  1. Funny thing reading back this thread. anyway bumping the Butters topic as he is a pre-agent (hate this word) and will potentially attract some attention this year or next ( as RFA) I’d love this guy in our team but not sure it’s where we need focus or whether it’s an excess to our current needs. If it’s a RFA play and we have cap space, then sure why not. With all the chatter around LJ, Kozzy and our obvious list holes I wonder whether JT and Lamby are having dıscussions with his manager given how we tried to get him in 2018.
  2. Great to get him back but is it the right move? Our forward line is crying out for small forwards. And assuming we lose Kozzy to facilitate this trade. Anyone coming out of contract end of this year?
  3. Brown had a free arm to brace himself. He should have used it better.
  4. HWBT = Hard Work Beats Talent. Not may saying but resonates with me.
  5. Seems like AJ and Chin escaped the scrutiny of the MRO? They did appear to be single motions, where the momentum of the player contributed more to the dumping action that the player itself.
  6. I agree and just dont get this. With our stoppage dominance, particularly out of centre bounces surely, surely someone is smart enough to lead up on a 45 towards the 50 arc. Heck, even if its to take their KPD #1 out of the goal square. I just dont get why there is a bunch of forwards who sit on top of the goal square. i cant even remember the last time we took a contested mark in that area. why not spreadout into the f50 and create a one-on-one. So often we see our midfielders win a clearance to then kick it deep inside f50.
  7. This had occurred to me as well. But i think its hard to render any judgement as his role may have been a defensive one and not get sucked into the contest, which makes it really difficult to impose yourself on the game. Even so, 1 or 2 big tackles, chase downs and pressure acts do attract ones focus and frankly i only noticed him on occasion, jogging around the field. It wasn't a great start but definitely a mulligan. I suspect he may be spending a fair bit of time at Casey this year.
  8. Having Lindsay and Windsor generate our transition from half back will be key IMV. They need a few partners in crime i.e Rivers, McVee to win defensive ball. It may not come all together this year, but i have seen enough of Lindsay to know he will be a good player. Paired with Windsor and hopefully Langford and Riv, will be the future of our midfield. Oliver and Trac will give us another 5 years of footy as well. So i think we can start focusing on plugging other areas of the team.
  9. Windsor will be a very good player.... almost Cadman like in my view but probably not as much inside. We have to keep off half back as he'll allow us much better run and scoring from turnover. Lindsay too. Not going to happen overnight, but in the next few seasons Lindsay and Windsor will be our main ball movement players.
  10. 29 Points from Turnover is not great for us . What was our average last season? 44 points against from turnover is also not great. But i was surprised by their low back half scoring. That is quite an achievement.
  11. They do their job. its the way we setup for the ground ball and are unable to create a stoppage or win a ground ball. infuriating.
  12. They fixtured this game knowing the GP race was on. Think about that for a moment. Whoever played GWS today in Melbourne was going to struggle to beat 30K. The weather itself would have kept another 5K-10K at home.
  13. The game was 50/50. In the end, Giants steamrolled us in the last quarter, probably aided by match fitness gained from Round 0. Is it fair? No. Does the AFL care? No Will the club do anything about it? No Best we all just accept it and move on. At first glance, we will have a good shot at Top 4, if we maintain our fitness. We have some solid players to come back over the next month or so and need to bank at least 3 win in the first 6 games. Not going to be easy.
  14. Lindsay was A+. Great pickup. What was wrong with Langford? I thought he'd be fresh but looked laboured. Smart, Henderson were servicable and AJ had the option to seal the game and failed to convert. Hopefully he learns from that. But he'll be a good backup ruck for Gawny throughout the year. Out of all the transition teams, the Giants are easily the best. We should have been ready for that last goal so it was a noble effort. Our forward line didn't look great at all. We got a number of lucky goals based on Giants mistakes, but our slow ball movement just doesn't give them a chance and our talls are just witches hats when the ball hits the deck. Giants looked very skillful and slick with ball movement. We should have done everything to try and get Callaghan - the kid will win Brownlow's.
  15. And he shouldnt have been playing. But nonetheless it was a good test. Ultimately i think we were disadvantaged by the fact that it was the GWS second game of the year.
  16. Good game.
  17. 1st turnover goal.
  18. Lucky goal Giants
  19. There it is…. Bang bang bang.
  20. Bang bang. One more come on!
  21. Windsor! Love it.
