity opens up Nev can't play until round 12 when we will automatically be able to elevate another rookie.
  10. I thought we gave them a good run for their money that day with the main factor being the blanketing of Junior Ablett by a combination of Col Garland and Jordie McKenzie. The team we put on the park this week should be much better but we can't allow Ablett to weave his magic the way he did when we played them earlier in the season last year at the G.
  11. Whatever, I'm glad we didn't fork out $400k pa for Warnock all those years ago. How do Carlton look now? They had a glut of ruckmen and let Jacobs and Hampson (along with Megan Gale) go and are left with him and Cameron Wood.
  12. The post above which sounds as if it came off the MFC site sums Reily up as well as I could. My caveat is that we won't know until he plays at the higher level whether he can replicate what he's done up there with the big boys. I've seen plenty of players burning it up at VFL standard who we expect a lot from but who can't make the grade when the pressure's much greater and the opposition's a lot better.
  13. ... and notice the number of tackles effected by Reilly I think there's always a place for a tackling machine at a team that was once described as "bruise-free". Jack Viney and Jordie McKenzie and Reily will change the landscape in this area if the latter can also get enough of the ball at the higher level.

  15. I've put up my report BLEW IT I will also put up some stats from the game later in the morning.
  16. When the winds start blowing up around Casey Fields, the elements can be unforgiving. The Scorpions discovered this on Sunday when they blew it in the first quarter against 2013 grand finallists Geelong and, despite a spirited comeback in the third term, they went down by 16 points. The home side looked the better in the opening term but their indirect play was contrasted by the Cats who kicked accurately when they went forward and their third goal late in the quarter gave them the lead at the break. Geelong took full control in the second quarter booting 6.8 to 2.3 to be in full command at the main break. Casey was not helped by its poor disposal and decision making as well as the loss of speedster Sam Blease who had gone off early with a shoulder injury. At that stage, Casey's best players were skipper Evan Panozza and Demon youngster Jimmy Toumpas who was getting plenty of the ball but his disposal was a bit off in the swirly conditions. Stirred by coach Rohan Welsh at half time, the Scorpions came out of the sheds a different team and quickly went about reducing Geelong's 32 point half time lead. They were led in their efforts by a three goal quarter from former Cat Shannon Byrnes sparked by the dominant ruckwork of Mark Jamar who finished the game with 57 hit outs. Jack Fitzpatrick who had been off target earlier, started finding the goals (he also finished with three) and somehow, Casey found itself in front late in the quarter before surrendering the lead to a steadier from the Cats. Will Petropoulos put the home team in front early in the final term but Geelong regained the lead soon after and then won the arm wrestle that followed. They gained the ascendency in mid quarter and rattled on a few consecutive goals before a late revival from the Scorps kept the final margin to 16 points. The latter stages of the game saw some classy play from Demon youngsters Toumpas and Christian Salem, the latter finishing the game off with a great goal. Midfielder Mitch Gent was strong at the ball and Neville Jetta continued his fine form in defence, Mitch Clisby was a solid contributor for four quarters and last year's Gippsland Power best and fairest winner Ed Morris looks a find for Casey. The Scorpions face a tough battle next week against the revitalised Dolphins at Frankston. Colin Garland took the first steps in his comeback from injury and young Demon James Harmes put in a solid performance. 17. Sam Blease injured his shoulder at Casey yesterday. Will probably be on the injured list when the official version gets released.
  18. Warnock's report for striking Spencer was ruled out by the MRP because he used insufficient force to sustain a charge. Says it all about Carlton's effort for the day.
  19. What about Melbourne supporters? After reading Stuie's comments I'm feeling terribly guilty ATM.
  20. I couldn't get it the right way up. That's what I'm apologising for.
  21. I'm sure Nathan Jones isn't the type for making excuses but he did get a knock in the head early in the game and I think was still wearing the legacy of it during the week. Having been on the receiving end of similar (albeit at a far inferior level) these things sometimes catch up with you during a game and it wouldn't surprise me if that explains his lower output than usual v GWS.
