  1. Not there but watched it all. Jefferson excellent in horrendous conditions for a tall forward. If they are going to blood him this season no better time than under the roof at Marvel with pristine conditions. I doubt they will but wish they would. Should he perform in our last 4 AFL games it could shape our off season recruitment thinking.
  2. Absolutely and emphatically agree with this. Given the likely event that we won't make finals it will be the first time in 3 years since we've had an extended post season break and early return to pre season. Likely to get a pick 6-10 is gold. With numerous retirements and delistings and salary cap space October is very exciting. Apart from the Freo games and perhaps one or two others we have been competitive in an incredibly difficult season for the Demons. Could have easily defeated Lions, Blues and Giants and been in the top 4. Great comeback last night. Petracca back, Clarry with a full off season and young players ore advanced I'm excited and optimistic.
  3. Giants are a real chance this season . Dangerous. Our fadeout was poor but comeback extremely admirable against a formidable opponent. Finals not really in the equation now. Good pick coming our way. Hope Jefferson and others get a crack in the remaining rounds.
  4. Totally agree. He was good today in horrid conditions at Casey.
  5. You watched a different game to me. Still our highest possession gatherer despite being below his best. Tried his heart out for a player apparently tradeable and has checked out. A Melbourne great. Prepare for the fact that he is a Demon for life and I'm rapt. If anyone is not there is not much to say.
  6. Lachie Neale could be heading for a third Brownlow. Freo got picks 6 & 19 for him. What did they do with those picks.
  7. One of the worst in living memory. Plethora of misguided handballs whilst Giants do nothing but kick. Coaching must play a part but players dumb. Tomlinson has checked out as a defender. Hore looks good in the wide spaces but unaccountable. Thankfully the result means nothing.
  8. Are any of the Casey defenders actually going to defend or just kick chase? One of the most dominant performances one could witness by a team in these conditions and likely lose. Quite unbelievable .
  9. In fairness the wind is very tricky particularly at the end to right of screen. Jefferson is an excellent kick at goal.
  10. Jefferson is a really exciting prospect. Generally at VFL conditions don't suit him but he still performs. Will benefit greatly in AFL conditions and delivery. Ground work is exceptional for a big man particularly in the wet.
  11. Howes is a classy player with heaps of potential however his lack of intensity is his achilles atm.
  12. All points to Sparrow getting the message. 10 disposals and tackling like a beast. Love to see him bring this at AFL level.
  13. Jefferson surprisingly good at ground level. Impressive. Pity the delivery to him is below par. Be nice to see him show off his marking prowess.
  14. Ok. Mesmerised by our flag. Thought everyone was outstanding. Edit. When was the last time Sparrow played a decent game?
  15. Long overdue for Sparrow. Has he played a decent game since the 2021 GF?
  16. What an embarrassing segment on FC. Also incredibly disrespectful to pot one of the all time greats based on one slightly down season. McClure is crud. Says he's going to the Crows . Said the Adelaide CEO almost said as much on the weekend. Then cut to a clip that said nothing of the sort. Boiled down to saying they have a 'whiteboard with names on it'. Don't all clubs? Cringeworthy. Then said it was a big 'IF'. Abominable 'journalism'. Oliver is not going anywhere. Barring injury look out for him to have a massive 2025 in Demon colours.
  17. Cal Twomey has Sam Marshall going at 21. He's usually a very good judge. We could land around pick 10 which would be very handy indeed.
  18. Problem is Fullarton is not a ruckman. He's just a VFL standard ruckman. In actual fact I'm not sure what he is. Goody's presser was damning . In as many words said Fullarton wasn't up to it ie no ruckman on the list to replace Gawn. Indicated Fullo had a lot to learn. That's being generous. Unless we get a genuine ruckman with some AFL experience in the off season forget about it. Nick Bryan springs to mind. Gawn is rising 33. Unlike the time with Grundy coaching staff need to be firm with him and insist he has weeks off. Give the likes of Bryan as much exposure as possible ready to take over in the next couple of years. Do nothing and we're doomed. If he's out of favour I'd settle for Two Metre Peter. Not in form atm but has runs on the board.
  19. Talk of trading Clarry is simply embarrassing. In the top 5 Demons of all time. It could be argued he's No1. 4 B& F and could have had two Brownlows if not for Petracca, and vice versa. Given the tumultuous off season he had I'm amazed with his output thus far and even the fact he's on the park.Clearly no fitness base and flying before the finger injury. His numbers still stack up very well but below his imperious best. He has had to take more heat with the absence of Brayshaw and Petracca. We need to address this in the off season. With a full pre season and no distractions a 5th b&5f is in the offing. To consider trading him is disrespectful.

  21. My understanding is that we have a first round pick currently standing at 9. This will be affected by FA compensation but I hope not. Can anyone enlighten me on academy picks for Swans, Suns etc?. We have pick 38 in the second round, 42 in the third and a 4th rounder. If we slip below the Suns and Hawks it will be pick 7 without impediments.
  22. Fantastic! Shows his commitment to the club and in our direction. Might sound a bit strange after today! For me is the heir apparent key back when May retires. People forget he is only 24. Could be the main man for 10 years. These blokes don't grow on trees. Has had a poor season but in fairness is not a natural forward. Definitely not a ruck. Form down back earlier in his career was first class. Need to get other building blocks in place by stocking up the midfield and obviously a genuine ruck. I've got confidence in Jefferson coming on. Reckon we will finish 10-13 on the table. Means a decent first pick we can use or trade.. Not sure on the academy picks in the draft? Just hope Battle and Baker stay put. Money in the cap means we can be active. Very interesting October lay ahead.
