At least these games have a bit of more intensity than last weeks training drill.

We must have sold the figurative soul to the devil to make the AFL do this. Luckily we are Demons so nothing really lost there.

Stability. Good move. I hope both of them get some proper support this year and the leadership group (presumably still to be decided) are a little more prominent.

Definitely a hard nut. Has the tank and work ethic. For me questions marks on ball use and footy IQ. With Salem, McVee, Windsor, Bowey, Howes and Rivers part time, i think we have the depth to cover.

Ball movement was better. Looks like we have been training the go fast and go slow modes. Kozzy Riv Oliver Billing’s Langford all look to be on the same page. I thought our forward line looked much more Open than what I was used to. Given how much we were missing it’s going to be hard to take much away from this encounter.

I don’t know why they didn’t go with AJ in place of Jeffo. He does provide that 2nd ruck option to chop out Gawn. I don’t know if that’s the plan with Campbell. Bill already has his ticket punched and Jeffo looking to be that way as well unfortunately for the both of them. I did however think Chandler worked really hard playing in that role. Often goes unnoticed as it’s a forward defensive role.

AMW looks like the dreaded knee. Fingers crossed. Geez I hope we don’t become the ‘injury ridden team’ this year.

We started pretty portly but I think the last 2 quarters was pretty solid to show off new gameplan. I like the ball movement. I like how Oliver is becoming a link up player and how players are running off half back. Our forward line looks much better when it’s not flooded JVR and Jeffo look like they can be a good 1-2 punch. Turner seems to be playing the high forward role too. Some solid recruiting in Sharp, Langford and Campbell.

I do think Campbell is a good 2nd ruck option. Kozzy solid. Langford promising. Bowey servicable. That about where the positives stop.

I know it’s only a practice match but we look terrible. No cohesion.

He does have a solid golf swing. Better than Stephen May's that's for sure.

Waverly Park as a potential development of home base? WTF! When did that become a thing?

Its awfully early to put a line through us. I don't think we are anywhere near being favourites but to rule us out all together is a massive statement.

Its the time of the year where all the obnoxious predictions are put to the airwaves. Many have us bouncing back into the top 8 but one i tend to keep my eye is coaches under the pressure valve. Goody along with Voss and Longmuire and Nicks are the consistent theme here. I do think Goody is undeserving of the attention for just one bad season, but the style and manner in which we imploded as a club, its easy to understand why. His deal ends at 2026. At what point do you start to think his job comes under the spotlight? Our first 6 rounds are: GWS @G; Norf @ Marvel; Sun @G; Cats @KP; Bombers @ Adelaide; Freo @G. I cant see us running the table, but i can see anything from 5-1 to 2-4 ledger after the first 6. I think pressure mounts at anything worse than 3-3. Our next 6 is easier with a 5-1 to 3-3 range. Which brings us to a 10-2 : 5-7 mid-season tally. Things would have be get diabolical to be worse than 5-7, but i think, equally, a lot would have to go right to get near a 10-2 position after the first 12 rounds. Goody would want a positive win/loss after 12 to have any chance of finals. Its really hard to have any certainty on this given the evenness of the competition we face in the first 12 rounds and just how bad our last 12-18 months has been. I do hop we have settled and turned the corner and are back competing, but there is a slither of MFCSS I have that we may not respond to last years cluster as we all hope.

Also lack of live reporting.. i mean its 2025, why don't we have multiple live video phone feeds from people who are located at key vantage points around the ground?
