  1. Watts 20 disposals, 4 goals. Looks like he took being dropped in the right way, too good to languish in VFL, should be back in the seniors. Next week: IN: Watts & Jurrah (as sub) OUT: Dunn & whoever doesn't play their role this week I'd love to see Petterd, Blease and Bennel playing well back in the senior team, but want to see them playing consistently in the bests at Casey. All 3 have potential to be very good AFL players, but their deficiencies are holding them back. Let's hope these 3 develop and come on asap!
  2. According to MFC twitter, Viney and Gysberts both being sent to hospital for scans on suspected broken jaws.
  3. Why are you implying that there is something Melbourne could have done to prevent a collision injury like a broken jaw. Broken jaw is 6 weeks out. Gysberts horrible start to 2012 continues.
  4. Players i'd like to see as really consolidated in the best 18 by years end: - Jurrah, Petterd, Watts, Gysberts, Bennel, Blease Of those not playing VFL today, i'd add Stef Martin and Strauss. That's 8 players younger than 24, 4 of them first round picks and all of them supremely talented. If we're going to improve it's going to be through these 6 players (plus the youngsters already in the starting team) taking big leaps forward in their football development.
  5. People should just accept that we're using our first round pick on Viney. No matter what number that is. If you look at it like that, then you can see that the lower we finish, we get the advantage that our compensation pick after our first round pick improves. So if we finished top 8, yes, we'd be getting viney for pick 13ish (a steal), BUT, our compensation picks would be 12 and 14. Whereas if we finish bottom 3, then we'd get viney, but our compensation picks will be pick 4 and 12.
  6. Ye because we've got such a great history of turning first round picks into stars. Dangerfield has the toughest years of development behind him in a club that takes development very seriously. He's an up-n-coming star, ready to take on the competition. Picks 5 and 12 are speculative, might turn into duds (especially knowing our record of first round picks) and even if they become stars will take 4-5 years before that happens. I'd spent pick 5 and 12 in a heartbeat on a dangerfield- a player who's dynamic and tough and fast and exactly what we need
  7. FB: Bartram Frawley Grimes HB: Bail Rivers Garland C: Trengove Moloney McKenzie HF: Howe Watts Sylvia FF: Jurrah Clark Davey Ruck: Jamar Dangerfield Viney Int: Jones, Magner, Morton, Petterd/Bate The following kids coming through: Gysberts, McDonald, Cook, Taggert, Blease, Bennell, Strauss, Tapscott
  8. offer him $1m per season. He's an absolute gun. 22 years old. hard midfielder with elite pace and skill and can kick goals. We're not paying anyone else, why not use our free cash on a young gun. Also pay-back for Scott Thompson. offer adelaid 2 priority picks. Add Viney + Dangerfield to our midfield next year would make an instant impact. This midfield actually resembles a decent looking midfield: Trengove, Viney, Dangerfield, Moloney, Sylvia, McKenzie, Magner, Jones and Gysberts.
  9. Agreed. Our forward line is bloody good to kick any goals at all, considering how few forward 50 entries we get and how aweful the actual entries are. Petterd does need a change though, he is behind Howe, Jurrah and even Dunn as a medium forward. Why not put him to half back?
  10. I think Petterd needs a dramatic change if he's going to make it on Neeld. Our forward line is pretty chockers going forward- Clarke, Watts, Cook, Martin, Howe, Dunn, Davey, Blease etc, along with midfielders who can go forward. Why not try to get Petterd back playing defence. He has played their before. His first year he played a lot off half back. It worked for Leon Davis, why not for Petterd. I fear that if he doesn't get a change of scenery, he might just drop off the map altogether. That would be a shame considering how talented he is
  11. Yes, we do. Watts was one of our best performers first 3 weeks when it was too tough for everyone around him. Wet and greasy night was not going to be the night for 196cm forwards- just ask nick Reiwoldt. Watts has steadily improved, can't wait till he's 100kg and 23 years old. Tapscott is quality. He has been put into the side without a pre-season. He'll be on the back foot the whole year bc of that, but we know he's capable of being a strong bodied and skillful player. Trengove is the player to worry about the least. he seems to be carrying an injury and is underperforming, but he's 20 years old. Dustin Martin has struggled big time this year, doesn't mean you question his ability. Trengove will be a great player, no doubt
  12. The Good - We still have Frawley, Clarke, Sylvia and Jurrah to come into this team who are in our best 10 players. Sylvia counts because he was a sub coming back from 6 weeks off footy - We know that Watts, Trengove and Tappy are quality youngsters. They struggled last night, but we know they're going to be fine players for our club. - We still have Gysberts, Blease and Strauss (not to mention Cook, Jack Viney, pick 5ish and pick 12ish next year) to add to the mix. Plenty of potential there. The 21+1 that played last night played with great effort and desire, but I think the above proves that we are very very very far away from our best mix of players. Does that give us hope?
