We need a smart coach. Someone who can see the direction of the game and have vision to try something different. Commands respect from the players, FD and board. The review didn’t go deep enough IMO and it shows.

I think we have had enough time with Selwyn in charge to know that he is average. He was given a Ferrari and has turned it into a Ford Escort with a tranny problem and an oil leak

I heard / read that he also did change of angle running testing on the sideline before being subbed off. Didn’t say anything either way.

With all the talk about ball movement and high scoring games. Watching the two games tonight - they are not really high scoring.

At this point in the season it has to be. How do you go from the performance in Rd1 to now? Something has happened in the last fortnight I reckon. The lack lustre performances with our list - even though it’s not a top 4 list- it’s not 2nd last either.

I think they have a shot at top 8 but they won’t mount to much in a finals campaign. Both probably 3-4 years away from challenging… but both could just pull a Hawthorn.

So what does a coach replacement look like soft cap wise? If we have to pay Goody out now, assuming we are close to the soft cap limit, how do we bring in a new coach? What if the new coach wants assistants etc? Do the payouts count in the soft cap?

If they thought ACL or even a chance at being one, they wouldn't let him run and test it. Whilst you cant rule it out - and the incident did look innocuous - i think it still safer to assume unlikely.

Id be keeping Bucks far away from our club. He is a similar coach to Goodwin. The boys need a coach not a father figure or a mate. Longmire would be great for our club, he will sort a lot of things out i think. I think our list still has the talent to win a flag, so perhaps Longmire would like at and think the same thing.

What i dont get is low confidence... Its round 3 and we were good Round 1. You don't or should lose confidence in 1 game of football. That happens with 5 or 6 consecutive losses - which is coming btw. To me its no belief in something. Is it no belief in each other; in the coach; in the gamplan? but is lack of belief in something.. Because its too early in the season for anything else. Even Richmond have belief and they are a bunch of kids.

If it is an ACL, it sucks for him and the team big time. It is clear as day, we are nowhere near contending this year. If there is a silver lining, he'll be able to return still in season and put in a mammoth amount of physical and fitness work for next year.

This reminds me of Collingwood in 2021. They were performing way below what the capability suggested. Bucks tried to change but it just didnt work. There was no bad blood between Bucks and the players, but he was probably like Goodwin ... a little too close. I hope they move swiftly to terminate contract, we cannot afford to muck around. Can you bring in a new coach mid season? i dont think i have seen that happen before.

The whole players and coach narrative is just boring. The performance was embarrassing. Goody doesnt instruct to play without effort, hunt and composure. That is solely on the players. Goody is also to blame - i can't tell whether his gameplan is the problem though because the performance has been so bad i dont think you can actually tell anything about it. IF he has the lost the players, for whatever reason, if its his fault or not, he has to go. It is that simple. There is a lot wrong, we probably don't even know the half of it.

There is something significantly wrong with our stoppages. What was once a weapon and 1 wood is incredibly below expected levels. Slaughtered in Clearances again and CP again. Who is to blame here? Is it Max? Is he not getting first look and hence result in us getting absolutely cooked out of the middle? Our D50 turnovers are also pathetic.

But with Trac, Oliver, Gawn, May, Melksham in the side, you shouldn't have to rely on those blokes. We can say Goody, Gameplan and all that. But where is the leadership from our senior players? The talk about Bright, Love and Connection is all totally BS and is now embarrassingly so, going to come back and bite us hard. The Culture statements last year, is now the Love and Connection this year. We are club without leaders on every single level. From the boardroom down to the playing list.

Rebuilding is a very very tough thing to get right. Going 100% draft to rebuild is a very risky proposition and rarely works out. But we need to build our list with the right profile to suit the modern game and we have plenty of list cloggers in our 44. Oliver is still young and should stay IMO. Same with Kozzy - we have to hold him to contract as he is the type of player we need. Trac will only get a single 1st round i think, given his age and salary. But we have to offload him. Honestly should have done it last year. The next 1-2 years will be very important to show that we have bottomed out and are rebuilding. Just as Tassie come in, we should be looking to trade in ready-mades to top up and relaunch.

opinion or inside intel? Surely part of the off season review would have established some key KPI's and milestones for Goody who was given another chance where one should not have been given. we will be 0-4. If we lose to Bumbers, which is a 50/50 proposition at the moment, we will be 0-6 as Freo awaits us the week after. If that scenario does come to pass and we dont sack him, then we deserve what we get.

Can he be tanking to bring down his trade value as the Pies dont have anything to really offer us?

This was evident from last week. You can play and lose by trying then there is last week and this weeks performance. Long season ahead. Worst part is Dons hold our first pick. They are truly laughing at us right now. We are the whipping club of the AFL once again.
