Caddy and many of his GC colleagues will be OOC at the end of next year. We've still got the 2 x 1st round compo picks.

Wash up of trade week: Clark + 52 for 12 + Warnock - I'd have taken that!
-
Yeah, I couldn't find where I heard or read that - and I've clearly got it wrong - looks like they want 2 picks at least but seem to have traded all their later picks away: 1.41pm - Adelaide has received picks 27, 31 and 68 from Gold Coast for pick 24. The Suns look keen to have fewer, better draft picks, having now exchanged five picks (27,31,32, 34 and 68) for picks 24 and 26 in the past hour. Read more: http://www.theage.co...l#ixzz1b0H723JJ

Dont' expect GC to have much interest in Essendon's pick 18 - our compo pick is of more interest. There's no point in bundling 36 or 39 from Bate - they just traded away 32 and 34 presumably because they won't use them

GC apparently onl;y want to take 1 pick in this year's draft, they just did this trade: 1.13pm - Geelong has swapped their first round pick 26 for Gold Coast's picks 32 and 34. Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-trade-week-final-day-updates-20111017-1lsaj.html#ixzz1b0Dzihjp

Looks like Collingwood did a deal for the 10th and last pre-listed player so it's draft only now. 11:17am - Trade movement is picking up .... Collingwood exchanges its second round pick (No.47 overall) to the Gold Coast Suns for Peter Yagmoor (Queensland zone selection) and a round three pick (50). Yagmoor is a Cairns-raised indigenous half-back, 180cms, who played well for Morningside in a losing grand final this year. His manager Peter Blucher says he "kicks it at an elite level already". If Brisbane sign Lisle would they still go after Tippett?

It's not me. it's you. It's over!

Now for the crumbing pacy small forward
old55 replied to Grandson of a gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bennell is small back for me - good defensively, line breaking run and a nice kick - he did some great work down there last year. Davey, Wonna and Lawrence are the candidates for crumbing forward currently on the list - its a tough role but absolutely vital, especially in big finals - tougher and even more vital. Jurrah, Howe, Sylvia and Watts are all threats when the ball hits the deck too - there's going to be some fun times ahead. -
I have Davey in there but it's a very tough role to come back into to re-build his confidence. There's Wonnaeamirri and Lawrence. It's a very tough role which is even tougher in big finals, but good play in the role can make the flag winning difference.

Clark is a great get and gives us a much better structure. IMO it looks more like: Howe Watts Sylvia Jurrah Clark Davey Does ask the question about where Bate, Green, Petterd and Dunn fit in.
-
Definitely out of contract

Fair enough. Harrington did refer to "elite 17 year olds" http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/124846/default.aspx What does "elite" really mean - I agree that if Crouch is a top 5 prospect I'd have spent both picks on him.

Really hope we get GWS at the MCG and Geelong at Skilled.

Don't think Adelaide supporters agree with you this year
-
Looks to be next option after Dawes and Clark. That he didn't play last year at Hawthorn doesn't worry me - they have Buddy (Watts) and they have Hale keeping him out. They have Roughead to come back and have added Gunston. Lisle has to be down the pecking order at Hawthorn. Dawes and Clark would be long-term options - it depends whether we see this capability in Lisle too - otherwise we could switch to a short-term option like Kosi as a filler, although this looks unlikely. The last resort is Setanta and he'll probably be delisted and we could rookie him - no reason to get excited there.

I see you're persisting with your criticism of the club in these trade dealings in another thread but I haven't seen anywhere where you've stated exactly what you would have done differently. I've offered examples of what it would take to better the done deals but you haven't actually endorsed any of hem as you preffered position. Time to put up.

8 + 12 sounds steep for Tippett to me. 8 + 16 should get it done. Your theory that the Crows know who will go at 12 and specifically want them ahead of the player at 16 is possible but it's a stretch for me. Are you sure the Lions will deal 8 for Tippett? Maybe they want to hang onto it and want to deal the Clark trade receipts direct for Tippett and that's why they favour MFC's 12 + Compo (with say 29 back to MFC) for Clark. 16 + 20 won't get the Tippett deal done since he's in contract.
-
FMD, the PSD talk is just saying "I really REALLY want to go to Freo, please do the deal" If he said "I really REALLY want to go to Freo, but if you can't do the deal I'll go to MFC" then he goes to MFC beacuse we're offering Brisbane more. It's not an insult to us.
-
Yes, it's at least as good as any other theory - they'd have the "culture".
-
Agree, it is disappointing. I'd even aired out the sleeping bag and fluffed up the sleeping mat.
-
Let's see - one who plays with the biggest club in Australia, in this years GF, is a current premiership player and can look forward to a number of years of real contending ahead and one who expressly said he wants to go home to Perth. It's good that we took a decent shot - there's only so many KPFs around. We just have to work down the list.
-
Let's face it - any Melbourne club chasing Fev would be a surprise - it doesn't indicate anything. Name me a Melbourne club that wouldn't surprise - the Dogs would probably be the least surprising.
-
And we've got to move on at least 2 more players, 3 if we get Clark.
