  1. I have been in the anti-Lever trade camp, not for trading to get him, but for paying so much for him. I am convinced and others are well within their right to disagree with it, that he does not have many great qualities as a footballer. I watched him really closely on Saturday, his game was ok, but he relies on his big spoils a lot as he is obviously not 100% fit, and that was to the detriment of the team at least 3 times, and cost us a couple goals and he also has the turning circle of fairstar the funship. His kicking is average, at best and his 1 on 1 skills are also average. His marking is fantastic, his courage is great, his reading of the play is good, as i have said, he is Marty Hore, but 10 times more expensive. I hope he can have a great pre-season, get some muscle on, work out his place in the team and prove me wrong, but its been a less than ideal purchase for the price we paid.
  2. its a horrible position to be in again so quickly having to look the argument of winning v not winning again in the eyes. Mark my words, Sydney have out the cue in the rack, they dont want to win, so this week will be interesting. We wont beat Nth in Tassie anyway so that not a problem, Shaw has lost 4 of his last 5 games, so as newly appointed coach, after having his club kick 1 goal for the match, he will want to finish strong. Our selection this week will be fascinating. Will a Chandler or a Bedford get a run in a game we dont really want to win?
  3. Condolences to all the family and friends. No many names more synonymous with the MFC than Frank "Bluey"Adams. A legend of the Club.
  4. Its not his job. his job is to comment on the good or the bad. perhaps direct your anger towards the coaches in charge.
  5. This club could only dream of having a captain like him at the moment.
  6. I really find this thread to be so disrespectful on lots of levels. Be great if this could be closed, why is Garry singled out? its a thread that is really just set up to pot an ex champ of the club.. but that seems pretty typical at the moment.
  7. in a horrible year, thats the worst of it. No goods: Lever, Omac, Dunkley, Baker, JKH, Salem (gone backwards) Oliver (nothing game) Brayshaw ( done) Jones ( worse capatins game i have ever seen) Viney (tries but isnt good) Melk ( shouldnt be playing) Lever ( put him in twice becaus ehe cost us 2 picks)
  8. I have liked what he has done the last 4 weeks, and his first season with us was good. But if he is on our list next year then that will nearly do me.
  9. So we have Pick 2 and pick 21ish .. is the best case scenario for us Anderson then Langdon, and also maybe trying to get another pick somewhere in the second round?
  10. Thanks DeeSpencer, good intel, i haven't probably watched a lot of Smith this year, probably still thinking of the player of a couple years ago. Not sure re: Ellis to be honest, i see him as a solid player who often lets himself down, so would fit in when you think about it!
  11. I agree LN, i really like him as a player and i still think he has what we need, NO doubt his age of 31 is probably the defining factor and as you say, its not like we are in the window right now and every chance not in the window either next year.
  12. First time since 2013 that Lewis has kicked goals in 4 games in a row. Its a testament to him that he has managed to do it, can lose your pace, but the smarts dont disappear.
  13. Just Saw Jon Ralph on twitter ( in know, i hate myself for even typing the name) mention that why not have a go at Issac Smith and Keep pick 2? arguably get Smith cheap, add him and Langdon and w get to keep pick 2. I think Isaac smith has a couple years in him? and have no doubt that in the Hawthorn way he will be out the door as they look to turn their list over and get younger players in. Thoughts?
  14. Would we be happy to get Landon for our 2nd pick, currently around 21ish? is that what we are thinking? its a bit hard to get a feeling on what he is actually worth?
  15. From memory BBP, it was a forerunner to how they have led all year, meek and mildly and with little fight. I think if i remember right Nev Jetta was the only one that went to the Port Players and it wasnt even to remonstrate it was to just push them away. It was the first really low moment in a really low year in my opinion.
  16. This is the post of the week. We cant hang our hat on AVB, but the club is in such a state that a bloke who has played 7 games out of a possible 82 i think i read is almost being putin the messiah category, that he has been the difference or at least will be the difference. Its such a shame that he has had such problems, because he is a complimentary player and a protective player, bashed and crashed and made space, haven't really seen many others do that for us. And i imagine in R1 when a kid playing his first game got into our most important and best player at half time and there was such little and feeble attempts to stand up for Max, AVB may have been the one to really stand up. If any one is looking for something to indicate when it might be a long year ahead or something wasn't quite right it was the moment, R1 after 1 hour of footy, our season was cooked.
  17. I have said enough about Jake on here, i think he is just going and not providing a lot at the moment. He is courageous and is a really good mark, and i do appreciate his leadership, but his 2 first round pick qualities dry up pretty quick after that, and i do acknowledge his injuries, thats why i say, put him away for the year, its hardly been a smooth road back from his reco.
  18. It takes all types to make up a list an an AFL club, Sydney Stack is the latest example of the past being taken into account and then a club backing themselves in to make the environment a place that could work for the player. I am all in for HB to have a crack with us, in Melbourne, away from Perth, away from the Suns, the ultimate last chance. Remember when we didnt take Jack darling because he was a bit naughty at school , so we took Lucas Cook instead. HB same draft coincidentally.
  19. Yeah its a good point re: the risk projects we have, and i suspect 1 or 2 of those mentioned might find themselves on the outer. I agree it needs to be managed carefully and expertly and professionally (something i dont think we do that well) but worth the conversation in my opinion.
  20. Our club is so safe when it comes to these things, no risk, no reward. I completely understand the reluctance from many on HB, lets be honest he is has been a disaster since he left the Suns. But i look at this way, if you are prepared to trade first round picks for talent into the club then why not offer a prodigious talent like HB a rookie spot. Back our new man Burgess into get him up and running, get Nev Jetta, one of the AFLs most respected players to mentor and guide him, get him to enjoy his footy. Steven May would know him i assume pretty well, , get him involved. At some point the club has to take a risk and look outside the square, we did it with last with Liam Jurrah, ultimately it didnt work in the end but we gave it a go and we all still smile about Liam and his involvement at the club.
  21. Jetta wont be there for the rest of the year.
  22. Yep, there seems to be a drop off after the top 2, so i could stomach it a bit more if it was pick 3 but even then, our last top 10 pick was 2015 and i know you said we might get pick 9 back which is something im still a bit reluctant to spend it. The Other hand, we get HIll an established player of the caliber we exactly need who is 26years old.
  23. I simply dont think we can afford to give up an early pick again, especially if its Pick 2 and we get 1 of the 2 clear standouts in the draft.
  24. Freo are in the Essendon mold of dealing with at Trade time. There is no way they will settle for a second round pick for Hill IMO. I reckon they will want / demand a first rounder.
  25. I dont know about being irrelevant, because the media keep talking about us, saying we have escaped the scrutiny, feels like we have been in the gun now for 4 weeks? What i do know is that I'm back to being embarrassed, which sux, because i love the club but its embarrassing what they have served up this year, id rather be irrelevant than an embarrassing football club.
