  1. Place your bets here on the future Demonland club-house champions in each category of emoticon usage. Sad: Angry: Shocked: Love:
  2. I once went for a walk and saw something amazing.
  3. 17-5 AFLX Finals Wildcard. OOB last-touch penalty. Just freakin' stop already.
  4. I think we went in unchanged after beating a South Australian team earlier in the year. Stay away from the omens thread.
  5. Forgetting Old Man Sheeds for the moment - two swipes from Roos in recent weeks I've found extra reassuring (not that I really needed it). System over talent re. GWS - and questioning Collingwood's list and recruitment strategy;: http://www.sportingnews.com/au/afl/news/roos-slams-collingwoods-recruitment-failings-afl-magpies-pies-paul-buckley/1uhzk1md4h7bp1xvbiejhok6k0 It just reinforces that Roos was ever-mindful of these factors while dragging us up off the canvas.
  6. Maynard started out off half-back with the Scorps, no? Think JT or else JKH may be on the block.
  7. Lolz Bulldogs and their Bernie Quinlan curse. Tippet now? Still looking for a replacement after all these years. Why don't they just employ a forward development coach fcs? They think they're Sydney but they're doing it wrong.
  8. A question to the community - is there any correlation between those who have played football or another team sport, or those of a mature vintage, and a steadfast distaste for the notion of co-captaincy? For the record, I played junior footy into my late teens (as well as other individual and team-sports since), and am in my mid-30s. I'm also fine with joint captains.
  9. Welcome aboard DeesNuts, although people might think you're a sock-puppet if you're in agreement with me and post late at night. And likewise, I agree with your assessment on Trenners - his biggest influence last week was in short chipping to find a target and relief from pressure in defence. While at times the chips reminded me of a forgettable era, those skills transferred to half-forward could be very handy when entering a crowded 50. Unfortunately though, I think it's a matter of trying to continue to instill these same skills in our current HF personnel, as JT doesn't have the capacity to goal from long-range and may be a bit unfleet of foot to apply the required forward pressure. I would also question his ability to take the daring option when it presents.
  10. I'm curious. For those with the patience to venture onto opposition fan-sites, which Demons players have sparked 30-page discussions on their potential poaching? Probably not 30 pages, but I'd be interested to hear in general who opposition fans think they can prise free, the currency suggested, and their perspective on these players as compared to our own.
  11. Roos trolling Sydney every chance he got.
  12. Pushing up from one's respective end is a Kundalini technique to address our problems with the 'release-valve', and depends on a strong spine and soft hands when engaging in elevated contact.
  13. It was the captain's version of, 'just kick the bloody thing'.
  14. I meant in the sense that we had the model you speak of, but we cut him loose as it's not the way we're looking to solve the problem. Lever is the answer, but it's a different type of solution.
  15. That was Lynden, not Lever. With our team defence, we need someone who can reliably drift across and spoil or mark in front of the big forwards like Tex et al - as well as display poise and clean foot-skills when rebounding. That would be Lever, not Lynden, and not Oscar or Frost.
  16. Absolutely killed us last time with 'release-valve' contested marks between the flanks and wing. We need to address that however we can, though we've shown little sign of coming up with a solution against similar teams. Gawn, if he plays like the first half last week, will be of big help. Pedersen would be handy, but while okay, he's not outstanding with contested marks in this area of the ground. Although here's hoping Watts' has had the butter wiped off his fingers up front. Hogan and Frost to push up more from their respective ends, and get Hannan in there to divide the contest. We need numbers and organisation at these aerial contests, so as not to get outworked and blocked and allow them to get free jump at it.
  17. I was a supporter of the decision because I thought, among some other things, that on-field, a) Viney was the type of character who would thrive on the responsibility, and b) it might offer some extra benefit for Nathan Jones. I wasn't right or wrong in my opinion and have no idea of the impact the decision has had. Some could argue that we've demonstrated especially poor discipline in the year that Viney was elevated to captaincy. Correlation does not equal causation.
  18. How about if we let them wear their home-strip as a concession, and we'll come up with something that doesn't clash?
  19. Was quietly cursing last week that Hoges doesn't move as fluidly as Tex Walker. This was very Tex-like in balance and motion. Resist including a Tex-book pun, resist including a Tex-book pun, resist including a . . . .
  20. Two straight first round picks? Would that be the most ever offered up for one player? The AFL is creating a monster which will come back to bite em' on the ass. Basically allowing clubs to disequalise themselves in a desperate short-term grab for cash and a flag. Note, North and Saints are leading the charge; clubs which need success now to financially survive. But wait until the fans turn away when half the league has bottomed-out after having sold their farms and stretched their caps beyond wiggle - (although that's when we'll likely see the AFL rules-on-the-run specialty come into play). I'm not an economist but I think this requires very very careful strategic planning and foresight - that perhaps we're in an inflationary cycle and could capitalise on the rebound. The problem is, it's happening as we're building our window and we also need success now, and I'm concerned that we will/will have to go with it.
  21. Disappointed to eagerly open this bump and not get a fix of crushed bones and twisted arms.
  22. In 2011, the progression was smash first before learning to win.
  23. I mentioned it in the OP as an exception (although I failed to clarify which season), along with our otherwise ordinary win against Brisbane.
  24. It's probably more a sign that we're not as fat as the KFC Richmond supporters or as skinny as the Collingwood ones who can't chew solids.
