  1. I hate this type of game tbh. It’s like Basketball
  2. Our system understandably needs a fair bit of work. Ball movement is is about a C+
  3. It does and I think the gap between the top 4-6 clubs and the rest of the comp is quite worrying for the AFL. It’s going to turn into an English premiership style comp
  4. Geelong meet cliff. Cliff meet Geelong.
  5. Anddd can the real Oliver , please stand up, please stand up .. It’s a bitter sweetness to see him play like this. GWS midfield getting absolutely polacksed
  6. @Ghostwriter with all respect, a friendly piece of advice and for you own sanity and well being avoid this thread like your life depended on it. As close as you are to mama Fritta and how reliable your inside word is ( I don’t doubt it btw) Just let this one through to the keeper. /end joke
  7. They just certainly love building narratves. And this is the next chapter in the Melbourne Demons playbook. Just get used to this fact
  8. Firstly before i launch into MFCSS mode and all jokes aside. That is tragic for the family and i hope whatever the reason, they can work it out for the sake of that innocent child. Im sure everyone is thinking this but what is it with MFC and off field drama in consecutive years? Whilst it was appearing that things were calm and settled this year, on the dawn of our season, we have this! Adding salt to injury, it continues to happen to our star players! Like what in the AF have we done to upset the footy gods.
  9. It was a fair question though. Oliver was given every opportunity and Tracs situation was probably more of his own doing than the clubs failure to keep him engaged. we need the media to explore that more. The club though didn’t do itself any favours with the board and handling of the off field nonsense
  10. Exactly and lets not forget Geelong was flat-out, bog ordinary. 3rd worst game under Chris Scott. Now was that because of their state of their team, timing of season etc or was it made that way by the Suns performance. I'd lean into the argument that 14-16 teams would have beaten the Cats on Sat night. The defensive work on Trac was woeful. Its not like he has done anything different in his whole career. Touk played the ANB role well. The only difference was the Suns had Anderson, who pretty much sacrificed his own game to allow Trac to do his thing. In years gone by we had a few better options in Gus, prime Oliver, prime Jack. What will be fascinating is how this midfield group evolves over the year and whether the ego's of Trac, Rowell, Anderson, Humphries can all co-exist. If Trac starts all-of a sudden receiving all the kudos and attention or vice versa..its only a matter of time until ego's start getting hurt and unsettling the playing group. Not a matter of if, but when this happens. Our premiership side is the textbook case of how quickly things can go wrong.
  11. I agree. but it is what it is. There is absolutely no integrity left in journalism anymore.. You could have had least eased into the interview a little more.
  12. I get the premise of your view, but the bloke is still an AA ruckman, so he stays. We'd be mad to do anything else. The fact that he keeps getting voted as captain also tells me he is still reveered by the playing group, so again, we be mad to do anything else. I think Max HEath is a stop-gap, with real potential. The long term succession will be Kalani i think. Especially with the change in rules and his leap - the ruck will be a perfect roll for him. I doubt Max will be around for when Kalani is ready to take the reigns, but that is why we have Max heath.
  13. The transition stuff is the new winning the ball stuff … Players that can do both as well as each other can only be found in fairy tales and folk lore.
  14. A good thought project is will the Pies trade Daicos to start the impending rebuild that’s due in the next 1-2 years? Pendles, Sidebottom, Howe, Blondi, Elliot will not go on for much longer…
  15. In the end it’s power vs Poise. Good analogy on my reason. On the tee box I’m taking driver on a short par 4. Not hitting a 4 iron to find the fairway.
  16. Umpires really poor tonight missing absolute no brainers
  17. Danger by a mile.
  18. This is such a weird game to watch. Can’t put my finger on it. Both sides look poor and good at the same time.
  19. Lions: Culture problems. You heard it here first
  20. So who is responsible for this? Goody? Richo? One is gone and the other is on his last year, which I cannot see us renewing. What about the board? It’s a sample of 1 game and I think they’ll play above themselves to give us the FU so I’m still a bit suspect… time will tell. But I do accept that their performances would not improve at our club.
  21. And we have every right to ask him where this performance was in the last 4 years? I get he had the injury and all but the performance was his most highly rated one for his entire career. Also begs the question what else was holding him back at the Dees? Was he complacent/ too comfortable? His kicking was magnitudes improved last night and in dewy conditions too. Again where was this over his entire career? All of this is caveated with last night opposition being useless but even so, it was a performance that I have not seen from Trac aside from the 39 touches in the GF.
  22. It’s a good accolade - never disputing that - but it’s a strange combination of stats is all I’m saying. Like they are trying to manufacture the topm3 in the order that works for the narrative they are looking for. If triple double is the thing then clearances , disposals and tackles is a better combo IMO. Brownlow votes are a tarnished , interpreted stat.
  23. Absolutely they did. There are less than a training opponent. I wouldn’t read into at all. The moment the Cats ramped up the pressure they kicked 5-6 goals straight.
  24. I hear ya. But i wouldn’t read much into it. The cats are beyond farcicle … undoubtedly not ready for the season It’s a training run.
