Food at the Footy
I catch a train in and make a stop at Springvale to buy a pork belly roll. Then back on the train to the G. Love it when someone at half time asks me where did I buy that from.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Neale Daniherās comment comes to mind- āafter all that is said and done , more is said than doneā (or words to that effect). I hope plenty of us turn up. It is undoubtedly the best most tangible way that we the supporters can actually help our team on game day. Home game, home crowd advantage. If you can, be there loud and proud! It would āurinateā me off if we were vastly outnumbered on the day.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
When we beat north, I felt flat. Losing to Brisbane, strangely I felt a touch of hope. The win against West Coast felt just right. Looking forward to next Saturday night. I feel somewhat optimistic about our next game despite Essendon having a two day longer break than us between games Hoping there are many like-minded people as me that intend going to the game and making a lot of noise. After all it is our home game! Hope it feels like a home game for our boys (and supporters). GO DEES!

Standard of Umpiring
Not sure when the number of umpires were increased to four (which I thought was a good idea at the time- to pick up legitimate frees deep in forward/ defence)- which has proven to be an abject failure. This stretched the talent pool which increased the likelihood of more poor / inconsistent decisions being made. Add to this the fine line interpretations required to determine what is a handball / throw and players milking the system for frees (eg driving their own head into the ground) it all just looks / feels worse than the standard 10 years ago. Seems like quite a few games results this year were directly impacted by some very bad calls late in the game. Such a shame for those of us that watch football because we love football (as opposed to the āprofessional entertainmentā game that it had sadly morphed into).

NON-MFC: Round 16
I think it will become less fraudulent in the coming two weeks.

NON-MFC: Round 16
Umpires really stuffed up a good close game in that 3rd quarter (ESS v Cats).

PREGAME: Rd 17 vs West Coast
Being realistic we cannot be considered serious contenders this year. (Sydney is and perhaps any one that ends up top four at season end). Strange game this. I felt gutted by last weekās win, but gained some hope with this weekās loss. Hoping that we can somehow make the finals. Not caring or thinking about higher draft picks if we finish lower. Just want to see us play finals. You got to be in it to win it (but refer to my first sentence). It is a long off season. GO DEES!

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I still canāt get over their chanting when Gus was knocked out cold. I want our team to focus on playing their guts out and beating this mob. We can do it. My job at the ground tomorrow is to give it to Maynard and any other feral shyyytes in the crowd near me that back him up ā¦ā¦ and feel their hate when we win. And yes, Iāll cheer for you. GO DEES SMASH āEM!!!

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
For me high up on the āhate listā is Cox and Maynard (and used to include Ginnivan). That aside they are a very good side and play an exciting brand of football. It is their supporter base that l absolutely despise. No better example was when the ferals last year started chanting āCollingwoodā while Brayshaw was knocked out cold. It made me very angry. Still am! The KB game for me is āour little final in Juneā. I just donāt want us to win, I want to see Collingwood get smashedā¦.so that I can soak up the crowd atmosphere. (Even better in some ways when we will be vastly outnumbered). GO DEES.

Sunday footy show - Who is the greatest Demon of all time?
And on that āludicrousā theme, the game has changed so much over the decades and even in recent years. Football that was played in the sixties (that is as far back I can go) is almost a totally different game to what is played today. And then to try and nominate (and objectively justify) the best of all time!ā¦ā¦.good luck

Changes to āHolding the Ballā Rule
The other elephant in the room is the handball rule. Years ago a handball was a handball and āflick passesā were actually deemed a throw. Bemusing how the interpretation has been allowed to change over the years. (Guessing the hand ball rule has actually not changed, but happy to be corrected). Nowadays there is a very fine line between what is a handball and what is a throw. I actually feel for the umpires on this one. But I wonāt let them off the hook completely. As we all know some players get targeted and pinged, others always seem to get the benefit of the doubt.
