From a timing perspective, the exit meeting and this storey leaking was a few weeks apart. At least it wasn’t immediate but the details eventually found its way to the leaker. I’d say that club officials wouldn’t leak this as it likely reduces his trade value given the narrative. The individual responsible has only a few motives as far as I can see. 1- has a bad relationship with May and wants payback of sorts. We know there are likely a few here, but I find it unlikely as they are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot by disadvantaging the club they play for. 2 - they want to hurt / damage the club by continuing the leaking of info. This one is likely a player as opposed to a club admin who would just quit. But a player with this motive would likely want to leave but cannot. Not many in this camp. 3- scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. This is a slightly less evil version of 2; where the player that wants to leave is using the media to help push his cause - but these favours don’t come free. I was never good at detective work , but I have my suspects nailed down.
  2. I find this odd. Yes, there were signs his body was letting him down this season- the odd outburst now and then was a tell tale of a man frustrated with his ability to play. The stats on him were also damning. His fall from grace was very quick but he will be 34 next year so i suppose in that context he still managed to play a lot of footy. Do you keep this bloke on your list as a mentor? play him in the VFL side ? he is probably a little too proud for that unfortunately and also hard to tell given his standing among his team mates with what we have seen in the past. But with all that knock him, he was a competitor, hard at it. Its a pity he didnt get a send off game, but i suspect this has our King's fingerprints on it. With every move we make, it feels like we are more and more going into a full list rebuild. If we also let Trac go (which i would support) that would be the final nail.
  3. There’s no way this popularity contest would go to Langford. Who cares about this award anyway, the winner almost always fails to reach the heights that one envisages. Having said that Reid would be a deserving winner has had a huge impact despite Langford being the hisgest rated first year player on record. How Curtain is even eligible is beyond me.
  4. Not if you time it perfectly to jump on the queenscliff ferry? Then it’s only half a day
  5. i swear to allmighty god. If Trac or Oliver (or both) goes and the media turn around in 1-2 years time and ask "should Melbourne have let these guys go?" or "we gave them away too cheaply" or whatever, in the famous words of one Terry Wallce, "I'll spew up".
  6. Impey for mine is a real good get. Hard workder, quick and good ball user. i rate him more than i rate karl amon. he is the real gem at HFC. I also like Hardwick - a real old school tough nut. We have no one in our backline that compares to those two. Infact our entire backline bar Turner just appears slow, hesitant and unskillful.
  7. Karma is a biatch. He is going to look like a fool now. I cannot see how the AFL is going to get this across the line especially how they have maintained that with no staditum with a roof there is no license.
  8. Until we don’t. There is growing discontent with a lot of facets of the game and I think it will eventually transfer to the bottom line on its current course. North and west coast are two examples of complete rebuilds and why you need to avoid them at all costs. They are equivalent to declaring bankruptcy. The real problem is how long it takes to build a team. There is only so much you can do with trades and draft. And if you get it wrong.,. We just have too many teams in the comp which dilutes the talent
  9. It’s a flaming circus with Trac The sooner he goes, the better. Even if he comes good, his disposal efficiency and set shot will never get that much better. He’ll never be defensive in mind set. He may rediscover his savage nature in the middle but I reckon Kingy will set us up like Geelong which will be a defensive half scoring team where clearance dominance will not be a major KPI for us. Trac will not be a major factor in this game style. He can hurt you down forward though and that game against Carlton last year where he went ballistic was a reminder of his capability - but he is never that ruthless consistently so the damage factor is not as high. With his injury I don’t know whether that courage will ever return - hard to say but at 30 I’d bet on it not returning at all. If GC or Adelaide were silly e ought to give us 2 picks or a pick and Flanders, you’d take it every day of the week. But does he even fit the GCS side ?
  10. JVR a gun at this stage is a bit of an over statement. I do hope he comes good, but a gun is Logan Morris who in his second year is kicking bags of 3-4 quite regularly and he doesn’t really have a partner in crime either. Nate Caddy in a side riddled with the worst injury list in recent history is also playing better than JVR. I love the bloke but he is one season away from yet another failed forward player for mine. Has to have a huge 2026 and kick 40 plus to persist with . 16 goals as a 3 Rd year KPF is nowhere near good enough.
  11. GC is literally one of the best case scenarios. I’d say Trac and our 2nd rounder for Jed Walters and Flanders feels about right.
  12. I’d make it dry clear what the exit criteria is: We need 2 first rounders coming back. If you need to take a pay cut then you do that in your own accord. I don’t care if he stays or goes TBH just as long as we get good compensation. If he goes Nuclear like Merrett, it damages his brand and we know how important that is to him.
  13. Really he is very meh. I wouldn’t want to overpay him.
  14. I have an eerie feeling Windsor is going to pan out as something similar to Jayden Hunt. Fast but an absolute butcher by foot. I hope like hell im wrong, but there are some worrying signs. I didnt think Holmes was a super good ball user when he was initially drafted so i guess there is hope for the Duke just yet.
  15. Saints must be doing something similar. How else can they afford all these players that they are signing up.
  16. Rumour has it that Guerra and King both have strong connections to the States Planning Minister and we now have the low down on up coming land releases around the Bellarine and Mornington peninsulas. Make of that what you will.
  17. I think all coaches are clever and intelligent. Buckley is just a good communicator and has had media training. He is also talking from a position of no pressure. Dont you remember how snarky he used to be in his pressers ? He may have warmed to people in his current role, but dont forget when the camera's and microphones are on, the TV radio personalities only show you what you they want you to see. Not having a crack at Bucks - just saying that he does his current job really well but that does not guarantee him doing coaching well.
  18. What about getting Darcy Wilson. I dont know what the knock on this kid is but i do recall he fell out of favour with Lyon. From memory he was a great outside / wing player and was very quick.
  19. Agreed. Pick 11 for Judd and couple that with F1 to move into the top few picks. Josh Lindsay would be my perfect upgrade on McVee rated as ‘best kick in this draft”. May not be there at Pick 11 though. We need these types of players and while we all thought McVee was good with the odd cameo here and there. He is no HBF that can slice open teams and cause havoc on the rebound. Lindsay is. Geelong Falcons boy so no doubt would have a level of familiarity with King.
  20. That’s what I was thinking. It defies logic how they have turned things around. They look so fit and strong too. Right balance of brains and braun
  21. Hawks will beat Geelong next week.
  22. ANB typical MFC kick there.
  23. The worst minor premier in recent memory. This is embarrassing.
  24. How did Crows finish 1st. They have no midfield
  25. Hawks way to kamikaze.
