  1. With ANB jumping out of a cake as a surprise?
  2. Or you'll be suddenly free to attend our training sessions in addition to all of our games. Might have to pawn that jacket though.
  3. By golly, it's hard not to be buoyed by those ins. Five top-ten draft-picks, a few hundred games of added experience. Imagine how the boys must be feeling? Throw in Trenners finally cracking the team, Watts' 150th, Brayshaw's return to the field, and our indigenous strip getting its MCG debut, and we shouldn't be wanting for any extra feel-good inspiration.
  4. Trenners gave it to him. Said he didn't need it anymore.

The Federal Government must have a pretty decent Foxtel package, (although they can't check the fine print because there doesn't seem to be any print at all. Just handed Rupert 30mil. You'd be expecting some good statistics with that outlay. Australian print-media circulation statistics (weekly): The Herald Sun 850,000 The Daily Telegraph 639,000 The Australian 336,000 Etc. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/jul/19/government-declines-to-explain-foxtels-30m-handout-for-sports-broadcasting Straight-up outrageous.
  6. In today's paper: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/jul/19/dig-finds-evidence-of-aboriginal-habitation-up-to-80000-years-ago
  7. I've thought about this a few times recently: there's an odd lack of recognition for Aaron Davey as one of the true champions of the MFC. Off the rookie list to vice-captain the club. 178 games (roughly 25th on our all-time list). The Bluey in 2009, and one of the few players to provide any joy during that period. A former fan favourite with a huge highlights reel. Are we all just collectively trying to forget a tainted era (see also Brad Green)? Or is there some lingering effect from (I think it may have been Leigh Matthews vs. Saints 2011?) being called-out in the commentary for not going hard enough - although it was revealed later that Davey was injured. This reputation sort of followed thereafter, especially once Davey has lost his pace. Or, are my perceptions just off?
  8. Hey Saty, did you get any sense from training of who the omissions might be this week ?
  9. There was reportedly one odd bloke there with a beard who seemed somewhat suspicious following Neville around on his scooter.

So amidst all the other hullabaloo, I missed this somewhat odd initial sticking-point in the recent collective bargaining agreement; public GPS player metrics. Unfortunately only the top-five in each category per game will be published, and unfortunately only for Telstra customers. Anyone have the app? Some interesting reading. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/afl-pushing-for-broadcasters-to-show-cuttingedge-player-metrics/news-story/d702799e020d3e6345f8ca51f5d13f52 http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-19/tracker-data-reveals-afls-new-speed-king
  11. That's a rather bleak prognostic. First Elimination Final 2017 Richmond 4,000,000 8 24,000,008 Melbourne 26 12 168
  12. The problem with Bernie is that we get zero value from his vaguely aggressive acts. At least there was some logic and appreciable motivation behind what Lewis was suspended for.
  13. A breathalyser would have detected about half a dozen 'reviews'.
  14. So . . . on whether Liam wants to return to the AFL: 'I'm not pretty sure about that' ?
  15. My electric can opener doesn't seem to be working.
  16. Anyone have any idea how to circumvent the Age paywall when you've used up all your freebies Note: found the Jurrah article it in the SMH.
  17. Tom and Oscar somehow immediately draw your eye on those team-sheets.
  18. Wonder if any of the boys in town for the RAP launch might pop in to have a look as well?
  19. I don't think you can say that anymore outside of Queensland.
  20. But then in 2000 we didn't cop a single sanction. And in 2013 we were hammered by the tribunal.
  21. I'm a Gus fan, but it must be remembered that he lost his spot prior to his troubles. ANB, Harmes and Bugg are all ahead at this stage, having shown the versatility to offer something at HF as well as through the middle. He'll come good, but there's a few hurdles before he's ready for automatic selection.
  22. Finally found it. Many similarities. 50sec mark, really pleasant commentary. Fitzpatrick debut, Morton opens the ledger . . .
  23. Misson made a specific point of saying that, above all, Gus is keen. Bridge crossed. His fitness should be fine and he's been in full-contact training for a few weeks. If all goes to plan, he'll be ready for selection as early as next week.
  24. And whoever eats a heap of Spam from Woolies would probably be deserving of such an email address.
  25. We finally have football to talk about this year and this site's gone the full Chomsky over media minutiae.
