Don't mind this. In reality zero chance to win this year's flag. Is it worth finishing in the 8? Not for me. The loss of Petracca and Brayshaw is immense. Get a pick in the top 10 (think the Suns take a couple of spots). With likely retirements/departures of Brown, Brayshaw, Smith, Melksham, Hunter, Tomlinson and, possibly TMac, surely there is salary cap room aplenty? With Max, May and Viney in the twilight of their careers now is the time. Throw plenty at RFA's Battle, LDU and perhaps Yeo. The latter two could transform a struggling midfield. Hate to say it but is Lobb worth a 'bag of chips' as a relieving ruckman/ forward? No worse than anyone we have now. Is Max King gettable? Anyway, the idea of a long break and a full pre season is some minor consolation but important. Fortunately we still have a good spread of youth on the list but I still think we have to strike whilst our 'champs are still around.

P.S. Clarry missed eleven games with a hammy last year having been in very good form. Not sure of the exact figures bit I feel that we won a decent majority of games in his absence. Petracca's loss is immense but others have to step up. Not diminishing the seriousness of his injury at all but I wouldn't be listening to Tom Morris for a second. If we are there when the whips are cracking I'm confident Trac will be back!* I have no medical expertise whatsoever.

If Petracca is out for the season it's going to be nigh on impossible. If not, we are a glimmer. After round 15 last year Carlton were 15th on the table with 5 and a half wins. Giants were rung above them with 6 wins . Both teams went on to be narrow losers in their respective preliminary finals. GWS extremely unfortunate. Not withstanding the fact there is an extra round this year, IF we beat North in our next game in round 15 we will be on 8 wins and possibly a one or two rungs higher on the ladder. Therefore, better placed than the aforementioned teams last year. Barring one two players the only way is up for some of these blokes who have been awful. Perhaps I'll lean on the old cliche ' form is temporary, class is permanent'. Viney and Oliver, to name but two, are not this bad. I'm actually expecting Clarry to step up and show his true colurs in Christian's absence. We had 20+ contested possessions against the Pies. Turnovers and conversion killed us. I must admit lack of depth is a concern. Having said that, the next block of 4 games should be a focus. If we can't beat North forget everything that I've said. I think we will. Lions at the Gabba is tough. Surely though we should be driven after our tepid performance against them at the G. We certainly owe West Coast and I think Essendon's ladder position flatters them. Win 3 out of the 4 and, hopefully Trac recovering, and things will look very different.

Fair question but I think, amongst others, we need to send a message to Sparrow. Go and get 30+ possessions 3 weeks running at Casey. He seems to be the player that is excused for poor form for seemingly a myriad of reasons. I'm not picking on him but he appears to 'walk on water'. Tholstrup, Rivers, Salem, McVee and Pickett can all run through there. Woewodin could be worth a crack. If Tom Sparrow changed his name to Adam Tomlinson he would have been gone long ago.
-
I hope this is in jest. Sparrow has barely fired a shot in the last two and a half seasons. Problem is Goodwin has publicly lauded him. Tom should be the first to go.
-
Goodwin has admitted that both himself and family have been affected by the off field dramas. Totally understandable. However, given our extraordinary demise, I just wonder if it might have all become too much for him and he may not last the season? Lose to North and it will be on a knife-edge.
-
Has Sparrow played a decent game since the '21 GF? Goodwin's love child.
-
Nonsense. I think you meant if it goes near Petty it's a rebound score for the opposition.
-
Whatever happens Tomlinson is always the first to go. People will point to his incredibly small sample size as a forward at the Giants. Could he really be any worse than Petty? Really? I'm a huge Harrison fan but if his name was Adam Tomlinson he'd be long gone by now. Tomlinson has been very good at Casey. Call me old fashioned but I always thought players were selected on form. Tomlinson can also ruck. I hope Petty can find something but it is a scandal that he has gifted so many games. Tomlinson has always held his head high and produced. Not so Petty. Nothing to lose.
-
Again, he is the favourite whipping boy.
-
Is Tomlinson the biggest 'whipping boy' in the AFL? Outstanding against against StKilda a fortnight ago. Not great last week but had a plethora of mates. Fair enough Collingwood may not have the match ups but Turner and others are seemingly constantly forgiven. Adam has every right to be disillusioned.

Even less of a reason to be so personally abusive.

Breaking news! Clubs keen on a free agent. Grounbreaking.

Just signed a 5 year extension with the Swans. 'Good mail'?🤣

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Deelectable replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't get me wrong. Yesterday was horrendous with plenty to be concerned about but are we overreacting? Myself included! In 2017 Richmond lost to Adelaide by 76 points and proceeded to lose their next three. In round 16 they lost to the Saints by 67 points and were 14 goals to 1 down at halftime! Media were all over them like a rash. Richmond finished 3rd and the rest is history. Might be clutching at straws. No doubt need a response and a win this week. Not going to be easy. -
Let's be honest we've only beaten lowly teams and those out of form at the time. Despite some flattering scorelines we've been pumped by the Swans, Lions, Eagles and now Freo. The outlook is bleak. How we are currently favourite to beat the Pies beggars belief.
-
Has been gifted far too many games for mine. No real sign of improvement. He's reached his 'ceiling'.
-
I know there is not much beneath him but has Sparrow played a really good game since the '21 flag? I know Goodwin loves him but I get the sense he 'walks on water'.
-
Doubt Jefferson and JVR could be anywhere nears as bad as Petty and Turner. Yes, forwards not solely to blame but these two were beyond woeful. I've been a Petty supporter but enough is enough.
-
I would play both JVR and Jefferson and leave out Turner and Petty. These two were just about 'worst on' today and it was a Melbourne Cup field!
-
Agree with some of that but what do we do mid season to replace Brayshaw? Get an unproven ruckman when the midfield is bare. Dunstan may have been ordinary but a ball magnet and miles ahead of most at Casey atm. Goodwin has always refused to rest our midfield stars and it's starting to tell.Numerous times Dunstan should have been selected but never was. Harmes and Jordon good depth. Just let them go. Don't let me get started on Grundy.
-
In 1990 , If my memory serves me correctly, Collingwood had consecutive weeks of 80 point thrashings late in the season and the rest is history. I'm not hopeful.
-
Play Jefferson. Nothing to lose. The lack of depth at Casey is alarming but we knew that at the start of the season. Oh wait, all except the football and recruiting departments. Thought it was OK to lose Dunstan, Jordon, Hibberd, Brayshaw, Grundy, Harmes and Smith all really not replaced. It's a scandal. Midfield is tiring but Goodwin has never been one for rotation. Development at Casey has been halted with an uncompetitive outfit. Max and May in their twilight. Viney has the body of a 35 year old at 30. It's over.
-
Max and May 33 next year. 'Dynasty' is officially over.
-
We have to arrest something in the second half. Diabolical atm but a percentage smashing makes it two losses. Taking a 5 goal defeat and come out fired up next week. I think I'm clutching at straws.
