  1. Don't forget that Fremantle have a mountain of players to attract/retain. Fyfe is coming out of contract and set to become a RFA at years end, Cam McCarthy is pretty much a lock to go there also and they have offered Hooker a monster deal. The more wins we have on the board, the more unrealistic it will be for Freo to lure him - so they will put majority of their eggs in the Fyfe, McCarthy & Hooker basket.
  2. I knew Kennedy had something when I saw him in his junior days. When we recruited him I was stoked. Told my brother and all my mates he will be a very very handy player and could finish in our top 5 in the b&f. I got laughed at. I'm doing the laughing now. Go Dees.
  3. I think recruiting players from expansion clubs will start getting harder by the year. They put a lot of time, money and resources into developing their high draft pick players - only for a team to poach them and trade them back a high draft pick in return. Surely this cycle hurts these clubs and will start demanding quality players in return rather than draft picks like Griffen part of the Boyd deal to ensure they have an immediate impact to help them push for finals. If we successfully land Prestia or Whitfield for that example, we would have to look at parting with a player of value +2nd/3rd round pick to get these types of deals done one would assume.
  4. I completely agree and was the first thing I noticed..Someone on big footy congratulated Melbourne and the players that we "learnt from last years painful St Kilda loss" when really, Max did the exact same thing. Nearly cost us again.
  5. I reckon Mattthe Jones has one of the best hands on our team. He is very clean in terms of picking up a loose ball. Impressed me a lot.
  6. This is all McCartney. His influence on Watts is working remarkably. Notice the way watts is now backing himself in with his run and carry. He is very confident and making the right decision. Go Dees!
  7. Where are all the haters now saying we could do without him? Sit down!
  8. Honestly guys..don't want to toot my own here but I have a pretty good eye for talent and normally call whose going to turn out to be an elite player and nail them more often than not. Clayton Oliver will be a star. Without a doubt. I have never seen a debutant coming into a fast paced afl game and having the awareness and aggression to match it with seasoned veterans. His ability to shrug players off tackling him to get his arms free to fire out a handballl is ridiculous. It's extraordinary. The only other young players I have seen do this is Patrick Cripps. Both of these guys will be A grade elite stars of the future. We absolutely nailed this pick to a tee. GO DEES
  9. Will be used as a depth player and linger in the VFL. Would rather have blokes like Stretch, ANB and Newton in the team over him.
  10. Even Salem was Jetta! I want to watch the replay and count how many times we got a name wrong. Atrocious!
  11. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-03-11/gun-sun-dion-prestia-in-no-rush-to-open-contract-negotiations "Gun Sun in no rush to open contract negotiations"
  12. Remember when majority of people on demonland weren't happy with the fact we traded up to pick 3 to land Oliver who thought he would have fallen to us at a later pick In Taylor, we trust.
  13. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but Oliver did two things for a first year player that really really impressed me. There was an instance where he ran and collected the ball and was immediately about to get tackled. Instead of just running into a player and getting wrapped up, he picked up the ball and jumped into the tackler, forcing him to tackle below his waist. He was able to fire out a handball over the tackler to one of our players in space. Another situation he was perfectly tackled and had no chance to handball the footy. Instead of just dropping it cold like a lot of players do, he guided it to his foot and did a neat little 3metre kick from the pack to one of our players into space. It's smart quick thinking attributes like this you want to see in an inside midfield player. Can't wait to see this guy in the home & away season. Go Dees
  14. I completely agree. Melbourne of Old would have just played it safe and drafted Parish. So glad we are drafting men now.
  15. Players do this quite regularly, but it's a simple fix. All the players need to do is keep bouncing toward goal and two things can eventuate from it You draw the sole defender to you, where you can handball over to your free team mate sitting in the goal square The defender gets stuck and sticks on his opponent, allowing you to run and close in around 20m from goal where you can easily nail the goal He panicked and kicked it from just inside 50, where all he had to do was keep running..
  16. Rolled ankle.. Will be back next week.
  17. I really like what this kid brings to the table.. but two things worry me about this guy His eyes lights up when he sees goals. Doesn't really seem to see anything else apart from trying to nail the goal himself His lack of penetration in his kicking. He always tries to run on an arc and unleash a hook kick to make up for his lack of long kicking but always seems to shank it. Other than that, think there is a lot to work with. Happy to have him in the team than Toumpas.
  18. A lot of players are signing extensions early despite waiting out the year. Zorko just locked away for a long term deal announced today also...hmm..
  19. Maybe us trading out our future first round was the right choice then if this does eventuate?
  20. And have to ensure they sign on Fyfe as he is set to become a restricted free agent.
  21. SEN reported this morning that Cale Hooker has been offered a five year lucrative deal by Fremantle to join them at seasons end.
  22. Oliver's first game on debut he lays a strong tackle and gets reported for it. This is the stuff I like to see.
