Just because they are humans doesn't mean that the industry as a whole shouldn't expect some degree of professionalism and performance. If they are not good enough to adjudicate the game fairly and consistently then they shouldn't be awarded games. The AFL should develop full time umpires.

Gents Are we back to 4 weeks ago when we first said it was best to finish 4th? Obviously we need to beat Hawthorn to secure top 4. Then the Sydney game may be inconsequential for us. Geelong - Pies, can't make up my mind. Pies losing keeps the door open for top spot (albeit a slim chance), but that keeps Geelong's season alive. I think I prefer Geelong out of finals. Adelaide to upset the lions. Ditto GWS at AO. And we beat Carlton locking in the top 4.

Maybe they should have a points system based on the market value. There is already a points system for draft picks, shouldn't be hard to crate an equivalency based on contract money value.

It would be interesting to know what are the needs of the team for the near future. Backline - May's replacement (draft or recruit?) Midfield - JV replacement (is he 29 next year?), Max replacement (Grundy has 4 years only left) Forward line - Is JVR our future KPF? Do we still need to recruit a veteran player to support him at least 3 or 4 seasons?
