Write them an email, send them a lette, start a petition, mount a board challenge (just don’t take the club to court ffs). Do what you like but costing the club financially is counterproductive and will not result in greater success in any way. Yes. So what? Should I laugh and celebrate my own clubs troubles?

Anyone not renewing because they’re unhappy with board or management or a particular player is weak as [censored]. Financial reasons I can understand (although I would suggest downgrading to cheaper options rather than cancelling) but punishing the club as a [censored] protest against any individual(s) is childish and self-defeating.

And if someone hadn’t left Blake Acres on his own in the goal square with a minute to go in last years semi we’d be above 70k, that wasn’t the boards fault..

This is it. I’m as flat as anyone that we haven’t got there for a second flag on the G but the drama on here is overblown. They’re hard to win.
-
My point is people seem to think we’re in some unprecedented dive towards folding the club. We’re not even losing as many players as the Tigers are (after Dimma bailed on everyone for a better deal) and we’re starting from a stronger position. It’s obviously not ideal but the only confirmed out is ANB, and Trac seemingly if a deal can be done. The club will be fully operational in 2025.

It is happening to another club, Richmond is haemorrhaging players on an hourly basis. They won 2 games! Where the 24/7 watch on tiger land?
-
Well sure but they’re in charge.. My point was more that if they don’t trust themselves to make the decisions they should go, no indications so far that they don’t. Whether demonlanders want an external review right now or not is a bit irrelevant because it’s not up to us.
-
Thats Richo’s job, and Pert’s job and they then report to the board. An external review is not some magic spell where a kindly football wizard comes in and says “you need to do x, y and z” and then you do that and you win a flag next year. An external review involves a whole bunch of meetings (which takes time away from doing actual work the footy department should be doing between now and November) and then they go away and then they put together a PowerPoint (based on previously prepared template) and you get the PowerPoint and an invoice for $100k and they disappear and the same people (Pert, Richie, Board) make the actual decisions and are actually accountable and the consultants are off drinking cocktails and never have to worry about whether anything in the PowerPoint makes any difference to anything. Its useful if a) the board want to make certain decisions but want to shift the blame to the consultants or b) the people internally have NFI what to do in which case they’re better off just getting out of the way and letting someone else do it.

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
Fromgotowoewodin replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Me. Demonland. I have once again renewed my interest in Margo Robbie. No suggestion at this stage Margot is considering leaving her film producer husband for some weirdo on a footy forum, just that the interest has again been made clear.- 223 replies

Well that’s probably not unreasonable, everyone else on here seems to want the whole place cleaned out from the board to the bootstudder which I don’t think is helpful. I think we have to keep Goodwin for at least another year. The back end of 2021 is the best football I’ve seen us play in my life. We’ve been exciting before, we’ve scored heavily before but that finals series was something else. I don’t think he’s had a clear run at it since, and while we’re all flat about the straight sets we weren’t far off. This year has been no good but we make some changes, see what we can get in the trade (despite CP5 tanking our brand) and draft and go again. I don’t see any better alternatives out there - west coast can’t even find anyone to apply for their job.
-
Why would you add in depth like Tomlinson though? He’s not best 22 and has no contract which is why he’s going. He’s hardly Shai Bolton. Brayshaw would give his left agate to be still playing for us. Can’t blame the club that he’s not. Smith made his own mistake. It’s not a tigers situation at all.
-
Hence why I said “changes to be made no doubt” which you seem to have quoted but not quite grasped.
-
Don’t bring ANB into it, completely unrelated to club issues. If you don’t think the club will survive without Trac send him a letter with your pocket money taped to it and see if that changes his mind. Meanwhile the adults in list management will work out what deal we can get and how to move forward. Sacking the board and coaching staff isn’t going to change his mind, Trac wants out for Trac, wants to play in front of the pies big crowds and boost his TikTok numbers. No one said everything is fine but a complete reset equals a decade of recovery. Maybe Pert needs to go, maybe it’s Richardson. Maybe there’s others, but burning the joint down helps nothing.

