This is almost reaching levels of taking the [censored]. He had the chance to go home but chose to sign a 4 year deal, then when the club is in turmoil he plays the homesick card. Hope the club tells him where to stick it. But from another perspective, the club is in absolute turmoil right now. How could a coach possibly survive when your 2 most important players are desperate to leave (and they're not the only 2), another leader is jumping ship, you have another star at a crossroads and a player banned for illegal substances. How is he untouchable in this situation?

There is no doubting he will probably be in the top 5, even top 3 in our B + F, but if you haven't noticed even Houston can see through this PR exercise to show we have a good culture. I don't think we need to be hopeful at all. What we need is the players to pull their finger out and find the love again, some refreshing ideas in the coaching box and a firm reset on the players mindsets. But think of the reality. A year of football into Oliver who got himself clean. A big pre season and what could be next year. Returning Trac Brayshaw money to improve free agency A good high pick in a depe draft to top up the talent the way Sydney do and fund a kid to inject some youth in our side like Windsor has. the "depth role players" we lost last year have been replaced by some very good kids who look at home in AFL football. Some gem finds in the middle like Rivers and Kozzie There is no standout elader in the competition and every team is chaseable. Infact at times this year we have looked the best side in it (Geelong, Carlton fourth quarter, port away etc) The stones are there, the club can either sit down and have some hard truths and turn it around or sit around and sook that the media is still against us.

Love Nibbler, but there were plenty of times the club should've given up on him and didn't. However, this is a nicely timed PR exercise from the club. Come to Melbourne and we'll look after you and your family and give you waht you want But the constant fanfare on social media is a bit much. Don't see the loss in a guy who read a report about culture and made the decision to not come. Who did he sit down with at the club to come to that conclusion overnight. Plus mortgaging our future on a guy who will be 28 when he plays his first game I hope this is a good lesson to players to keep their matters internal.

That’s seriously disappointing from the coaching staff. They had the chance to get some minutes into Jefferson and the chance to look at our future with petty back and Jeffo forward instead we’re back to Tomlinson and Petty forward. Yuck

One thing I've learnt on this site while lurking for a while is how combative people are against those trying to give some info. Especially when that info is so clearly spot on Edmund said almost done - and a few days later I said IMMINENT about an hour before he signed. Re Houston - I have no idea if it gets done, but I would be surprised if it doesn't. But the club doesn't know either because if it comes down to really having to give up 2 PICKS in the first, they might need to reconsider their plan to get him, and whether Oliver actually is tradeable etc. We don't know pick numbers either until the season is over so things are moving and changing all the time.

The club has played the Rivers situation beautifully. In 2020 they let him go home for lockdown and do his fitness there. He came back at the end of the carnival of footy and was great. Moved him into the midfield just as he was starting to question whether it would happen. They let him go home regularly and kept it out the media. Rivers is very happy in Melbourne but if you've met someone from WA ever, you'll now the love never leaves and certainly something he'd explore later on in his career. Nothing to worry about in the immediate future.

No info they WILL be traded Clarry - absolutely kidding yourselves if you don't think the club will explore trade options. He's a distraction and has a big contract. I doubt he leaves - I can't see a team giving up a good pick AND taking his contract and we won't accept less. Clarry not keen on leaving either Rivers - Won't leave now. he's open and honest to the club about homesickness, so wouldn't rule it out when it's time to cash in or lose out. He's committed for 4 years so we have time to sort this out.

I'd be surprised if Houston isn't a dee next year. 2 firsts is very steep for me but I don't think the club are worried about firsts right now with the picks they would get for Clarry, and dare I say a certain new converted midfielder who wants to go back home to WA I disagree however, the draft is steep this year and look at the impact Windsor has had at the club. We could stay in our premiership window and rebuild at the same time like good clubs do, and like we did getting in Jackson and Pickett I'd hate for the club to discard 2 first picks for a 28 year old

I hear a lot coming out of the club usually and the one thing I haven't is the name Jake Waterman. The one name we should be throwing everything we can at. Tells me 1 out of 2 things: Either another off season of disappointing recruitment where we don't identify how badly we need a key forward Or We really want to keep this one close to our chest. If this guy was Victorian he'd be the hottest talked about player. We should we throwing everything we have at him if we were serious. I can't believe we're not and I can't believe we'd identify any other position of need other than key forward
