Media Madness
i wonder if Jake Nial's piece today on the failed Oliver trade and then the news that Oliver will not play have any connection. Jake is not the first person that comes to mind when you talk about poor journo's but i find it really tough to believe this is a sheer coincidence. I cant see the MFC pulling Oliver from the team as a result of this story. Which begs the question that TheAge chose to run with this story knowing he was going to be 'managed' this week. You wont be able to prove it, but i genuinely wonder whether there are any credible, ethical and moral journo's actually left in the AFL industry.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
The one missing from your list is pressure without the ball. Done it well last 2 weeks. The other watch from me is no Oliver impact. Does he have a positive, negative or neutral impact in the midfield.

Iโd say the club has given this info to him voluntarily - not exactly earth shattering 2 hours before itโs official. Also allows the the club to control the narrative.

JUH says thanks Oliver. Watch the vultures feed on this.

What a stupid article. What is the point of further examining a trade that didnโt eventuate. Maybe itโs another Geelong attempt to create some disharmony within the club and pick up a bargain in Oliver.

Media Madness
This was my initial reaction and still somewhat aligned to it. However, this is their workplace and i think everybody has a right to chose their workplace. The media have been far too aggressive in the past few years especially post covid and you have the personalities such as Morris, McClure, Corners, Barret who are disrespectful and at times stoop to gutter trash levels of reporting. As a society we have to recognize the impact that social media is having of people, footy players are no different. The AFL should absolutely be looking at the behavior of some of these journos and their employers and asking for a please explain.

Kentfield looks like he is about to rip Langdon to pieces in Pic #34.

Amazing design. Really impressive.

Trade Targets
I'd be super annoyed if Butters makes his way to any of the other Vic clubs especially the Pies. We should just go after Hinkley as an assistant now for next year, then snap up Butters as a FA end of next year.

The media and AFL have seriously regressed not just with Dillon but also under the [censored] that was Gillion. The pursuit of profit and commercial prosperity is starting to compromise the quality of the product that is being sold. I canโt see Dillon lasting too long and I hope they bring in someone that is purely profit focused.

The Logan Morris Thread
We would need to turn the club around to make it appealing to him.

The Logan Morris Thread
Fritta is a cherry on top player. Right now we need work horses that are willing to put in effort. If he isnโt capable or willing then we have to make the hard call and let him go. The game has evolved and players that donโt have a defensive output will get exposed even in the forward line. I do hope he turns it around, because I get great pleasure watching him play. Would Hawks be willing to give us a first rounder for him? Gunston and Breust are in their mid 30s and heโd slot in nicely there.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
But I think that works in Chins favour. He lets him go and doesnโt drive him into the ground. Whereas Curtis technique didnโt allow for him to take any mitigating action so Iโd argue he is more liable.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
There is intense media focus on the Eagles. Just in time for our gameโฆ There was ann internal, player lead intervention with coaches and footy staff yesterday about the mounting displeasure of their performance this year. Iโd expect a massive response from the eagles, but as is with these things, if we can withstand the intial pressure and put ourselves in front, I can see them falling apart pretty quickly. If, however we give them a sniff, then we are in big trouble.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
I remember this - was a great tackle. He let him go and still got some. Again itโs a footy act that is judged on the outcome. Annoying how everyone is coming to Curtisโs defence.

If we were to change to Port Melb as prospective site, the delay would be more than 12 months.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
Does anyone have the deets/footage on Chandlers suspension re the run down tackle from a few years back. It seems the footy industry has collectively forgotten about this all together.

Today Looks pretty lean to me. If you look close enough I reckon his heads looks too small for his body.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Goody did allude to the fact that he will still need more time at the start of the season. If what others have said is true that you donโt gain fitness in season, then why donโt we put him through more in season - I hate to say it- loading to increase his fitness base? Why wait until the next pre season ? Surely itโs not impossible to do this ? The season is just about shot anyway so I donโt know we donโt switch up Clarrys program to put this [censored] well and truly behind him.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
Itโs a training facility first and will be a very good one. Having public transport access is not a priority even if vfl and aflw games are played there. Caulfield gives us everything we need but will be in the middle of a racetrack.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
This is a good selection. The guy has the right credentials from a business perspective and given our most pressing issues are off field Iโd expect him to get it done. Coincidently I just watched the Hawks YouTube video on their new home base in Dingley and It is world class. We have to throw everything we can at Caulfield it will go a long way in attracting talent to our club in the years to come.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Wasnt he flying this pre-season though? Surely the hammy tear in '23 isnt limiting his ability to explode from contest. Perhaps its also confidence and willpower. maybe its all between the ears? He was non existent in the first Half, then came out like a man possessed in Q3 before tailing off again.
