I expect "No Change" because if Spencer comes in OMac goes out and he's named in the 18. I expect Spencer to play in Perth next week and Max to resume against Sydney back here.

Some vintage TGR

You called Jack "half-arsed" and accused him of "not pulling his weight". You are wrong.
-
Lewis cost $s but no trade value. He's a bit like Roos - a stabilising influence that gives our club some veritas inside and outside. He's in decline, but it was a good trade. It will be interesting to see how we manage it. I expect him to play well against the Dogs btw.
-
Started next to him in the centre square in the first half. Came off and on at the same time. There was definitely some sort of tag there in the first half. In the second half we went more attacking at the stoppages. Love Goodwin!.

Quoted because that's the way I saw it too. I'd like Spencer in but think it needs to be for a tall - OMac out despite playing very well.

Clarko reduced to sooking about the umps - worse than Scott bros. It's gonna be sweet schadenfreude for years.

IMO not a need when we have Watts and Hannan

Melksham played well against GC and got coach's votes - maybe he's found his role?

https://thewest.com.au/business/media/2500-plus-journo-jobs-lost-since-2011-ng-s-1725094 "A public inquiry has heard more than 2500 journalist jobs have been lost in Australia since 2011."

People taking "a communication/journalism degree" are working in marketing communications and PR for corporations and government - not in journalism. Please list the media companies that have "adjust(ed) to modern times" and are employing more journalists.
-
Print advertising funded good journalism. Broadcast media are also in the content creation business, so advertising there also funds professional content creation - both entertainment and news. Digital has broken that model in 2 ways: specialist free-to-use advertising-only media, like Carsales.com.au and Realestate.com.au Content platforms with advertising where the content is created for free by the public, like Facebook We're richer is many ways but poorer in some important ways - loss of good quality journalism.
-
I don't think you understand the parlous employment prospects of modern journalists who actually want to pursue their craft. Connolly has options only because he works in the burgeoning AFL domain. The only avenue for most is PR. I work in media, I'm not a journalist.

The FD clearly like McKenna, they just traded for him and he has been injured. King a promising ruckman coming back from an ACL. I expect both to be on the list next year. Garland has a year to run on his contract and is also will be comming back from an ACL. Maybe you'll go in and delist him?
-
We've been playing only 5 talls total - TMac, OMac, Frost, Pedersen, Watts - which is already light on, I don't think we can go in with less - are you really suggesting we go in with only 4 talls? What if one of them gets injured? So it's not Salem for OMac. It's Salem for Wagner or Bugg.
-
Yeah but that one is OMac equivalent

If Jake can play, he can share the ruck load with Pedersen and Watts so he doesn't have to ruck all day. And TMac can go back and replace OMac. It's really Jake's possible input compared with OMac's input. If it all goes horribly wrong then we'll just have to ruck Pedersen and Watts for the rest of the day ...

Last injury report after R10 said "Expected return" Jake 2 weeks, Max 4 weeks. Agree Max come straight in when ready, therefore Jake has to get back ASAP to maximise his games - which I'm sure he'll want to do. Based on that data Jake possibly plays against Collingwood and the Dogs and Max comes back for West Coast away - I doubt that with the plane flight - I think they'd hold Max over too the Sydney game. That means if Jake can get up this week he gets 2-3 games but if he can't get up until the Dogs he only get 1 or 2 games. He'll be busting the door down to get up for the Pies IMO. This week's injury report will be interesting. I predict Jake "test".
-
I don't agree, Jake did a full pre-season and he injured his shoulder so he should have been running for quite a while, unlike Max, so he is likely to have retained his endurance. What sort of "match practice" - at Casey? Do you think Gawn is going to play at Casey to get :"match practice" before returning to MFC? I don't - he'll be straight in and Jake could be too. If Jake gets through a solid contested work-out at training then he'll be pushing hard to be in and IMO they should play him. In: Jake out: OMac

Elliott is a massive out for them if confirmed, he's been the difference for them in recent games - has kicked 3, 3, 3, 4, & 3 goals in his last 5 games. Even bigger if Fasolo remains out. Wells is a significant out when Varcoe is already out too. If Goldsack is out they'll need to get Reid back - they'll want him back anyway. IMO Jake Spencer would be very handy, Grundy is a force. Jake must be busting to get back as early as possible because he must realise there's a finite set of games until he's replaced by Max.
