Hows about this for an idea. I know it wont work but end of the day its a way to create pressure without having crowds involved. Every player contributes a % of their match payment every week so that we end up with a pool of about $10K a week (from 40 odd players it works out to be $50 for low earners up to about 300-400 for the higher earner). Host a goal kicking competition for the entire squad down at Casey. Have fun with the format. But the important this is the squad (and staff)can do just about anything to put off the kicking player falling short of physical abuse. $5K goes to the end of year tally, $3K to the weekly winner, 1.5K to 2nd place and $500 for 3rd. It's about a $100K pool at end of year. Distribute earnings for top 5. Could even get a sponsor to cover (but obviously need to consider Salary cap).

I have some time off in July, so looking forward to getting down to Gosch's for a training report or two.

I remember watching him play a praccy game against us in 2022 down at Morrabbin. You could tell then he was going to be a good footballer. Id throw stupid money at him and get Kozzy, Maysie and the rest of the indigenous boys around him to see if he'd consider. Maybe it'll get Kozzy to rethink a move as well. Saints would ask for a fair bit for him.. he's probably worth 2 first rounders.

100%. Last i checked our opponents live just down the road and have to fly just as far. The team feels like it continually needs to be pushed to perform. This is worrisome because our system and state of play doest not allow us a win that is ugly. Collingwood were able to beat Norf with half of their side out. That is the pinnacle of a strong system.

I agree. I'd like to see Lindsay rotated to the Half Back. He has a defensive capability too. I think this stuff will be relooked at in next years pre-season. But the Windsor at HB experiment didn't work IMO. Id also like to get all other experiements out of the way this year too, so we dont kill another season with poor planning. Rivers in the Midfield or HB - i think we need to let this one play out a bit more as well Turner Defender or Forward - we know he is a super defender. Can he be the forward answer we are looking for .... i reckon we need to persist with him in the forward line a bit more just to satisfy ourselves. Bill Laure & Woey - give them a last chance block of games otherwise induct them into the THoF (Toumpas Hall of Fame) and delist/trade. Jed / Sestan / Jeffo and Brown Jnr - give them all a solid go and see whether we persist development or delist/trade.

All the stuff you say is correct. Problem is the biomechanics of kicking is established at a very young in an athlete. By the time you are drafted, the chances of you changing fundamentals in kicking action is basically non-existent. You maybe able to tweak goal kicking with some band-aids but field kicking will rely on neural pathways established in the players youth which will be difficult to break as a young adult. This (goal kicking) is where i hold out some hope for AJ because its the one area of his game that is genuinely fixable. The club should fork out some personalized coaching for him to work on his craft. The other facets of his game are serviceable. The other thing is the psychology of it. ONce we started getting in the game and the behinds started mounted up, i can imagine it played havoc on the players minds. That is why when teams have accurate first quarters, they generally have an accurate game. Kozzy missing that sitter, which would have put us 2.0 instead of 1.1 is where it all started to go pear shaped.

Can you ask him why we can't kick straight?

Was very disappointed with Clarry. Just when we all thought he was starting to come good. He never wore a tag well even during his prime, but he simply did not work hard enough yesterday and we lost the usual inside dominance that we carry over teams like Saints. I don't know what is up with this bloke, what is it that is really holding him back. i need to watch some of his work pre issue to remind myself how good he was, just cannot remember what his 4xAA and 2AFLCA performances looked like.

No he shouldnt. We should stop kicking the ball to his disadvantage and give him a chance to contest. When he has the ability to run and jump he is very effective. Where he has to stop, prop and push back into the defender... name me a KPF in the comp that is effective at contested marking in that situation. He takes the front position all the time so, lets make use of that.

I wonder what the mentality is here. Do they just know they have lost and have effectively just given up. It has become quite the pattern of late.

Wasn’t expect to run the table for the rest of the year but you’d have banked a win against the Saints. I have seen enough to know not only that the season is dead, but we have a serious serious issue defensively - especially against teams that have great kicking skills and ball movement. Pies will maul us next week.

1. Tmac back in for Lever. He needs fitness and form Jeffo for AJ Cancel the mid season break and have a skills and goal kicking intervention. As far as I care they can practice until the team does at least 10 hammies. Not standard hammies, I’m talking off the bone type stuff.

I swear they move the goals over. I mean that’s the only rational explanation.
