  1. Would she mind much if you dragged her along to all our remaining home and away games?

    Go kick [censored] Jake !

Not sure when the number of umpires were increased to four (which I thought was a good idea at the time- to pick up legitimate frees deep in forward/ defence)- which has proven to be an abject failure. This stretched the talent pool which increased the likelihood of more poor / inconsistent decisions being made. Add to this the fine line interpretations required to determine what is a handball / throw and players milking the system for frees (eg driving their own head into the ground) it all just looks / feels worse than the standard 10 years ago. Seems like quite a few games results this year were directly impacted by some very bad calls late in the game. Such a shame for those of us that watch football because we love football (as opposed to the ‘professional entertainment’ game that it had sadly morphed into).

I think it will become less fraudulent in the coming two weeks.

Umpires really stuffed up a good close game in that 3rd quarter (ESS v Cats).
  6. Being realistic we cannot be considered serious contenders this year. (Sydney is and perhaps any one that ends up top four at season end). Strange game this. I felt gutted by last week’s win, but gained some hope with this week’s loss. Hoping that we can somehow make the finals. Not caring or thinking about higher draft picks if we finish lower. Just want to see us play finals. You got to be in it to win it (but refer to my first sentence). It is a long off season. GO DEES!

Going to bed now. Tomorrow morning I’ll enjoy seeing what Scott said at his press conference

Danger will get off. Different story of course had Kozzie done the same.

Spot on. All now gets down to what result is in Melbourne’s best interest. So in a very little voice ‘go Carlscum’
  12. Come finals, ABC. Simple as that for me now.
  13. And equally as good, particularly when it’s an ‘away game’ 1 point. Actually almost better. We smash ‘em and a lot of them would have left well before the final siren. I want to have the full crowd experience.
  14. I still can’t get over their chanting when Gus was knocked out cold. I want our team to focus on playing their guts out and beating this mob. We can do it. My job at the ground tomorrow is to give it to Maynard and any other feral shyyytes in the crowd near me that back him up …… and feel their hate when we win. And yes, I’ll cheer for you. GO DEES SMASH ‘EM!!!
  15. Need motivation? Do it for Neale, Gus, Goody, supporters, beating effing Collingwood….. self pride. Take your pick, or mix and match. Season defining game
  16. For me high up on the ‘hate list’ is Cox and Maynard (and used to include Ginnivan). That aside they are a very good side and play an exciting brand of football. It is their supporter base that l absolutely despise. No better example was when the ferals last year started chanting ‘Collingwood’ while Brayshaw was knocked out cold. It made me very angry. Still am! The KB game for me is ‘our little final in June’. I just don’t want us to win, I want to see Collingwood get smashed….so that I can soak up the crowd atmosphere. (Even better in some ways when we will be vastly outnumbered). GO DEES.
  17. Just saw a photo of Goody in The Age. Boy has he aged. Looks like he took a big one for the team. The boys owe him one. Hope they turn up next Monday and play their hearts out for him.
  18. Can we start a crowd funding thingy on in internet to cover any loss of income? I’d pitch in. What is big bad Carl Ditterich up to nowadays? It’s got to be a big hit. He only has a few brain cells. if all that is not possible, just beat the bastards.
  19. Phew, thank goodness. I thought we were in a spot of bother after that shellacking. As an aside, how big is our game next week versus the Ferals!
  20. And on that ‘ludicrous’ theme, the game has changed so much over the decades and even in recent years. Football that was played in the sixties (that is as far back I can go) is almost a totally different game to what is played today. And then to try and nominate (and objectively justify) the best of all time!…….good luck
  21. The other elephant in the room is the handball rule. Years ago a handball was a handball and ‘flick passes’ were actually deemed a throw. Bemusing how the interpretation has been allowed to change over the years. (Guessing the hand ball rule has actually not changed, but happy to be corrected). Nowadays there is a very fine line between what is a handball and what is a throw. I actually feel for the umpires on this one. But I won’t let them off the hook completely. As we all know some players get targeted and pinged, others always seem to get the benefit of the doubt.
  22. You obviously haven’t seen my wife in action when it comes to all or anything remotely related to computers or mobile phones.
  23. Seems there are quite a few posters that have concerns with Petty. Sure, he may not be firing on all cylinders just yet, but I reckon he still has a presence out on the ground when he plays. I think he had a lot of potential upside and if he gets more confidence and takes more big grabs he may be a very important cog in our forward structure come September. I would definitely persist with him in coming games. What are your thoughts?
  24. Hope the mindset is that this is another ‘business trip’. Over to Alice to get the job done, just want the four points. Nothing more, nothing less.
  25. And perhaps more importantly he walks the talk in demonstrating team values and culture. He truly leads in this space and everyone else follows. Loved the way he handled Langdon ‘week off’. Look after everyone and then everyone will look after you. Totally aware that quite a few here have different opinions on Goody. I hope he stays on board for a very, very long time.
