The Jagga Smith Thread
It's interesting to note that Smith's birthdate is 28/01/2006, he's been 18 almost all of the year, finished school in 2023 and was very nearly eligible for last year's draft. He's had a full year to concentrate on honing his footy. Compare with Levi Ashcroft, 18/12/2006, he's still 17, he qualified for this year's draft by less than 2 weeks.

Jason Taylor AFL Gettable 18.11.2024
No Saty, that "this year's draft is so even" means the various clubs rankings are less likely to be the same. If the players were more stratified then they rankings would be more likely to be similar.

JT said that who they pick at 5 won't influence who they pick at 9, they're just going for the best talent at both picks.
-
Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
I really have no idea and IJTWT, but of the feasible combos Tauru and Armstrong would be most amusing just to read the resulting massive melts on here.

Gold Coast Suns Rebrand
So you've refuted your own statement that logos in the middle of the guernsey look terrible and we're just discussing execution now?

Gold Coast Suns Rebrand
You mean like the CFC logo on the Carlton jumper? Is that amateurish?
-
Gold Coast Suns Rebrand
I like the rising sun over water S logo but the colour palette means it's lost against the jumper's red background. Their colours are red yellow and blue, they should have made the top half of the sun yellow and the bottom half blue then it would stand out, be consistent with their colours and more clearly communicate the "rising sun" message. On the away jumper they could make the top half of the logo red.

Melbourne aren't going to bid on Kako at the pick Essendon traded to us. You can take that to the bank!

Draft night - How it may work out?
Carlton is a very interesting one. They've paid a decent price to trade up to 3, I wonder if that is for someone specific or they were just generally impressed with the quality of the top echelon and wanted to get access. IMO their greatest list need is a class small forward, it seems Kako is the pick but he's unavailable, Joe Berry would probably have been available right around their original first rounder. It's all the more interesting since they got rid of Owies, Martin and Durdin in the trade period. It will be fascination to see who they go for. Maybe @No. 31 can offer some insight?

2024 Phantom Drafts
Apparently his floor is the Bont and his ceiling is Cripps, or is that the other way around ๐

The Jagga Smith Thread
A floor of Parish and a ceiling of Merrett is a good pick-up. We don't have anyone like that.

2024 Phantom Drafts
I've seen this elsewhere as the reason Carlton take FOS, that has to be the dumbest reason ever put forward for a draft selection.

Welcome to Demonland: Kalani White
You're off by a year, Andrew and JVR were in the 2021 draft not the 2020 draft and we traded our F1 from 2022 to get the JVR pick. Maybe we could have held off in the trade period, used our later 2021 picks to match Andrew and then try to trade back into the first round for JVR with our 22 F1 on draft night. But it would have been very tricky. I'm on record saying we got dudded by the temporary rule change and we should be pursuing the AFL for draft compensation. Hell, they should love us, we've kept the game in the news and on the back page of the HS for two off seasons.
