I think every thread that does not state a hard and fast fact should start with "I think"/"X thinks", etcetera, in order to stop fools like me looking at them thinking that some big event has occurred when in reality, it's just somebody's opinion. So, if I were to start a topic like this, it would read "I Think Warnock Will Be a Demon," which just happens to be my opinion.

Hey, it's the internet. Everyone reserves the right to nitpick.
-
Right. It's the same deal with Damien Peverill. If a couple of clubs happen to want to pick him up for a year or two, Essendon could still get something for him.
-
Just because you rest a player, doesn't mean you're trying not to win. Chris Johnson might not be in Bailey's best 22.
-
The only way we'll get anything for White (or Yze if he decides to play on) is if multiple clubs want them. If Carlton and Sydney both wanted Jeff White, Sydney would have to offer something for him or else they'd just lose him to Carlton (who will have a better PSD pick than them). This would cause the Blues to consider offering something better than the Swans are. At least, that's how I understand it.

Good point. I've also noticed he hasn't played a good game without Aaron Davey in the side. He's obviously a shy young guy and probably relies a lot on Aaron to show him the way. Has anyone else noticed how often the Flash tries to bring Wona in to the game when they're playing together?

So are you saying that the future of Melbourne is the Testra Dome? A strong relationship with the MCC is integral to this Club's future, as it holds the key to a large percentage of our supporter-base. We can't appeal to Melburnians the way the Cats, for example, can appeal to people from Geelong. Therefore we have to ensure our relationship with the group that owns the ground we walk on every weekend remains as positive as it can be.

Hey, it's better than other late-night television. It's probably better than On the Couch too. In my opinion, it's the best football program there is. The Footy Show might be better, but it's disqualified on account of it's reluctance to discuss anything even remotely football related. Not to mention the puke-worthy "jokes" of Trevor "Good on Toast" Marmalade.

How do you know about grass? Do you spend a lot of time watching it? Or face-down in it?
-
Yeah, but the least they could do is talk about how crap we are!
-
Don't worry, buddy. I think there's a retired Melbourne forward appearing on TV at about 10:30 tonight!
-
That's definitely true. As an Essendon supporter, it must have been frustrating at times to see a big guy with a lot of potential not consistently doing what you knew he could. It's fair to say the Dons aren't exactly my favourite side in the world, but David Hille, Alwyn Davey, Andrew Lovett and, until recently, James Hird are always guys I love to watch play. I'm proud to say I liked David Hille before he was good.

If he plays against the Tiges, I reckon he'd bring at least a thousand Melbourne supporters to the game who would never have come otherwise. I know I'm exited to see him get a taste before the year is out.

I'd say Paul Johnson has the ability to become a Hille in Red and Blue, rather than Red and Black. I remember him and the Russian doing a bit of a number on the guy a few weeks back. It really got us into the game against a team that - at the time, was absolutely on fire.

Although we've been flogged in many games, there are only a few that I can think of where we've been absolutely terrible all game. Of our bad losses, we were good for a quarter against the Dogs, we smashed Freo in the first quarter over there. Every other loss, barring Hawthorn in round 1, North Melbourne a few weeks later, Geelong in round 18 and our games at AAMI (where even our best teams of this decade have been ritualistically flogged), we've been - to use a Bailey-ism - competitive for periods. Even in our 3 wins this year, the only thing Dean Bailey has been interested in is how long we've been "competitive" for. When it comes down to it, we've often been flogged, but we've also been able to stay level or better than our opponents for short periods within those games. This indicates to me that the problem is not with the game plan, but rather with the ability of the players to execute it for periods longer than a football microsecond. If our game plan was crap, we'd never have been competitive. P.S. IMO LOL ROFLMAO At the end of the day, going forward, with your Mortons, your Grimeseses, your Valentis, your Wonaeamirris and your Garlands, not to mention your McLeans, your Riverses and your Millers, we will have the . . . ahem . . . "cattle" to get the results on the board, taking it one week at a time, of course.
-
You know you're in strife when you're being outrucked by Nathan Carroll.
-
Absolutely. We get smashed every week in forward-50 entries, but Bate must be close to leading our inside-50s. He is not a superstar, or even a star, but on his day, he is a 20 year old Paul Wheatley played 30 meters up the ground. I'd take that at his age, with the promise of more to come. Give the kid a break!

In my totally unimportant opinion, petty arguments like these are worse for the forum than a [censored] off supporter venting a little four-letter steam about some poorly performed players in a team he loves.

Simon Buckley is a gun - must get a Rising Star nomination

So it seems like we should get pretty good fairly soon, right? -
I even think McLean was better this year than he's ever been.
-
I agree with you about Carlton, although they may be willing to do Green, White and our 3rd round pick for their first round pick. I'd do that. When it comes down to it, I'm not sure Geelong has a say in the matter. I do agree with you about the Freo situation.
-
I'm not happy about this.

Mine is: Backs: M. Whelan S. Martin M. Warnock Half backs: C. Garland J.Rivers P. Wheatley Centreline: C. Morton A. Davey C. Bruce Half forwards: B. Green M. Bate C. Sylvia Forwards: A. Wonaeamirri B. Miller R. Robertson Followers: R. Warnock D. Rich B. McLean Interchange: P. Johnson J. McDonald B. Moloney S. Buckley Emg. M.Jamar N. Jones S. Valenti This seems to me like a strong young list with an emphasis on midfield rotation. You've got Morton, Davey, Bruce, Green, Sylvia, McDonald, Moloney and Buckley who can all rotate through the midfield, allowing McLean and young Daniel Rich (who I hope we draft) to stay fresh.

Things we are terible at.
