Cameron has to be suspended for that push,

Stopping Daniel’s next week will be key.

Just like previous assumptions on here i.e. in season loading, goody changing the game plan or holding on tactics for finals etc , this one around trying to attract players in silence is non-sense. I believed all of the above to some extent but year after year were proven incorrect. I listened to SEN crunch time when Simmo talked about Oscar as a free agent. He said he wants to stay in WA but there appears to be some misalignment in salary and hence indicated that he was potentially gettable. Question is can we offer Oscar the $$$. All the commentators on SEN seemed to think that Eagles and Hawks will not be able to offer top dollar or match incoming offers. With Brayshaw's retirement and presumably the cap space we made available for Houston, i wonder if we can pursue Oscar as a free agent. It will be the steal of the century. The other interesting discussion during SEN crunch time was that the work on pulling players out of clubs was a minimum 18-24 month proposition. If we have not been having a conversation with Oscar 12 months ago, then we are unlikely. If we are not into him, then Lamb and co have to go. We have been a KPF short for almost half a decade, which is plenty of time to do something about it.

He’ll be AA FB if he plays every game. Solid player. That Hawthorn backline reminds me when we picked up May and Lever.
-
Geez the hawks have got some cheap frees tonight. Having said that Swans will struggle this year.
-
This is why opening round should be in Melbourne. No rain.

They play an exciting game. However, Sydney are deplorable defensively. There is no way we give them this much space. Maybe we get burnt on turnover here and there but this game is heavily on the outside so you cannot compare. If we try to play this game style , like Sydney are , yes we will get toast. But this is not our game style so I’d just hold your horses. Remember Port beat them in finals last year when the Hawks were hot. Port play a similar style of footy as the Dees.

Neither of these forward lines are drastically better or worse than ours. Just goes to show it’s not as important to have superstars in your forward line.
-
And expected score
-
Grundy stinks. Luckily we got rid of him last year😂
-
Freekickhawthorn is back yuck
-
I think Swans by a 10+ goal margin which will send all the pundits that selected Hawks as their premiership favourite back under the rock they crawled out of.
-
And the Monday night show is bat [censored] boring. Funny how they opened taking another swipe at Melbournes off season dramas. Not a single mention of Sayers … They really must have some gears to grind with the Dees.
-
Yeah I agree with this. Ground balls in d50 are a massive vulnerability. We lack agility in our defenders as well as our forwards. Teams are now targeting and recruiting a more athletic type of footy player to try and play the outside game and beat you with skill rather than strength.

On footy classified Hird mentioned that his view on Goody was pretty much what we have all said. He favours low scoring , stoppage based , boundary line biased footy. He’ll prioritise limiting scoring over hitting the score board. Can you get the coach to fundamentally change his philosophy?

Pic 15 - looks like Gawny has absolutely shanked that kick. Unless it was a checkside. -
Collingwood Football Club?
-
Whose role does he take? Bowey? Judd? Salem? Assuming Petty, May and Lever are all locked for next year. Then there is Windsor and Rivers who rotate through half back.
-
Yep saw it. I wonder if it gets equal coverage as a positive story than it did the other way round.
-
Hence the due diligence. People can find their way again. Clarrie is proof of that. There are reports that JUH has broken relationships with the coach and the Bont. A lot in the media are saying there is no turning back from that .. take it with a grain of salt obviously. its the type of player our forward line is in desperate need of.
-
I think you need to declare a conflict of interest when talking about our forward line ;)
-
I think JUH will be gettable at year end. Hard to see what the Doggies would ask for, but given his form and off-field issues hard to see how they would get good value back. We seem to have a good rapport with the Doggies so i'd say we'd have a decent shot. There will always be competing with the likes of Geelong, but i'd say they are probably not in the Doggies good books given the B.Smith trade last year. There is the obvious question mark on whether we'd want the trouble in our club, so you'd want to make sure he has turned the corner so to speak. He is the best candidate to complement JVR and Turner i think. He will play that Jeremy Cameron style role and has the capability and talent to equal if not surpass the man himself.
-
Turner has a good level of athleticism - i just think he needs more game time and experience to develop forward craft. With JVR i do agree to some extent with Lloyd. He isn't overly quick or mobile or good below his knees. But neither was Tom Hawkins. So its all about role. If he is expected to play a Hawkins style role, then i think he has the tools to succeed.