When Faced with Adversity, You Fight Back and Win
Fromgotowoewodin replied to Macca's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to see not everyone wants to burn the joint down! Post of the week. -
Trac’s not even bigger than Gawn let alone the club. Norf are 10 years into a rebuild and won 3 games. They’re a shambles. Tiges entire list is leaving. They’re in trouble. We’re under the pump no doubt but burning the joint down doesn’t make 2025 better, it sets us back a decade. Changes to be made no doubt, but panicking doesn’t help anything.
-
It’s really not. It would be disappointing to lose Trac but no player is bigger than the club
-
Appalling is a stretch surely. Judge accepted their actions were reasonable and left it to the parties to sort out the costs. As someone who pays membership fees I would expect the club look to push them onto Lawrence as he brought the case, I’d prefer my fees pay footballers and coaches than lawyers. Doesn’t seem all that controversial to me.

“Independent review” is a myth. Who does the review? Ex-players? do any exist that don’t have some sort of axe to grind about something? We let Gaz pick the coach once and that went well. Do we get ex-players from other clubs? Why do they give a [censored] if we get better or not? Corporates? What do they know about running a football club? What’s the scope? Is it the board to the bootstudder? That could take years. Is it just the football department? Medical? we didn’t drag ourselves out of the mud with independent reviews, the AFL put Jackson and Roos in charge and they ran the club as a proper club should run. Maybe we need change at the footy department but a review won’t tell you that. The board and CEO need to make their judgements and act on them, which we can’t do at the current time with all the noise going on as it would be an absolute feeding frenzy from the journos. No idea who Lawrence is apart from all this noise, I’m sure he means well but as per @FreedFromDesire he probably needs to pipe down for a bit - now’s not a good time to be agitating imo.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Fromgotowoewodin replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fact is whatever anyone thinks of the board, management or coaching staff the club can’t make any changes while one player is trying to blow the club up from the inside. Trac (or his team) leaking and whispering means the club has to bunker down and back those in their roles until that situation is resolved and probably until after next year is underway. Can’t have one unhappy player dictate the whole structure of the club. -
Their first goal was from a shocking 50m penalty so I’m not too worried about them being hard done by
-
I am constantly amazed at the decisions they make

So you are angry at Goody cos everyone else has been wrong? Cos the consensus half way through the 3rd quarter in the 2021 GF was that Bont had a premiership medal and a norm smith around his neck - everyone was wrong about that too. We won a flag in 2021, didn’t go back to back cos all our good players were hurt by finals in 2022, lost two finals by less than 2 goals combined in 2023 and we’re still in with a shot of playing finals this year. Maybe just enjoy the win instead of holding on to your anger about prior years. No one is owed a flag, a lot needs to go right no matter how good your list is and we haven’t had much luck since ‘21.

Are we witnessing a re-build by stealth
Fromgotowoewodin replied to Salems Lot's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seriously overrates the Hawks, Crows, Saints & Bombers imo. Hawks top 5 listed: Day, Newcombe, Weddle, Watson, Ginnivan - I’d take Day and Newcombe keep the rest. Crows: Rankine, Rachele, Michalanney, Soligo, Keane - I’d take Rankine (though Koz is better). Saints: King, Owens, Wanganeen-Milera, Phillipou, Henry - I’d take King (JVR will be better) and Owens. Bombers: Martin, Caldwell, Durham, Caddy, Perkins - I’d take Caldwell and Durham. Our top 5 is as good as any on there and are still improving. Probably don’t have the depth of young talent as some of the genuinely better lists but we’ve been in the top 4 for 3 years which limits your drafiting. Much better placed than that article suggests. -
I mean I get it, he’s not playing well. He knows it, goody knows it, and after 18 weeks of pregame, game day and postgame threads everyone on demonland knows it. Clearly no one at Casey is rated higher than he is so if he’s fit he’s getting picked. Posting day in day out about how bad he’s going isn’t changing that and it’s getting a bit boring.
