Ask yourself where's the biggest hole.

As I posted above, I hope we're making a strong play for Moyle who is a big unit who won't be moved off the line and follows up well at the stoppage with tackles and clearance. Witts is GC captain and is a year younger than Max, and they have Read coming through, although he may be more forward-ruck - staying at GC with all that list talent is probably a sound option for him. If he would move there's the question of would he come to Melbourne after the Grundy experience but I think we are as good an option as anywhere for him to inherit the #1 ruck mantle. Max is the oldest #1 outside of Goldstein and Stanley, who both already have good proteges in Draper and Conway. Collingwood is an attractive option because they will play two rucks and Cameron is competitive forward. There's the Dogs if English leaves but that seems unlikely. It's hard to know Max's mind, he might like to forge on for 2-3 years or he might just say ruck-it, I'm done at the end of this year and go and enjoy life without a totally busted body. Adelaide: O'Brien 28y9m, Strachan Brisbane: McInerney 29y10m, Fort 30y10m Carlton: Pittonet 28y, De Koning Collingwood: Cameron 28y10m, Cox 33y 2m Essendon: Goldstein 35y11m, Draper, Bryan Fremantle: Darcy 25y11m, Jackson GWS: Briggs 24y8m, Preuss Geelong: Stanley 33y6m, Conway Gold Coast: Witts 31y8m, Moyle, Read Hawthorn: Meek 26y1m, Reeves 25y7m MFC: Gawn 32y5m, Verrall North: Xerri 25y2m, Teakle Port: Soldo 28y1m, Sweet 26y4m Richmond: Nankervis 29y9m, Naismith 31y10m St.Kilda: Marshall 28y6m, Campbell 32y7m Sydney: Grundy 30y1m, Ladhams 26y4m West Coast: Flynn 26y8m, Williams, Barnett Dogs: English 26y9m, Lobb 31y3m I'd make Moyle a very good offer because I think a capable Max replacement is #1 priority. I've suggested elsewhere that we've got enough developing KP in the hopper: Turner, Jefferson, Verrall, Adams and Kentfield to complement Lever, Petty and JVR. And I think we've got enough untapped midfield potential in Salem, Pickett, Rivers and McVee to complement Petracca, Oliver and Viney. It sounds like a midfielder heavy draft coming up so we could pick up someone there.

Ideal get IMO. Massive unit who can't be moved off the line and follows up strongly with tackles and clearance. I'd pay a lot.

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
Quite clearly we'll all look back in 50 years and see the fact that Luker Kentfield took "too long" to get to his first training session as the starting point of the crumbling of the MFC empire, much like the sacking of Norm Smith in 1965. Thanks for bringing it to all our attention so early!

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Coburg
Hard not to agree. His AFL career is clearly now in jeopardy through missing this contest with Coburg. I think he can kiss those potential Coleman medals goodbye now.

NON-MFC: Round 12
Pretty amazing contested game from Nick Daicos. Any small lingering doubt about his work in this area, now completely dispelled. He's a tremendous player.

Sunday footy show - Who is the greatest Demon of all time?
"Greatest of all time" is a ludicrous concept because no-one has seen all the candidates play and there is no comparable film footage. Warne-Smith, La Fontaine, Mueller, Spencer etc - no-one alive really knows. "Best you have seen" is the only viable concept and it's just a personal subjective judgement anyway.

AMW!
AMW played in Darwin not Alice Springs and my understanding is he is of Timorese ethnicity.

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
WC had very good KPs in 2018. Richmond brought in Lynch and he played in the 2019 and 20 flags. We went big at the other end and brought in Lever and May. Geelong had Hawkins and brought in Cameron. Even Collingwood brought in McStay. All the recent flags have been won by teams who have seen the value of KPs. They're expensive to trade or contract in FA but they're indispensible. It's worth trying to draft some prospects.

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
I think Luker Kentfield makes good sense from a list management pov. We are currently going with 2 tall forwards (one a ruck/fwd) plus Fritsch and three tall backs. BBB is done, TMac is close to the end despite his great season, Tomlinson has not been starting 22 and would find better opportunities elsewhere, and May is getting on. Schache is not up to it. J.Smith is assumed done. To maintain our current set up through the decade I think we can assume that JVR, Fritsch and Lever are there and that hopefully we can retain Petty who could play at either end. That means we need two of Turner, Jefferson, Adams, Verrall and now Kentfield to make it as KP. Hore is useful intercepting depth and Fullarton may be depth only too. Kalani White is coming through but any effective impact can't be expected until towards the end of the decade. I think we've increased our chances of success in this area and we needed to. We can concentrate of drafting midfielders which is the easiest target to hit and look for a serviceable ruck through trade or FA.

Yes there's not a great deal of ready made midfield impact in my list of players but they could come in and enable Salem, Rivers or even McVee to run through there in addition to ANB and Pickett who are already adding something. But as you agree it's about available talent in the MSD. Maybe doom merchant @poita would have been happier with match winners like Trent Bianco or giving Kyle Dunkley another chance? We can draft some midfield talent and maybe pick up some useful FA depth at the end of the year.
