Strange, i thought Clayton's payout would have to also conform to salary cap constraints unless of course we had a massive hole in this years cap - enough to pay Clayton out in one lump sum? Wouldn't he have to agree to that as well given the strict rules around accrual accounting? To write it all off in 2025 (assume 50% of his salary at 1.2M) is about 3M. How on earth would we have a 3M gap in our salary cap. This is how your PWC's, Deloitte's of the world earn their keep i suppose.

Its gonna take a while for this system to work with these young fellas. Despite what i might say in a post match day thread - you know the typical moronic doom and gloom stuff - in the cold, hard light of day, we have to temper expectations. 2-3 years max before we can really judge. The Hawks are just an example of how everything can just suddenly snap and go right. They are also probably the exception to the norm as 2024 was very much another year of expected bottom 4 before they even surprised themselves. To their credit they also backed it up again this year and are probably best set to take a real crack in 2026 if health doesnt come into play.

Nope - have to disagree here. He has been on our list for 2 years and barely played a game. Doesnt mean he doesnt try hard, it doesnt even mean he has to train. Given the turmoil the club has been under, its not a massive ask to show your face once a week and have a kick with the boys. In his defence, he maybe doing this already in the background i.e. weights room etc. I'd say this for any player that has had similar luck with getting a game. He falls firmly into the basket of prooving his worth and the investment MFC made which in my book means going above and beyond. Might be an antiquated perspective, but it is what it is.

He really does - he has great size and athletic ability.