  13. Watts has been one of our only players to stand up in the first 3 weeks of the season and was one of our best players. Being 196cm, raining and greasy day was never going to be his day. Look at how well Reiwoldt performed in the wet. Watts will be fine. he's continued to improve. When he hits 100kg and 23 years old, look out competition
  14. needs to get to 100kg asap
  15. It is worth noting that it looks like EW owe the Melbourne FC at least $500,000. We will surely explore all our legal options and may end up getting an extra $500,000 on top of all the current deals. And considering we came out of this EW scandel looking like a club with high integrity (which is very valuable) i think we've come out very well
  16. Good opportunity for me to recognise that Mitch has been a great acquisition by the club. He is a very good player. He is the only player on our list capable of being a strong tall forward (Jurrah, Watts etc are not that). Therefore he is CRITICAL to our structure. He is one of the only players on our list that plays with the perfectly right amount of intensity and aggression required at this level
  17. If we could land a second major sponsor, i think it would be really positive to morale around the club. After a horrendous few weeks, the club has come out of it with high integrity. If we could get Jurrah back playing and a second major sponsor, all we'd need is a few wins!
  18. It's sad that having Green out for 4 weeks doesn't at all hurt the senior side. Haven't said that since before 2000! What we really need is a fit and firing Sylvia, Moloney and Jurrah back in the team asap
  19. Why are we so bad. why do we have no heart? we should be at the stage where we can compete with anybody. our club is in huge huge trouble
  20. Daniel Talia has proven nothing other than he's good at getting injured, having average footskills, and that he'll be a flanker and not a true key position defender.
  21. I hope I won't just be shot down... but can someone explain to me. Energy Watch is a company. It's CEO and co-owner was Polis, but it is much more than 1 person. It will continue to function and be the same business now that Polis is out of the picture. If energy watch sacks him as CEO (already done) and distances itself from him, then why couldn't the club have kept the sponsorship with Energy Watch. Surely a company is bigger than one employee! Why throw away $6m, when we're in such a precarious position, when we could keep it and just distance ourselves from the one disgusting human being
  22. I agree with this topic. To many supporters are afraid for change. Guess what people, what we were doing before WAS NOT WORKING. we lost by 186. we got dominated every second week, we had no heart, no fight and no mental strength. We've been a pathetic club for too long. Other supporters and other clubs do not take even half-seriously. We need change. We need a guy to come in and tell us things aren't ok, things aren't fine the way they are. And if some supporters get upset because they're used to the style that saw us lose by 186 points, then so be it. If it means a few players like Moloney and Davey get upset and dropped to VFL. so be it. Because last year, Moloney, Davey, Green and Rivers were our leaders, and no leader i have ever heard of would let their team lose by 186 points. it's unheard of and you can't lose by that must without having not one ounce of heart. The senior players have rightfully been put in their place. The supporters are going to have to accept change and so will the players. What was going on for the last 4 years was unacceptable. Change is good people.
  23. I thought Davey did some nice chase downs in the first half. Btw, Tynan must be dropped. isn't ready. is currently a passenger. Nothing against the kid, but we don't give out free games to 18 year olds anymore just for the sake of it. Let him make mistsakes and develop at VFL level, not AFL.
  24. We won't come last. GWS and Gold Coast will be below us. The problem is that even if we have pick 3,4 and 11... we'll have to use pick 3 on Viney. GWS and Gold Coast know we are committed to him so will nominate their pick 1 or 2. Getting Viney for pick 3-ish, undoes some of the benefit of getting him father son. because in a regular draft he probably wouldn't even go that high.
