  1. Sorry picket but I wasn't keeping stats (it's often hard to identify players on the other side of the ground when they're wearing unfamiliar numbers) but I would say predominantly on the outside but there were times when he was inside and picked up two or three possessions in the same passage of play. I also thought that his disposal and decision making were below his usual standard but he improved as the game went on. Same can be said of Jack Trengove who put in a respectable game and Christian Salem also got better as the game went on (he kicked two but missed the easiest shot of the lot). The conditions were really tricky with the wind yesterday and it took the players some time to get used to them which put Casey at a disavantage because they should have been 2 - 3 goals up at quarter time and not a few points behind.I will put up a report tomorrow.
  2. I don't think the AFL could possibilty be happy with some of the one-sided results. The consequences are small crowds, less revenue and the effect on the TV rights. Not good for the game if this continues to spiral out of control.
  3. Byrnes named best Melbourne player at Casey today ahead of Jimmy Toumpas. One of those two will play next week for Melbourne v Gold Coast.
  4. Possibly Clisby who played well. I suppose if Col Garland played well and pulls up strongly after the game he could be an outside chance.

  6. Christian Salem kicks a lovely goal. He is one player who has picked up his game since half time.
  7. Fitzpatrick goals but it's too late 80 - 102.
  8. Christian Salem has a kick for goal and disappointingly misses. Cats well in control.
  9. Three in a row to the Cats who lead 93 - 73. It's all Geelong.
  10. Casey flagging and a Geelong goal puts them 13 points up at the 20 minute mark.
  11. A string of points to Geelong puts them 7 points in front - they're doing all the attacking.
  12. Cats goal and lead by 3 points after a Salem point.
  13. Snap goal to Petropoulos early in the last puts them in front again.
  14. Late goal to Walker of the Cats gets them in front and at 3/4 time it's 10.10.70 to 9.12.66. Jamar doing well in the ruck. Clisby doing well as are the two T's - Toumpas and Trengove. Salem coming into it a bit. Byrnes kicked 3 that quarter.
  15. Byrnes is firing & puts the Scorps in front 66-63. Cats have the slight wind advantage in the final quarter.
  16. Scorps 54 to 62 and Fitzpatrick gets a goal to make it 2 points down.
  17. Half Time: Casey 4.6.30 - Geelong 9.8.62 Toumpas has had 17 touches, Clisby, Davis and Strauss 12 each.
  18. In answer to queries about who is playing well, the answer is not many players at all. They might be good on paper but not on grass. The Russian has been getting hit outs but not much around the ground. The wind hasn't helped. Toumpas is getting the footy but is wasteful. Smith is OK. Think the WCE game and you'll get an idea as to what's happening.
  19. Cats in control and lead by 26 points. Sam Blease hasn't returned to the field after getting a knock in the first term.
  20. Cats 34 to Scorps 29.
  21. Quarter time: Geelong 4.1.25 to Casey 3.4.22 Swirly wind at Casey Fields.
  22. Cats lead by 10 points.
  23. Halfway through the first quarter, Cats lead 18 to 13.
