  1. I hope you're right.
  2. Yes but GC has got at least one - the Geelong one. If our 2 beat pick 4 they could bundle that in to trump us.
  3. I think the fair point that Lutz is making is that if you're interested in Dangerfield you're going to need to offer someone like Tapscott to get a deal done. As pointed out in this thread, they've each got different qualities that are valuable in big finals. Vibes makes an excellent point that Craig is unlikely to attack Adelaide's list, just as I think Neeld is unlikely to attack Collingwood's list. We may end up with fringe players from those clubs based on the knowledge we now have but not major players.
  4. His hardness and bravery are one of his quallities, not doubting that and it's not something we've had in abumndance. He is a great kick which is a very handy asset. He's a good player who'll probably carve out a decent AFL career, but he's got limitations. IMO Dangerfield is in a another class completely.
  5. Lutz has a point about Tapscott - he's hard and a nice kick but that's about it - not strong defensively, not strong overhead. There's no evidence to suggest he can play midfield and he doesn't have any tricks to play forward. He's a medium back who is a nice kick - a harder version of Josh Hunt. When James Strauss is back he's not in my back 6 and I don't see him anywhere else. Like Darren Glass? Spare me! Tapscott for Dangerfield? Get outta my way!
  6. Tigers will need to make the 8. Carlton will need to make top 4. Both tough asks ... Bring on the speculation!
  7. Someone "wont tolerate mediocrity"
  8. While you're in that asking mood, mention Bev and Nicky
  9. Yeah but "having an arrangement that we give GWS our first round pick next year" doesn't actually trade the pick until trade week in 2012 which is after F/S nomination
  10. I'd take Jud and 2 Bartrams in our current position - we've got a number of very good players but we've always lacked stars. If O'Meara is rate equal with Judd I'd give what's necessary and if that's Scully picks + 12 then do it. Remember those mid first rounders might be Gysberts, Grimes and Frawler or they could be Jones, Bate.and Maric.
  11. If there's that much gap why bother - just use the pick next year. If we're outbid for pick 1 I'd be hoping pick 2 was still worth the 2 picks - you get what you pay for and we need a star.
  12. So how good is Brad Crouch anyway?
  13. EQ says in today's Age P.18 "... with Gold Coast's pick No. 4 and one of their compensation picks believed to be leading the race for O'Meara ..." Link not on-line yet. Going once ...
  14. No-one from a team in flag contention has gone to GC or GWS except Gazza
  15. It's up on the SEN site
  16. Step one is to convince the player to come across, we've got the ammo with the Scully picks, pick 12 and potentially desirable players to specific teams like Warnock to do a deal.
  17. Might have to and I wouldn't hesitate and then some. O'Meara for Scully - it's a no-brainer. Sure GWS get a great deal but let's worry about us, not them.
  18. Don't agree with that - the Scully Compo picks put us in a great position to be very active. Also pick 12 is useful - do we really need another solid good player like Gysberts, Tapscott or Strauss? I think we need stars and we need to fill specific gaps - I'd trade pick 12 in a heartbeat if it could do either of those.

  20. Someone suggested Jordan Lisle as KPF possibility to me (I've never seen him play) - if the Hawks are interested in Warnock maybe there's a deal there.
  21. EQ in today's Age says GWS are expected to trade 2 MD picks this year and 2 next year and they're chasing picks rather than players.
  22. That's a very good question - it hasn't been announced what's happening with PPs next year and under the current rules GC, Port and Brisbane are all in the frame for a beginning of 1st round PP if they win less than 5 games. These picks would be before GWS first pick in 2012 even if they finish last with 0 wins which is likely. The AFL have said they're going to revisit the PP rules so the beginning of 1st round picks may disappear. If GWS was thinking they love O'Meara and expect to finish 18th next year and therefore not trade any picks this year (save all 4 trades for next year) so they can take him in the 2012 draft they'd want to know what was happening with the PPs.
  23. I don't think there's a direct quote from GC but it's been in the press (yes I know) including today's Age trading preview: http://www.theage.co...1004-1l7gx.html It's no big surprise - if they rate O'Meara (who has been touted top 2 in 2012 draft) higher than who they expect to be available at pick 4 this year they'll do it. It'd give GWS 1,2,3,4,5 this year and they might be interested if they are having trouble splitting 3 and 4. Alternatively our 2 x mid-1st round compo picks good for the next 5 years may appeal more. I guess in that case the question comes down to would you swap our compo picks for pick 4 this year?
  24. No [censored] sherlock - I think we're in furious agreement there
