  1. I would love Alwyn Davey at our club. Imagine a forward line- Smalls- Aaron Davey, Alwyn Davey, Wonaeamirri, Addam Maric (all of these smalls playing stints in the midfield) Medium- Sylvia, Robbo, Bate Then we just have to develop our tall forwards- Miller is quite good Add Watts (our future Nick Reiwold) plus perhaps Newton (recently signed 2 year deal) could push on as well That is SOME forward line!
  2. is belzebub for real? the guy is 22 years old on his second contract! he certainly is not on the big money yet. 10k is crazy, amazing, AWESOME even if he was on the big money. most footy players consider football as their proffession. to give money to your employer for pure love of the club is an incredible act. love u brocky. And belzebub, playing devils advocate that downplays a positive gesture is simply not cool, especially seeing as you couldn't possibly believe what you come out with...
  3. we better hope we've drafted well since 2003 coz we are relying on those drafts to build our team for the next 5 years. if the current crop of youngsters fail to produce we won't be seeing on field success for a long long time
  4. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/demo...7702145798.html "Mod Edit: Its fine to post the link to the article. But please avoid quoting the article in full. Thanks" I think this makes perfect sense- When 95% of your starting 22 are under 23 yrs old and you are coming dead last you should NOT be using up 100% of your salary cap!!! Neitz, White and Yze are 3 of our highest paid players and think its now a certainty that all 3 are gawn at years all. Holland and Carrol would also help, Plus Robbo and McDonald are now veterans... So actually bringing down the salary cap will not be too difficult. If our young players become stars in 2-3 years time we can start paying them real money when they deserve it! In terms of finances this will save us close to a million dollars in unused salary cap + will mean we will get perhaps 1.5 millino from the afl next season instead of 250k! Overall this could earn us $2.25 Million next season, plus it seems logical for a rediculously young and developing side... I just wonder how on earth we have been so over-paying our players all this time. it's not like we have any true superstars in our team?
  5. just added $50 bucks... i'm only a uni student so its all i could give... but i'm definietly getting caught up in the demolition fever
  6. What we have gained: - a permanent training base... finally no-one can use the line 'homeless to us'!!! all we need now is a home for our admin (either at MCG or bubbledome) and that will be sorted out before years end - a community to build around. Casey is known to be one of the biggest growth corridors in Melbourne. We will have VERY close involvement with the community running clinics... this means more Melbourne supporters in the long run! 500k is VERY little price to pay for those 2 massive gains, besides which the 500k will be placed in "something other than a bank" whatever that means... so that will mean future financial gains which will surely be greater than 500k
  7. Alwyn Davey is FRIKIN AWESOME. would love to get him.
  8. Warnock is a strong defender... he is much better than Nicho or Shanahan or carrol or any other dud fullback we'v had over the last 10 yrs!!! HOWEVER, in a perfect world, i wouldn't have him as our future fullback. If players develop as i hope they will (which is certainly NO guerentee) my starting key defenders would be S.Martin and J.Frawley, with C.Garland and J.Rivers playing across half-back. Nonetheless, if any of those 4 don't make it- (J.Frawley and Martin mightnt develop as hoped and J.Rivers might not get onto the park)- then bring on WARNOCK!
  9. i love the title of this thread... 'the thick plottens' lololol classic!
  10. Fair enuf... i see promise in him. 206cm, 21 yrs old. anyone of his height we would have to put 3-4 yrs of development into him, and freo have done that for us. it would be an absolute steal if we got him in the PSD, because he is realistically worth pick 10-14
  11. silly comment from someone who clearly doesn't watch much footy. If you want to look at how a good ruckman influences a match look no further than David Hille. He is an example of a star ruckman, and when he's playing well Essendon do NOT lose. full stop. Ruckman have had big roles in every premiership pretty much for the past 10 years datinig back to the brisbane triple premiership. come finals time especially, ruckman are VERY important. just ask collingwood after losing a prelim final by a small margin, when Ottens won geelong the game coz of the shiteness of collingwoods' rucks
  12. other players out of form who deserve the chop... Bartram and Bell.... Jonesy has been poor lately..prob deserves to be dropped.
  13. seems logical.... My personal preference is back and forth between Watts and Rich. I have changed my mind many times already and will continue to do so until draft day i assume. After Newton dispicable performance last weekend and our lack our KP forwards i have swung slightly Watts. The top 10 will be sooo different if the demons take Rich. perhaps like this??? pick 1- DEES- Watts pick 2- EAGLES- Rich - pick 3- DOCK’S- Naita pick 4- PORT- Hartlett pick 5- DONS- Ziebell pick 6- BLUES- Hurley pick 7- TIGES - McKernan
  14. personally i doubt whether Debour will be a top 20 pick, let alone a top 3 kick. the guy has an unreliable kick... clubs don't want guys who cant kick these days, espcially not first round draftees. wasn't impressed by his in the nat championships... Hurley will not get past Carlton's pick. they are DESPERATE for a full bak. Naitainui will be a top 3 draft pick... full stop.
  15. and while u have watched a couple of under18games, our recruiters have been following these kidz for 4-5 yrs... so after most clubs recruiters have publicly said they rate Naitanui as a top3 pick, i think i'll trust em...
  16. Someone give me a player who can kick low, hard and accurately into the forward line, kicking to the forwards advantage. Our kicking into the 50 has always been abysmal... is it really so much to ask for?
  17. If i had it my way:::::: OUT: retired (forced retired)---- White, Neitz, Holland, Yze borderline retire- depending on their bodies and whether they want to go on- McDonald, Whelan Delist- Weetra, Bode, Carrol Trade for picks---- one of Bruce or Bell--- only because these are the only players on our list that have some worth, but are also very expendible. keep Sylvia because though expendible, his trade value is below his real worth, so it would be a bad trade for us. overall- 4 retired, 3 delisted minimum---- maximum 6 retire, 3 delisted and 1 traded. IN: 6-7 draftees, 1 PSD, 2 rookie elevations.
  18. genuine tradebate. so many years in the system and has now proven he will never be a top footballer. he has terrible decision-making and no awareness. but he does have some value. perhaps southaustralian club interested for 3rd rounder?
  19. a comparison with Sam Mitchel might be more appropriote. I dont see any similarities between Valenti anad Boomer at all except for both being short. the way they play is not at all similar
  20. solution = lottery system for bottom 4 clubs
  21. Newton has no real future. he may be good in the air, but no afl player can expect to be successful when he is completely useless once the ball hits the ground. i dont like Newton at all i see very little if any promise in him becoming a good afl player
  22. which one of our mids are super players. any good side needs a couple of superstar mids. we lack any
  23. MFC will not trade for any player over 22 yrs old... Alwyn is 24. even though that's extremely young, we want all our young guns coming through together. Any trades that involve players over 22 will not happy imo
  24. Rich, Naitanui and Watts... i'd be happy with all 3. i'll just trust Prendergast. i have a personal preference for Rich because i think we need to improve our midfield desperately but Watts would also be awesome for our KPP. Coming last is VERY important also because it gives us pick 1 in the PSD. If we get Warnock with pick 1 PSD, then we are essentially getting pick 14 for free... Because if we payed Warnock's real trade value he is worth ATLEAST Cam Wood last year, if not worth more... LEt's get WArnock, sure up our Ruck stocks for the next 10 yrs... then pick up Rich or Watts... plus pick 17 and 19... exciting times ahead
